posted a message on Can everyone reach Legend?

    Going to go with no.

I somewhat hate when people say it's just time that allows players to get to legend. It's only partially true.

I've been to legend 3 times. Every time I wasn't actually trying to get to legend but I WAS playing to win (there's a bit of a difference imo). I never finish a season without reaching 5 for the epic foil card. Most months I top out around 2-4.

In my case 2 of 3 times I reached legend I went 5 to legend in one sitting (once was for thanksgiving break a few years ago where I had the house to myself son was an infant napping for a a good four to 5 hours and wife at work) another time I just played some miracle rogue with yogg on the last day of the season and some of my buddies started spectating me and kind of urged me to legend with just a few hours until reset.

The last time I got it with taunt warrior it did take a week or so from 5 to legend and about 85 to 100 games with somewhere around a 65 to 70 percent win rate with that deck (i would sometimes try to counter que or play decks for a quest).

So yes time can be a constraint, sure but you also have to win.

Fwiw, once I get to legend i usually dive right for the dumpster through a combination of just not being as good/trying out decks that I'm not good with or are meme-ish

posted a message on Looking for Hearthstone friends? Post your BattleTag Here 2.0

    Battletag: switch#1401

Playing Times: Anytime, really.  But, more frequent in the evenings and weekends.  Pacific Standard Time zone

Level of Experience: Generally finish the season ranked between 2-5, Been Legend twice, Once as combo Druid (Nov '15) and once as a homebrew Rogue I made (Aug '16).

Preferred Heroes: For now Priest and Rogue, last two golden heroes I need :P

Looking For: Conversation about the meta, play a friend quest, deck building tips, spectators - specifically need people to add me on EU for when I have friend related quests (80 gold and Spectate). I play primarily on NA but have an almost complete collection there so need the EU friend boost.

Good Luck! At the beginning of the season it may not fair well with all the aggro, but then again last day has a fair amount as well and i climbed from 4 to Legend.

Let me know how it treats you! Thanks!

Auctioneer was for cycle, I had very few games where it actually was setting something up (other than arcane giant a few times). It also acts as a soft taunt in most cases.

I don't have a ton of rogue experience, I still have less than 300 ranked Rogue wins, but playing around with other people's lists (Maly, Barnes, N'zoth, Leeroy/Cold Blood) I settled on this list and it felt comfortable/right for me and my play style.

posted a message on Nerf fiery war axe!!!

FWA is great in the early game, "just" good in the mid to late game.

If you have no protection for your early drops, don't just blindly play them 1 by 1 for 1-3 turns to just get axed down - common sense.

Warrior does have lots of "Cheap" Removal but they need to be used in tandem with other cards to really work well.

Shield Slam the card is 1 mana, the effect is roughly 1 mana /armor (you need to hero power, or use shield block/shieldbearer).

It's like Van Cleef. Yeah the card is 3 mana and can be huge, but he also cost the resources/mana of the other cards being played to buff his stats (or using something like prep sub-optimally just to make him larger [kappapride])

posted a message on Karazhan Priest Card not revealed yet

personally, for priest, I would hope for some kind of shield gain from over heal when x card is active. like a 2/3 3 mana drop, when this card is in play any time a minion is healed give the priest 1 point of shield (armor).

posted a message on New Mage Card - Babbling Book

I think it could be a good 1 of in Tempo Mage. For those complaining about the 1/1 body, what are you expecting? it contests classes without ping, or who play a 2 health minion (Flame Imp, Hunter Drops, it does also contest argent squire), The good (random) battlecry mechanic means it's no more of a dead card turn 10, 15, 20 than it is on 1.

At the very least it's worth a look.

posted a message on Looking for a Specific type of Spreadsheet

So I've searched around a bit (google, hearthpwn search function) and haven't quite been able to find what I'm looking for exactly.

Does anyone know of a spreadsheet that can somehow track win percentages of specific cards played in a given deck? Of course it'd have traditional win/loss tracking stats, but I'm interested in delving a little bit further.

