I was playing whizzbang shaman today. My Thief Rogue opponent played Zentimo + Backstab on an undamaged minion. The minions on the side were already damaged but got backstabbed anyway, losing 2 health points. Is this a bug or is it a mechanic I don't understand ?
The condition: "undamaged", to cast backstab is checked only on the minion it was casted. Zentimo will Recast the spell on adjacent minions whithout checking any conditions, the condition was checked only on the original target.
Zentimo text says: "whenever you target a minion with a spell, it also targets adjacent ones", there is no "IF" to check for condition here.
My guess, is that if you cast a spell, like: Sacrificial Pact on a demon, while zentimo is alive, it would also kill adjacent minions, even if they are not demons, i know it sounds confusing, but like i said, zentimo's text doesn't check conditions, it just recasts the spell no matter what.

That's a weird interaction and makes Zentimo even stronger. What about Zentimo + a spell with "if it survives", like Toxic Arrow or overkill like Baited Arrow ?

And Well, it's weird... those spells do check individually...
So... had Zentimo on board and targeted Baited Arrow on a 3 health minion, the neighbors of the "3 health minion" were a 1 health minion on the left and another 3 health minion on the right.
The Baited Arrow hits my primary target on the middle (the 3 health one), as expected, the Overkill was not activated, because there was no overkill. Then, Baited Arrow hits the 1 health minion on the left, Overkill was activated and a Devilsaur was sumoned. Last, Baited Arrow hits the other 3 health minion on the right, no Devilsaur was sumoned.
Same thing happened with Toxic Arrow, poison was given individually, depending if each minion survives.
Well, my guess it's because this happens "AFTER" the spell was cast ? but the condition like Backstab is "Before" the spell to be cast, so that's the difference ?
Also, tested Sacrificial Pact interaction right now too, and it works like i said before, it kills the targeted demon and even 2 other "normal" non-demon neighbors.
Hope it helps. I needed some Lorewalker Cho setup and friend battle to test this Zentimo interactions, lol xD
I don't think this makes Zentimo a lot more powerfull, tho, because, for you, to have acess to other powerfull classes specific spells, you'll need a lot of Godlike RNG, but is possible with Thief Priest tho, but it's very rare. =)
i belive it cast the spells like this, both the toxic arrow and baited arrow have the condition as part of the spell so zentimo casts the spell and the spellcchecks those conditions, backstab and pain have the condition to target the spell and them cast it those arent checked as zentimo will cast the spell on adjacent minions

That's a good explanation.

If I remember correctly I saw a clip with a Priest who played Zentimo+sw:pain and killed a 2 attack minion and two > 2 attack minions as well.
The question is whether or not this was intended by Blizzard.
My guess is that this is working as intended.
The condition: "undamaged", to cast backstab is checked only on the minion it was casted. Zentimo will Recast the spell on adjacent minions whithout checking any conditions, the condition was checked only on the original target.

It is only a restriction for targeting, but the effect of the spell is to damage a minion. It is intended to work that way.
Works as intended. Spellbender used to get killed by Shadow Word: Death a lot back in a day :)

might be correct. it says it casts on it's neighbours. does that mean it will just auto cast and ignore the text on the spell?

Just tested with both Toxic Arrow and Baited Arrow .

Thank you for taking the time to check this.
