Mostly People do not have old cards because they dust them for newer cards or they have not been playing for 4 years like I have been. I enjoy wild because it reminds of the first 2 years of when I was playing. Also wild is not nerfed or checked often like standard is, I still think Barnes needs a nerf to 5 or 6 mana but Blizzard does not look at wild; and thus a lot of players will stay away from wild.
I've tried to play Wild a few times and those reno locks are insane. You get them within lethal, they are full health, cleared your board, and now have a board and I'm scratching my head going, "WTF just happened...?"
Secondly, I hate control...and that is all there seems to be in Wild. Lots and lots of control. Matches take twice as long in Wild because you have Reno decks, Death Knights, and in Priest's case, Amara. I mean...I don't have that kind of time to allow fatigue to kill me. I just don't.
I like to get in, get out and move onto the next match. I've spectated my friends playing in Wild, and it's just nuts. The learning curve is also high. I have to learn all the old cards, combos, and possibly invest in crafting quite a bit because I am F2P. I've been playing since Old Gods, but I missed out on Naxxrammas.
Anyway, it's not because I'm "basic", "afraid of change", or anything like that - I just don't like control. I don't want to sit here and have to do 160 pts of face damage per match. I'm not willing to devote that kind of time to a single match. I imagine it will only get worse as time goes on. Also, I wouldn't even know where to start in Wild. Does Wild actually have it's own metagame? I don't know....it seems like nonsensical, controlling, chaos to me. Which is NOT my idea of fun.
Wild is where Standard cards go to die, but from what I've seen, nothing stays dead in Wild...
Then play aggro in wild and your games won't last long.
You're right because I'll consistently be losing to all the tools control decks have - I'll get eaten alive.
When we get complaints about a card, people just say “dont worry it will rotate out soon”. Is that really a solution??. People enjoy Wild because it has far more variety of decks than boring Standard yet its being treated like a garbage can.
Is there a reason why people hate Wild??.
I ventured into wild with my heal zoolock. I got my mage opponent down to 12hp...
Reno Jackson>Sylvanas>Frost Lich Jaina
I force closed the app and haven't bothered to log back in - I can finish my quests tomorrow. This was at rank 25: I imagine it gets even more worse/broken the higher up the ladder you climb.
Wild: where all the decks/cards you despise come to life...and you wonder why people hate the format?
All I think of when I think of Wild are...
Reno decks, Jade druids, Kingsbane Rogue, Pirate Warrior and any other nonsense I was glad to see rotate.
On top of all that, they expect me to pay money to torture myself with their abominations? How about no Scott...
Aha so you played a standard deck agains ta low tier 3 wild deck and your mad you lost? A lot of the decks you found oppresive are fairly weak in Wild. Wild's actually pretty balanced in its own wierd way for the most part and the meta is way more varied then Standard.
This was maybe my third time in Wild, and I don't have a single wild deck. Not a one. I just wanted to see what it would be like in the lower ranks...just to see.
I hate death knights in standard. So, on top of Reno, you NOW have Death Knights to contend with, and if that is fun to you, more power to you! I don't knock people that play Wild and I don't dust my Wild cards either. You never know: I might change my mind or get bored with the other formats.
For now, I choose to play standard because I don't want to relive all the senseless nonsense I was glad to see leave Standard. I don't understand why that is such a mind bender for people.
Secondly, I play what wins. If there was maybe a VS report for Wild, I might look into it and see what I can accomplish [If there is, I clearly am ignorant of its existence...I will look it up after this post] but from where I am standing, I'm quite literally going in blind. I am not wasting dust or my time on a deck that won't win.
Winning is fun to me and my preferred playstyle is agrro/midrange. All of my experiences in Wild have been against more control than anything. I've watched my high rank friends play Wild and those matches last forever at the high ranks. I understand people enjoy Wild and that's fine!
But it seems like people think there is something wrong with me because my few encounters in Wild have been highly negative. I tried it - I didn't like it. The end. I guess it's one of those things I have to keep playing, eh? Maybe out of 10 Renolock matches I MIGHT find an agrro match?
Or...I could keep playing Standard where control exists, but it's not nearly as long and drawn out as Wild. I mean, that is what is best for me. Wild is what is best for you.
Why can't we leave it at that? I hate death knights. I hate Reno. I hate control. But I guess that makes me a freak or something...
PS. There IS a VS Wild Report here: https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/wild-vs-data-reaper-report-16/ According to the report, Priest is the most popular deck until Rank 5. That is A LOT of Priest and A LOT of control which furthers my point that Wild is nothing but control...I hate control. It did mention Kingsbane Rogue (I don't have Kingsbane) and it mentioned Mage (I don't have Aluneth) as well as Warlock. (I don't have Skull, or Voidlords.) So, to play to win, I'd have to craft at LEAST one legendary just to compete and I'm pretty sure most mages run FLJ...so that would be two. Kingsbane Rogue might be cheaper but not by much as I don't have Prep.
I do not think anyone think you are weird for not enjoying wild. Wild is not for everyone, simple as that. However. What seemed to puzzle people was the statement that there are only controll decks in wild. Since that is far, far from true. Yes, there are Reno and control, decks out there. But it is also loads of hyper aggressive decks. Some decks can even win games by turn 4 or 5.
It's going to be funny seeing how many people regret dusting their year of the mammoth cards (based on their power level) if they want to try wild later. Honestly wild seems daunting, but truly is a much more f2p friendly option down the line because you aren't actually wasting your cards. If you hold onto your cards you can make a decent deck for ladder easy in due time (if your collection is limited). Also if you're playing for fun, then wild just caters far much more to synergies and intriguing gameplay. It's also rewarding putting big priest and jade players in their place.
It seems like most the wild hate is a gang mentality thing honestly. I'm glad there are players like Dane, Solem, Control, and Gros Ghiles who showcase the mode for how fun, wacky or great it can be.
I think something to note about this is also casual versus ranked. The people who play wild casual tend to be extremely powerful players and since the population in wild is very low, you can get matched against the same players two or three times in a row. Going into wild casual trying to get a quest done, while playing fringe decks against the constructed decks of wild (which the power levels are off the charts) tends to be discouraging to a lot of players.

They took my trophies....
I hate Wild because is the compilation of all the cards that I despise.
Entomb for example.