For example, let's say I play Tempo Mage. It's fairly easy to calculate my overall win rate, and even my win rate versus specific classes. What I'm looking for is something that can then look at each card in my deck, and assign the cards a win rate - like when Fireball is played I win Z% of the time.

Would be even more neat if it could somehow track something like 1st Fireball played has X% win rate, when/if 2nd Fireball played it has a Y% win rate (to kind of gauge what cards are important to play 1 ofs or 2 ofs).

I know I might be seeking the impossible, but thought I'd ask our (mostly) great community here.

posted a message on The Raven Idol Brawl is the single most skill-dependent game mode in Hearthstone

This is a really annoying brawl, and the first few turns move at a snails pace. Discover is controlled RNG, but still RNG. When you have to pick from three Turd-value cards you still end up with a turd.

The Yogg'Saron try out brawl was probably the worst I've seen though. I got my win after 3 games and called it a week for Tavern Brawl, didn't even log into EU for my free card pack. :P

posted a message on Do people feel good playing/winning as a Zoolock?

I know, I like playing Control Warrior (and Priest/Renolock although the latter 2 are very weak right now imo).

I just think that people need to understand Hearthstone would be boring if only 1 archetype existed. They also tend to remember the times they lost in spectacularly (bad) fashion and don't remember when they pulled out those 1 HP wins when you're waiting to see if your opponent top decked lethal or some such scenario.

posted a message on Do people feel good playing/winning as a Zoolock?

I don't really enjoy it much, but I don't hate it. Zoo is a strong deck and will probably always be a strong deck. I don't consider it an aggressive deck though, more board control then (often times) silly combo finisher which can increase the sodium levels. Such as life though.

Yes, it does require a modicum of skill but isn't really the hardest of decks to pilot and is great to learn the game (basic trading versus going face and such decisions).

I find control decks the most mindless to pilot though - unless it's a control mirror, then often times it just comes down to RNG from who draws what first or if both are running Elise, then it comes down to Monkey RNG and that I think is the single MOST frustrating fashion to lose a game in hearthstone (with amazing Yogg'Saron turns coming in a very close second).

    Just my 2 copper though.

posted a message on Guys Leeroy Jenkins in Zoo is just not good

They are different cards. There will be some instances where one will be better than the other, that's the nature of the way the game works.

I used to be against Doomguard for the Discard effect, because it felt painful (sometimes) discarding two high value cards. However, Doomguard isn't just a finisher whereas Leeroy is. There are many times where I've played DG on turn 5 or 4 with coin, discarded two good cards, but go on to win the game because the trading power of a 5/7 with charge is amazing. I think we overvalue cards when they're milled or discarded. Just think of them as never being drawn - because very seldom do you go to fatigue as Zoo anyway.

posted a message on Is Faceshaman still viable?

It's still viable buttttt, I have also ran into a plethora of Warrior the last few days. I'm holding at rank 3 with like a 55% win rate. As soon as I switch to Hunter though then I face a ton of Zoo. :P

If we're talking cards I hate in a vacuum

Entomb - Removal, doesn't trigger DR, adds to your opponent's card count to help in fatigue wars

Conceal - So dumb, as most classes don't have a consistent answer to multiple units with more than 2 health that are stealthed

    Sheep/Hex

posted a message on Anyone renolocking?

I enjoy playing reno lock but this season has been pretty rough for me starting out. Shaman and Zoo with a moderately good start (Brokeback) just overwhelm you unless you draw near perfectly or they misplay badly.

I was however using the C'Thun Combo-less Version. I did switch it up to a deathrattle N'zoth Combo version and went 3-0 to start off with it. In all the games of Renolock I've played so far this season, Jaraxxus has felt like such a dead card for me because everyone seems to be running big burst nowadays, even the rare and elusive Priest with Auchenai + Flash Heal or Embrace the Darkness + Flash Heal etc etc can be scary. Ragnaros has been an MVP and N'zoth if you bait out their board clears is Money. Alexstraza has also done some work for me and combed with N'zoth is so devastating to the opponent - Drop N'zoth get a full board, Alex opponent next turn for the kill.
