I'm hearing of people planning to disenchant cards and saying how they'll miss this card or that one. And then there are some complaining about how they wish Hearthstone would stay the same. Honestly, I don't get it. Isn't the whole point of Wild mode is to satisfy people who love Hearthstone the way it is? I then hear some saying Wild Mode will be unbalanced, but do you really believe Wild Mode will be much different than what the current Hearthstone would have been in a couple of months? It's not like the developers are nerfing cards and balancing the game every other week.
People are resistant to change. They like things how they are and don't want anyone changing how it is... yet at the same time, people seemed to welcome TGT and LOE.
I'm in the same boat as you. If I am not able to rank well in Standard due to not buying all needed meta cards, then I will enjoy wild and tavern brawl as I always have.
Personally I like the idea of having more options. Sometimes you wanna play the game without facing the same damned decks every match. This will add more variety to the game. I'm also pretty stoked to see how basic class cards will change.

Yeah I'm honestly looking forward to play BOTH Wild and Standard. I don't want to not be able to play the "old" cards ever again, and I still want to experience the new shifting meta. Win-win.
I'm getting tired in general of those who act like they know what it will be like -- they don't. And the more persistent theme lately is indeed that Standard will have all the action. There's lots of ways to end up feeling cynical about the game if all you listen to are ladder try-hards -- check out any Tavern Brawl thread on a Wednesday for proof of that.
I do find it difficult for my non-main accounts to know what to do. Buy GVG packs until crafting over packs becomes more efficient, or save gold for the new set? Buy first wing of Naxx to lock in rights to all wings, or let it go and try to craft those if I need to?
Well, Pro Players will probably get legend on both every month since they stream often and need stuff to do (how some of them get Legend on multiple servers etc). I think they'd be more focused on Standard at the end of the season for the Blizzcon points.
My only thing is, why do people think standard will bring about diversity to the game? Once the meta settles we will see the same decks over and over again anyway, in standard or wild. People will play what works best when it's try hard time.
Fwiw, I'm not excited or upset for standard. I like the game in general and will play pretty much regardless what they do :P

The game needs new modes, Standard will be good for it. What I greatly dislike is that they are going to stop selling older expansions and adventures thus having wild die a slow death to attrition.
Due to the fact that all future, official tournaments will be held on Standard Mode. In order to become a professional, or compete with them online, Standard Mode will be used. None of that Wild garbageo ;)

So again, what's the deal?
Because
The bulk of balance efforts will be dedicated to Standard.
Wild balancewill likely bereactive.
They will still take a conservative approach to balance.
So the balancing will be just as slow as it's been up until now except Wild will be EVEN MORE slow and will only see balancing if some really-really-really crazy stupid combo comes out, hence the "reactive".
Better question is: why are YOU pretending WIld Mode will exist?

When you dump something down the toilet it disappears while still existing in the sewers. Welcome to Wild mode, "it's not like they took our cards away".

Oh people know wild will exist, but do you lack common sense? Have you heard what they have said? Here is why it will suck.
1. New expansions will not take into account cards that are in wild. You know how easy it is to break a game. No not stupid secret paladin or miracle rogue, or whatever. I'm talking about making it absolute shit to play...literally broken. Not op decks, but broken and unplayable. Super easy.
2. They said they will only balance wild if turn 1 or turn 2 OTKs become a thing. Have u read these forums? People are in arms about druid's 14 damage combo on frickin' turn 9? So turn 1 or turn 2...30 damage? That is when they will address it.
3. Expansions/adventures that are sent to the wild graveyard will be no longer purchasable. This means wild is closed off to all new players. Only long time players with extensive collections of past adventures/expansions will be able to play.
Here is my counter question. Why do people say 'Wild will be the same as now?' Have they had too many drinks and their cognitive abilities are next to nil?
I'll play whatever mode is the most fun, and where I can clear quests easiest. Considering that 80% of the player base that plays ranked is at rank 15+ (according to Blizzard's stats), I think that similar logic will mean that a lot of people will play both as well.
New players should not start in Wild, but the barrier to entry is not that high, given the dust system. Blizzard needs Wild to act as a dust sink, as otherwise it will be too easy to keep up with Standard for people who keep up with their daily quests (and who are not concerned about getting to legend rank). Therefore, predictions that Blizzard wants Wild to die are off base.
Because people are dumb and don't seem to realize how popular Modern still is in MtG. It's going to be even easier cost-wise to get into Wild as well due to static crafting costs compared to Magic's bartering and varying reprint economy.

Lol, what? Blizzard's dust-to-craft ratio is horrible, and new players won't even get the chance to buy packs and "be lucky", they'll have to hard craft every single one of the Naxx and GvG cards if they want to play Wild. And they won't.

At least Modern's Ban List gets updated (almost annoyingly so) every 6 months-ish. Whatever the most dominant deck is, the premier card gets the hammer (so, basically, Eye of Ugin will probably get axed here within the year).

Some of you people are way overreacting. How do you even know it's going to be THAT bad? I bet it won't be. Back when I first started Hearthstone I would just look at the top decks in the meta and craft the cards I need for them. It shouldn't be that hard for new players to craft GvG or Naxx cards should they need them in Wild. It certainly wasn't for me as a F2P player. No need to buy 50 packs to get the some 5-10 cards you need in a deck...
Whatever cards the new expansions may bring, the meta will adjust to them. It always does.
Wild will be fine for a few years sure, because the card pool is not substantial yet.
but imagine in a few years, mage has a 5-10CMC legendary secret that does some crazy mess, then turn 2 mad scientist reigns supreme and its a pure mulligan fest.
People are upset that they won't. be able to use their dear cards in the MAIN GAME MODE ( standard). I fell like WIld it will be fun at first but then will be left at the trash

Balancing already is reactive. Or non-existent (e.g., Dr. Boom). Basically, they are saying how they balance wild will be the same as how they balance the game right now. And wild is the game right now, so...

People need to complain apparently... If Blizzard announced that they are gonna give 100 free Classic packs to everyone, they would complain about:
We want different packs
We want to chose the packs
It is not enough to catch up with "p2w users"
It arrives too late
They rather get gold instead to play arena
...^^'
