Let's be honest, everyone knows this card was made to counter jade idol. Sure, it has some other purposes but the reason this was made was jade idol. So why not just directly address the problem, and fix jade idol? The card is annoying and horribly designed, most people could see that from the beginning.
Did Blizzard make skulking geist so that they didn't have to admit jade idol was a mistake?
no we don't even have to play this if they just dont create a FUCKING INFESTATION and SPREAD FUCKING 20 HP WALL WORTH
while compare to warlock. they give nothing but a very powerful Hero without any synergy because they decide that draw card from hero power is OP and they can't have a good card. but they give druid a draw 5 out of nothing deal 5 damage play 5/5 and 5 armor now druid always has 9 card in their hand. The reason why potion of madness is destroyed more often is because priest is playing Skulking Geist and most of the time even if the destroy Idol they also destroy potion and the obviously also play against other priests. Also if it was so bad against jade druid why would increase the winrate so much. Also If your opponent has a very good start 1 tech card alone won't win you the game.

Yes, absolutely they did. Blizzard have always loved the idea of jades, particularly jade druid, it allows idiots to pretend they are playing a slow, decision based deck, when actually they are playing a deck that compensates more for mistakes than we've ever seen before. The mechanic dumbs the game down in the most tragic fashion.
Skulking geist was just a pacifier for people on the expansion hype train, predicting jade druid would destroy the new 'more powerful than ever' control cards. Blizzard released many of these, but also deliberately releases a lot of cards to strengthen jade druids weaknesses, their early and mid game defense - smacks of bait and switch BS. Honestly its disgusting, and only continual crying about jade druid is the answer now, we have to try and make them listen, as they clearly still FUCKING LOVE jade druid and want it to stay.
Lastly, it's no surprise their are many apologist for jade druids, just as there were for pirate warriors. Many people love playing unfairly powerful decks for their free wins, makes them feel good. We know that ladder right now is about 40% druid, 35% jade druid, and it gets worse the higher up the ladder you are. Beyond rank 5 the game is currently a joke. It's all a real shame as the expansion looked really interesting, and people are still in honeymoon with new cards, trying to make more interesting decks work...they are largely failing, thanks to fucking jade druid.
YES! Holy crap, I had to switch ladders just so I could shift over to the teens again and play something other than a god damned druid. I can't speak for sub-5. I was 6 when the druidic horde arrived.
Geist does his job fine. It gives chance for slower decks to win the late game against jade druid, which was impossible before. It seems that some people wanted it to be auto-win card for the matchup, which would be stupid. Currently it sees play and does impact the decks and winrates.
I do agree the new taunt Druid is also pretty stupid. 2 mana 1/5 is like a big fuck you to the community. The problem with really overstated minions like that, is the fact that aggro decks would run them too. Taunt is mostly a control mechanic, but something like Druid of swarm is incredibly broken as a 2 drop. Spreading plague is also incredible dumb. It is too much value. Just three to four minions on an empty board is 15-20 health.and when you buff the taunts with the new bolster for Druid. It is just incredibly unfair. And the new 10 mana card is really insane value.
Confused why blizzard hasn't tried a 'can't attack players' mechanic if they want to really overstat defensive minions.
I agree, this expansion could have allowed for sooo many new deck archetypes, and the return of old ones, but most of those pale in confront to what is Druid now, so only the strongest decks have a chance to be competitive. Druid, right now, is single handedly shaping up the meta by itself: "If a deck is not decent against Druid, it's garbage" and I can't even tell a single deck that is good against Jade Druid right now.
Also, the concept of "a tech card shouldn't win a game" is wrong. When I play a Golakka Crawler against Pirate Warrior my chances to win skyrocket. When I play Eater of Secrets against Freeze Mage, I just instantly win. The higher the cost of the tech card, the higher the swing you get. A 6 mana tech card, that basically only counters a single card in a single deck, should just win the game right then. It should have something like "Gain +2/+2 for each card destroyed from your opponent" to be a good enough tech card. At least give it taunt ffs.

Jade Druid is strong because busted cards they gave him in this expansion they don't even require to play Jade idol anymore.
It is clunky but it does the job for me-at least it exists. But I agree, it should have been either 6/7 or 5 mana. Or maybe just give it taunt.
