I don’t think that people “hate” wild, it’s just not relevant to anyone but the most hardcore collectors and players. As a F2P guy who started HS this year, and who can barely keep up with each new expansion, Wild is a format that I’m realistically never going to play unless blizzard does the obvious thing and makes old packs available at a 50-75% reduced cost
Wild is not diverse, in my experience. Sure, you'll face some jank deck that either sucks or kills you out of nowhere because you unwittingly stepped into a trap, or there was literally nothing you could do about it because your opponent finally got that dream hand. But mostly you'll just face decks that are like 3 - 4 years old, or standard decks on steroids. Wild is ok, but it's not any better than standard.
I have been playing wild a bit more in the last few months, because standard hunter/roguestone was getting tiring. Wild is really fun! but it can be equally if not more frustrating to play.
Barnes is a big problem. When you play against a priest with Barnes on 4, your win condition is generally hoping your opponent low rolls for the rest of the game. There are a few other decks that have this kind of power spike that makes ranked very frustrating to play. Thekal Mountain Giant is one. Skull-> Malgannis is another. Barnes Yshaarj in a number of decks.
I've found peace in auto-conceding on some plays, like Barnes-> Obsidian Statue. It makes my experience more fun because I spend less time playing those painful matchups.
However, I think there is a big misconception about the wild meta. While there are certainly netdeckers out there, I think there is a pool of players that must see those kinds of decks and then stop queuing. If you play for an hour or two on the wild ladder, you might see a lot of different decks. I see different decks all the time and it is inspiring!! Some decks look really fun to play. I have mostly cards from UnGoro and beyond but with just a little dust I can craft some common cards to make a deck that is fun to play and has streak potential. I climbed to rank 5 in wild by queuing mech hunter, which is an under 2k dust requirement.
Wild is also more fun because while there is a common rotation of decks you might see, you also generally can't predict how games will go whatsoever, so you can play a little more recklessly and still have fun and win games. Literally anything is possible. Moreso than in standard where the meta has become such a fine chess that frequently matches depend on saving x card to counter y play. The player pool is much smaller than standard, at least in NA, and at the times I play often I will counterqueue the same opponent multiple times in a row. That very random kind of tournament style play on the ladder can be a fun experience.
I love wild. There you have more chances of making a made up deck that doesn't need to work against the current standard-meta-decks, which I find REALLY boring...
I feel that people disliking wild are just disliking not knowing what deck my end up playing against, instead of knowing the 10 meta decks everyone use on standard... The just feel lost with the options.
As a new player, I can't agree more with everything people wrote in this topic. Wild is less populated, so you'll face Big Priests/Barnes/Renolock, etc. more often. Why is it less played? Because of the COST.
I'm beginning to venture on wild, have had some fun and crazy ideas (the card pool is huge, so you can build infinite decks, fun and competitive as well), but the cost is prohibitive.
The problem is simple, as stated above... Blizzard could just cut the price of wild card packs/bundles...
But probably it wouldn't be profitable for them... otherwise, they would have that idea already!! That's a shame. It would be much more pleasing to play this game without that freaking meta hype!!
Wild will always be more fun to me because of all the cards I can choose from, and I love making new decks. It's probably totally different if you started out later and don't already have a collection. Not many want to invest all that time or money into a wild collection I guess.
In a perfect world, everyone would play different and fun decks. But in reality, people just play the most broken and/or cheap decks. Ex: Mech Hunter, Odd Rogue (before nerf), Big Priest, Even Shaman. I love wild and almost strictly play it, but it can get very annoying at times.
i think that the format is intencionally not balance so it will never become popular, standar will always be pushed because its a rotating format where people have to spend money on the game to build up a collection,in wild you can play like pirate warrior forever and not have to buy new cards so its much cheaper alternative is the main reason i think is not pushed.

I would rather have my teeth pulled than play Pirate Warrior (or any other specific archetype) forever.
There is NOTHING to "push". People are very happy to spend money on the new cards to play a VARIETY of decks.
I don;t necessarily hate it, i'm just afraid of it because i'm bad at making decks and wouldn't know what would be the best deck to make with all of the cards at my disposal. Also, I don't have any of the Naxxramas cards and I missed out on a lot of GVG so I feel like I would be a t a disadvantage.
I changed to wild a few weeks ago and like it. It happened due to me always wantign to show that things are possible. People complaining on big priest and saying druid is garbage (except jade)... so i go for far off meta druid teraring big priest appart.. LoL ... about 100 games from 25 to 5.... Lets see how it goes on.
When we get complaints about a card, people just say “dont worry it will rotate out soon”. Is that really a solution??. People enjoy Wild because it has far more variety of decks than boring Standard yet its being treated like a garbage can.
Is there a reason why people hate Wild??.
I guess it has become quite obvious in this thread, that people don’t generally hate wild, in fact lots of people play it. It’s simple your twisted view on it.
Most of all the “problem” cards are only really problematic in standard. So once they rotate out, they will not be nearly as predominant in wild.

ONE CARD BARNES
I really do love playing wild, but Barnes on turn 4 just sucks the life out of me and I just end up conceding if that happens.
Golden heroes: Warlock, Druid, Mage, Hunter
Hate? Why use your own perception? Nobody HATES wild. Those whom play love their decks. I still try really hard with Astral Druid.
The only thing that turns my stomach in wild is when I play against standard meta and they curve out better than me :)
I enjoy.
Gotta bump-ditty
I enjoy.

I love wild. I specifically enjoy building meme decks to bully Big Priests :D

In wild you can play Renolock, so it's a good format.

Wild is more fun i agree but barnes is still a problem.
I love playing Wild. Jade Druid is still a thing, my Discolock works really well and the most important reason of all....
Renounce Darkness....
A deck consisting of double Renounce Darkness, 26 Random Spells, Barnes and Ragnaros the Firelord is all you need for shits and giggles.
4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔
