As you can tell I run two drakonid crushers and that is becaues a 6, or even 4, mana 9/9 is extremely powerful and I often have them at 18-20 health with a decent board.
So my question is: Should I craft Alex? It would be useful to have a last-ditch heal, to be able to force a heal or threaten lethal, or to get a just about guaranteed 9/9 the next turn. But I am unsure.
It seems to me that Alex fits in two specific archetypes, Control Warrior and Freeze Mage. Other than those decks, there will always be something better to put in than Alex. Maybe a Burn Shaman, but even there a Malygos is probably better-in-slot.
If you're looking for healing, you're better off crafting Forbidden Healing. Cheaper, can be used on any turn, and heals for much more than Alex. Your deck doesn't look like it's trying to burst a player down, so setting the enemy health to 15 seems pretty meaningless. I'd say pass on Alex unless you're trying to branch out.
I would probably go with Ysera over Nefarian or Alex. If you can bait out removal with some of your dragon buffed minions, ysera is a pretty solid win condition. I'm a little confused by the knife juggler, you don't flood the board enough to really gain value from it, either a flame juggler, faerie dragon or jeweled scarab would be better if you just wanna fill your mana curve.
Ysera is a better choice for this deck. If you can manage a turn 5 dragon consort turn 6 coin ysera it's a big problem for the opponent, though it's often better to play nefarian first to bait out removal.

I play primarily this deck:

If you're needing more heals, run Forbidden Healing instead, and another Lay on Hands.
Alex is more suited for Freeze Mage/Fatigue Warrior.
