Astral Communion is very very very good now. It doesn't even matter that you discard your whole hand. If you're playing a heavy ramp deck, chances are that Excess Mana is going to give you a huge drop that you can immediately play.
I fell into the same trap reading the original clarification. They originally left out that you have to be at 10 mana for that to happen.
I don't understand yet. If you play it on 4 mana, it should still give you the Excess Mana right??
What we really need to make it totally OP is a card that says "When you discard this card, draw a card"
What about getting the new discard damage warlock card from the new legendary fella and playing it with all this going on. Could finally start shaping up like MTG :-)

They recently clarified that this only happens when you play this card when you're at 10 mana. I also thought this card was completely broken for a few minutes.
yeah but wild growth gives you a card to draw cards if it is played at full crystals.. this should give something even better. did they announce anything?

Nothing has been confirmed, but everything points to no additional effect at full mana.
But now instead of a early game only option, on turn 10 you can play up to a six drop, play this, get full mana and a card, then play up to a 10 drop which is pretty strong. It may even be better as a turn 10 play than an early play, especially if you're low on cards late game.
Darn, that clarification makes this card a lot worse imo. Now the second copy is basically 4 mana, discard your hand, draw a card. I guess that's good if you're still in topdeck mode since you can cycle it, but now you "only" have 6 mana left in a deck likely designed around summoning 7-9 mana minions. Would have been better if the second copy just refilled your mana bar like other similarly worded cards.

Card would be fantastic if it cycled itself and recharged your mana at 10 Mana Crystals.
