There is a point, yes, that does happen, but I think the probability of seeing whiny ppl on the forums are higher than seeing a good control. Also if you're good why would you complain?
Well, calling shit for what it is is stating the truth, not complaining.
I usually play them both: aggro decks to rank 5, and control decks from there on. I find control decks more fun and imo that is the reason most control players actually play control. It's not about how much skill you need to play a deck/archetype, but about the preference.
So, the answer for "Why do people play control" is the same as "Why do people play aggro": They enjoy it.
Renolock, anyfin, renomage and priest shit on midrange?
Midrange Hunter and Midrange Shaman shit all over those decks btw. not the other way around.
I don't know about midhunter because i didn't play against it since msog but at least renolock destroys midshaman.Renolock now has so many board clears and sustain that is impossible for mid shaman to outvalue him unless renolock draws terribly or missplays hard.As for the other decks i can't say for sure since i played only a few games with them but renomage seems to have easy time against it too.
I personally play control because I do not enjoy winning a game just by hitting the opponents face. That doesn't let me enjoy the game, you are not thinking strategically nor logically, all you're doing - going face. That just beats the purpose of the game for me.
i play control because it leads to more interesting game states and generally involves cards that are much more interesting. FOR INSTANCE, all the decisions you get form a kazakus and change the game pretty significantly. discovering cards changes the game significantly a lot of the time.
basically i like playing control because it doesnt just have a gameplan such as "k im gonna kill you turn 5" and includes cards that change the way the game gets played.
to all the people that mention brain power and such, you're playing the wrong game, you should not be here to show your intellectual prowess.... thats just silly.
I don't personally hate aggro in general. I hate the decks that autopilot themselves and require almost zero thinking like Pirate Warrior, Midrange Shaman, Dragon Priest, Jade Druid or old Secret Pally. On the other hand there is (was, damn you meta :/) Zoolock - aggro deck that actually was making me exhausted after 1 hour of playing, because you had to analyze everything - positioning, solid trades, odds of drawing specific cards in a limited number of turns, just to know if you give up on trading from now on and go all in. Same feeling like playing Freeze Mage or Miracle Rogue - your resources are limited and you have to play with the cards that you do not even have in hand, and maaan I love this feeling. And also there are of course control vs control matchups, which are the most intense games HS can offer (except for CW because Tank Up every turn and relaying on Elise RNG is not very skill demanding). It's the best feeling in the world when as a Priest you completely exhausted Renolock of any resources because of your smart plays, while maintaining your health above 20 hp every turn, because you saw Emperor, and then he plays his last 3 cards which are PO, Leeroy and Faceless and concedes (assuming that he cut Jaraxxus from his deck). Usually while playing control vs control I'm not even salty when I lose, but rather try to analyze the game and find the mistakes I made that could lose me the game. When I lose against autopilot deck I always have the feeling that there was literally nothing I could do, apart from drawing a few specific answers that I have in my deck, and drawing them in time has nothing to do with my or my opponent's skill.
I totally agree. And when you can clearly see the opponent is a bot playing "autopilated" decks it's just the worst. It makes me feel like I couldnt even win against an opponent that cant think.

I should have said old midrange Hunter, before it died lol. But even some current builds of midrange Hunter are fast enough to beat renolock. But you are correct about mid-shaman. Idk why I was thinking that; maybe I confused it with the current aggro build that pretty much plays like a midrange deck
i saw insults. all they say is aggro is stupid, brainless, retarded. if the reason is "thinking", chess is a better game to play.
Why do you still come up with this example? Chess is indeed think intensive, but so is hearthstone if you are playing a control deck. The only downside is the RNG in this game, that does not have that much impact in control matchups.
I like control because it allows me to come up with more creative ways to deal with situations. Same reason I like playing weird decks with weird ideas that have fun cards. Because it's fun and makes me feel better, honestly, playing them. I'm not the best player in the world, but I do like to think I'm solid and know what to do at least most the time. I'm not against Aggro decks, but they aren't fun to me. Reno is the best though. Makes my day to play Reno.

Here's the thing: Chess is designed to give that experience, Hearthstone is not.
Which doesn't mean you can't play Hearthstone that way, but it does mean that you have no right to complain if it doesn't work out.
For me personally, it's much, much more satisfying than playing aggro decks. Playing aggro makes the game/ladder seem even more like a grind. Sure, you can progress faster with aggro but it just turns the game into a super grind feel. Doesn't give the same feeling of satisfaction that I feel should come with card games when you outsmart your opponent, take more risks, think things out more. Control just makes the game seem so much more lively for me.
Hearthstone needs control players. Otherwise, where will all the salt come from?
The world needs salt.

Because mindlessly slamming your face into a wall is a better alternative, right?
Playing face decks, super aggro, that shit's for mindless children that can't be bothered to keep from shitting their pants whenever someone acknowledges them.
I like control. I like playing big minions and stretching out games. I try not to complain about other decks (except secret paladin. fuck secret paladin.) but I sometimes get lost in the hate train. Then I read threads like this (though I still think there are more constructive ways for OP to make his/her point) and realize that the idea that aggro is bullshit braindead scum is idiotic and feel a bit pissed at myself for whining.
Guys, as a control player, who's played a variety of such decks, I can pretty objectively tell you that aggro decks take no more skill than control, except maybe in the respect that they happen to be tier one decks. The best decks tend to be more broken, and by virtue take less skill. This applies for all archetypes. But let's not kid ourselves, control isn't that hard to play. Neither is aggro. They just have different considerations to make when playing.
what to play against pirate warrior?

Lol, just yesterday I saw some guy make a thread called Why do people play Aggro.
I'm just trying to imagine an argument between Glace379 (the guy who made the Why do people play Aggro forum) and DirtyRat3000
