Why does this 3 mana card cost 4 mana? Sure the coin is worth more than one mana, since you can use it as an activator in rogue, but you only get it conditionally.
Over-costed; considering the history of 2 mana "deal 3 damage" spells, the other effect is conditional so getting the coin isn't always a guarantee (like Quick Shot) there was no reason to set the cost so high. And yeah, you can use Preparation to make the card usable, but this seems to be the troubling theme of this set where you can't just use a card, you have to use it with a bunch of other cards to make it "good enough". I'm sorry, but if a card isn't good enough to play by itself, it's not going to see play in constructed. This card should have been a 2 mana, 3 mana max costed card.

Imo the only deck this wants to go in is Malygos Rogue, were the coin helps to set up otk. The thing with Counterfit in Malygos was, you realy counldt play the coin because you need it as win condition, this is basically playable coin with an effekt. I say its good there.
I dunno I was thinking this was OK at first as maybe a one of, but I don't think it's even good enough to replace something like Shiv in Miracle. Once you start cycling, even if you Prep, you are still better off with Fan of Knives or Shiv that are also free and get you 2 cards but don't require a target that you must kill. I will try to make it work but doubtful.
Who knows maybe there is more benefits to the to coin than Auctionneer coming up, like a powerful 6 cost combo card, but for now its meh.
This card would be exciting at 3 mana. They probably tested it at 3 mana and discovered that a starting hand with this, preparation, and Edwin would just win a lot of games. And that was the actual problem, not the Gadgetzan turns.
Perhaps, but they could have modified the damage to compensate if that was the problem. I understand why it costs 4, but I don't understand why it only does 3 damage given the restrictions on it.
This is not what you want to draw in a Gadgetzan's turn.
Gadgetzan + Prep + Wanted + new Coin
unreliable, 2 situational
Not really.
Even in your dream scenario you forgot that you have to kill a minion to get the coin.
Killing minions isn't hard. Even if this isn't used in conjunction with Gadgetzan, it's not situational as you claim. You could use it on 4 to gain the coin and have an activator for Vilespine, SI7, 'There Once Was A Man From Gilneas...', etc, or use it right away on 4 to play a follow up Firefly. Or save the coin for your actual Gadgetzan turn.
Also let's talk about situational cards - they're totally fine to put in contructed decks. A lot of decks put 'situational' cards (more commonly just called tech choices) in their deck, some are spells and some are understatted minions (like Harrison).

WANTED: NEW HEARTHSTONE'S PRINTERS
piola para miracle rogue :3
I don't know if this is good but this is the card i have to Vote for Best flavor in all of Hearthstone.
Just nah.
It would be good at 3 mana, but dealing 3 damage to minion ( and possibly getting a coin ) for 4 mana? Nah.
Probably not good enough even if the Coin weren't conditional.

I suspect that it costs 4 mana due to the existence of Preparation. We might see a Prep HOF in the future.

Although somewhat weak, a coin on rogue is pretty bonkers. might see play
Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.
This seems crazy good (with Gadgetzan + Prep) if a new variant of Miracle Rogue emerges.
