So I've always wanted to play rogue, but I've been terrible at it the few times I've tried. I've only played 19 games, but I'm 16-3 on it (the 3 losses were a mech mage topdecking pyroblast on turn 10, a hunter drawing a beast for kill command combo at exact lethal when i was about to kill, ran out of time when i had lethal cause my ipad froze), playing Wild Ranked but using a standard list. Is the deck really as easy as I'm finding it, or have i just gotten extremely lucky? I always assumed when i ran into Miracle decks that it was actually tough to pilot correctly (not saying I'm piloting without misplays).
well when you know your win conditions with any deck they become easy to play, ie for rogue just try to conceal auctioneer or any big minions etc
even then, when i'm 10-12 cards ahead, sometimes more, I'm presented with multiple win conditions. whether its just from cycling my deck I now have all my minions, a large concealed VanCleef, a southsea/faceless combo or spell burst I've found the deck to be really strong. I'm having a great time with it, a huge change from my control priest/paladin play style, and I already had all the cards so I'm pretty happy right now. Just wondering if I'm actually decent with the deck for having no experience, or if it truly is as easy as I'm finding it.
If you manage your spells correctly, once you get the Auctioneer it's most likely a win for you... the key to winning games is drawing cards and you can draw almost half your deck in one turn with the Auctioneer
The thing with miracle is that it's draw powe rmakes it rather unpredictable so it comes to how exactly your opponent can predict or answer your moves.
i other words, it depends on who you are playing against and not only the deck but the player as well, in wild for example you can queue as Freeze mage into 10 different secret paladins and you can win against nine and lose against one, and the one you lost against may not even be luck alone, he may know how to play the match-up and increase the odds of him winning even though Freeze mage is favored in the match-up.
I think that because you are playing on the wild ladder and are probably relatively low rank you might just be getting lucky in terms of matchups. I'm currently playing miracle at rank 7 and its tough to play correctly. You can lose matchups that you could have won just because of misplays. My recommendation would be to use it on the standard ladder, don't care if you lose, just try and get better with the deck. Here are some tips to play the deck better:
1. Always use a deck tracker
Using a deck tracker can increase your winrate with miracle by alot. When going off with auctioneer you can see how much damage is left in your deck to quickly calculate lethal. It sounds a bit minimalist, but it really, really helps.
2. Play slowly
The main mistake that I made as a new miracle player (and still make sometimes now) is playing too quickly. Consider all options, plan ahead. What will my opponent do if I play this? How would my opponent punish this play? Whats the best way of tackling this situation?
3. Sometimes you need to play aggressively
In some games, you need to just start cold blooding your minions and going face, possibly with a conceal. You need to recognize which situations you should do this. For example, if you are positive that your opponent is an aggro shaman, you have a bit of board control, and you can set up a 2 turn lethal with conceal, you should probably go for it. If you wait, you will just get burned to death by the shaman.
Thats all I have for now, as I am not the greatest miracle rogue player, but I hope it helps you. Good luck in the future!
Everything is easy at rank 10-20, it's only when around rank 5 to legend where the real competition is. I can put together a janky deck and rank to 15 easy.
