It's already September and we need another expansion this year. It will most likely be in mid-december meaning at at start of september we will get sneak peeks. So basically 2 months until sneak peeks and 2 and a half months until more than 100 cards come out. Seems a lot shorter than WotOG to Karazhan, which was 4 months or so and 5 months to the end of Karazhan.
Yep, only about 2 and a half months away. Any guesses as to what the expansion's theme will be? I heard some people mentioning the Titans, which could be an interesting way to end the year, since it started with the Old Gods.

Whispers of the Old Gods was released on April 26 in the Americas region, and the first two wings of Karazhan (The Prologue and The Parlor) on August 11th, so we waited 3 months and a half for the release of this last adventure. If the new expansion is released in mid-December (which is very probably) we also have to still wait around 3 months and a half for it (since September recently started).
Is this a joke or are you really that bad at maths?
I don't think we will get any sneak peak or promo/teaser regarding new expansion within this month, September, as Karazhan literally just came out late Aug / early Sept.
They usually use Blizzcon in early November every year for big official announcement.
For GvG expansion, Blizzcon announced the full set of cards in early Nov 2014 (so luckily the expansion announcement was revealed in mid October), but the expansion didnt release until early December, a month later.
For LoE adventure, Blizzcon announced the new adventure in early Nov 2015, and it was released 1-2 weeks later.
Therefore, I think Blizz will promote the new expansion in late Oct / early Nov, then use Blizzcon to make official announcement about the expansion. They will start revealing new cards throughout the rest of November, and the release date will be in early to mid December to make sure it happen before the holiday.
Sorry about that, 3 and a half months actually. Forgot how to count for a moment. The point still stands though, does anyone feel like taking a stab as to what the theme may be?
Unless they have been stashing cards and ideas, it's going to be hard for them to get an expansion out before the end of the year. The start of this "year" already drifted into spring, and I wouldn't be surprised if next year drifts even further.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that we wont hear a thing till Blizzcon and then we will probably see a lot more a lot quicker. I expect the expansion would drop in the second or third week of December so as to keep it in the proper cycle for Standard.
As for the theme... Well... A Blizzard rep stated in an interview, post Old Gods launch, that the expansion was supposed to contain both Old Gods and Titans but that the Titans were removed. Does this mean they developed all seven Titans? and possibly support cards surrounding them? If we say that this is most likely true. Then I think we know what the expansion coming out later this year will be.
Path of the Titans
9 Class Cards for each class - 1 legendary - 2 epic - 3 rare - 3 common
As a side note. I would like to see them bring in the Earthen as a new tribe for this.
I would also love to see these weapons brought into the game as they are wielded by the Titans.
Taeshalach ("Flame Rend")
Gorribal ("Dark Seether")
Gorshalach, (the Dark Render) (was what the previous two was called before split into two weapons)
While I'm at it ... lets go for broke here ... I would like to see Warlocks get their Stones... Stones could be a warlock form of secret that would not be a secret and also not be hidden but would take up a spot in the UI like a secret.
Soulstone (6): When your hero receives fatal damage restore your hero to 15 life.
Healthstone (3): When attacked your hero heals for 8 health.
Anyway that's my 13 cents worth
=D13=
p.s. why not toss in a new keyword as well...
OVERPOWER: any damage beyond that which kills an enemy minion is applied to the enemy hero
The next release of Hearthstone (the next expansion) scares me because if they release an underwhelming set that doesn't introduce new and/or good cards for all of the classes, Hearthstone will become very bland.
If you think about it this next expansion absolutely HAS to be good. The next Standard rotation pulls BrM and Grand Tourney, which kills off Dragon decks in standard completely and hurts the classes that benefit off the few good Grand Tourney cards (Ex. Justicar Trueheart, King's Elekk, Arcane Blast, Murloc Knight, Flash Heal, Burgle, Totem Golem AND Tuskarr Totemic, Bash, Flame Juggler, Argent Horserider, Refreshment Vendor).
The next expansion really needs to be good is what I'm trying to get at.
I really doubt that we'll see another expansion this year. Most likely it will come out january-february 2017, when the new Standard year starts and BRM, TGT and League roll out. As I see it, the whole idea of "Standard" is to NOT have more than 2 big expansions at once. Therefore, since we already have WoTG and TGT, there can't be another big expansion. Perhaps, Blizzard will "ignore" their tradition of releasing content for Hearthstone (adventure -> expansion -> adventure etc.) and will follow up with a second PvE adventure, or maybe just have us wait a bit more for when new the Standard year comes out.
Pretty sure I remember them saying that they'll release 2 expansions and 1 adventure per year, so until they prove that to be incorrect I'll kee believing that schedule.
Hmm. Expansions seem allot less exciting when they're simply replacing and not adding cards...
And that's why I play Wild.
Blizzard can easily choose to introduce a new element/mechanic to Hearthstone through an expansion if they so choose to. We just haven't seen any in the two most recent releases.
Just take a look at Grand Tournament. They introduced the Inspire mechanic, and even though it didn't turn out great, the expansion still managed to release a couple key cards that are played in decks to this day.
All Blizzard would need to do for the next expansion is come up with a new and unique mechanic, and limit any filler cards to replacement cards, so that both types of players are happy.
We just haven't seen any in the two most recent releases.
That's not true. In WoTG they intoduced the machanic of "buffing something that is not necessarily there". By that I mean the C'Thun cards. You don't even need to have a C'Thun in your deck for cards like Twilight Darkmender or Twin Emperors etc. to work ; or that your buffs are not bound to a minion (Entombing C'Thun results in a 6/6 copy), but your "account" for the duration of the match. In Karazhan, although, not so much in the adventure, but in Tavern Brawl that is connected to it, Blizzard introduced "Minions, that are not really minions" (can't attack or die, but have an effect and take up a slot on the board). I believe, that these 2 expansions were just a trial of new mechanics that will surely be seen in near future in, perhaps, in larger amounts.

Super agreed: I also believe that they might do more of that last 'Enchantment-looking' permanent.
But the topic was mechanics and not themes. There was no new mechanic in Whispers of the Old Gods and One Night in Karazhan. Mechanics are the bold text when highlighted explains the mechanic with additional text. Like Taunt and Overload.

Kripp is convinced the next expansion will be out next year. It's pissing me off for real.

Remember last year? BRM, TGT, LoE. Here's your proof.

If this happens, hearthstone would be more mindblowing than actually World of Warcraft as we could see Sargeras earlier than them lol
Just remember the good times!
