Priest is a dead class(except at legend) till Tickatus gets a nerf and there's a good chance it will next week. Just wait for nerfs if you want control to be viable.

It's dead because of ONE bad matchup? Sure, so Paladin is also dead. And Warrior. And Hunter. And Rogue. OMG, everyone is dead!
I'd advise against it. Control decks overall aren't cutting it in the meta right now. I was stuck at D5-D3 playing control lock since I'm fairly new after 2 years hiatus and had no cards for standard. Dusted a whole lot and crafted control lock before checking viability. Switched over to aggro paladin yesterday, hit legend now. So I'd say play something cheap like face hunter if the goal is to reach legend, or go for control lock if you just want to try it out for fun.
I have been trying to find any alternative control option during this expansion that isn’t Warlock as I dont have cards like Tickatus, Tamsin Roame, or Malicia, but it honestly seems like Control warrior or priest are completely hopeless in this meta. I have been staying away from the idea of Warlock as i would need to craft multiple legendaries, but cards like Cascading Disaster and Tamsin just seem amazing and i’m sick of having my board cleared like theres no tomorrow....and getting my deck burned on the same turn. Should i bite the bullet on this class or do you guys think there’s any hope for other control archetypes?
I don’t even understand this post. “This meta” rotates around mage, Paladin, hunter, and rush warrior, ALL of which priest is favored into. Warlock has a terrible matchup into mage/hunter, an ok one into Paladin, and is decent against rush warrior, whereas again priest is extremely favored into all 4.

Of those decks, Face Hunter is the only one that heavily favors Priest. The rest are even odds at best. Most Mage match-ups are bad news for Priest.

Control Warlock's lowest winrate matchup (Hunter) still has it at 46% on HSReplay.
I have no idea where these people are coming out of the woodwork to say that it just loses to decks that aren't control. It's at a SLIGHT disadvantage against aggressive decks; it still has so much removal and healing through Soul Shards and the like.
Warlock likely has an overall bad winrate on HSReplay due to lower WR zoo decks and poorly put together control.

Uh, what version of HSReplay are you looking at? I am looking right now and Control Lock's lowest winrate is 31% vs Stealth Rogue
They also have sub-40 against most Demon Hunter builds, Clown Druid, Secret Pally, and a couple of Hunter builds. And then 41 against Aggro Sham and about 45 against most mage builds

Sorry but I gotta throw out the “what are you talking about.” Priest is very good into spell mage unless they get double incanters top 15, and then I’d call it even.
Paladin is also an easy matchup unless you just absolutely get a trash hand.
Rush warrior is almost not even a game. They can never stick a board that you can’t just wipe up. Mass hysteria just destroys it, and you can easily outheal the early pressure.
Idk, I main priest, and the list I run is built to contest these four decks, while just hitting the concede button into warlock. It’s pointless to build priest to maybe have a chance into lock with random techs, so I just take the matchup is a loss.
Idk how any priest has an issue with spell mage. Again, with the exception of double incanters backed by card draw (super highroll that hardly any deck is beating) the matchup is beyond easy. You have infinitely more healing than they have burn.
Overall winrates by class. Even the second most popular control warlock deck's worst class based matchup is a 48% winrate. 56-58% winrate overall is by no means bad is what I'm saying. People acting like it's a terrible deck and just can't win in certain matchups is ridiculous.

Why would you talk about winrates by class? That doesnt make any sense to do when one class can have both aggro and control options, and when one deck may have a much lower playrate than another.
I'm not saying Warlock isn't strong, but you're trying to position it like it has no weaknesses

The cards you are missing are in the Warlock Battle Ready deck that will be available for purchase very soon

You will be disappointed to find out that outside of Bronze, Warlock doesn't do very well. It's passive and loses to tempo, aggro and burn decks.
