With all these threads about Reno Jackson I figured it would be nice to ask about which cards you are most sad to see rotate out of standard. While it may still be months away, I think if we are to discuss the subject, we may as well do so in depth.
I personally will miss Brann Bronzebeard Though cards such as Gang Up were also fun to play with while they lasted.
On the other hand, decks such as Aviana-Kun will no longer be playable either, once they loose their key defining combo. Aviana being also introduced with TGT Not only that but Raven Idol from LoE is looking to be scraped as well.
What's more, Rogue will continue to suffer from Blizzard's neglect as they loose Burgle which is kinda funny to me, considering how hard Blizzard has been pushing this archetype. Though personally I think the biggest loss facing Rogue in the future is Tomb Pillager and Unearthed Raptor
All I can say is that with so many good cards rotating out, Blizzard had better be planning ahead and have something good prepared.
So, which card(s) are you most likely to miss in the upcoming season?
True, there is always the option to play wild. However, unless you have been playing since the game's release, you may feel disadvantaged, not being able to purchase cards from GvG or Naxx any longer.
That is also true, but not everyone has the dust available to start crafting cards that are only playable in Wild Format. I wish I had enough dust to afford every legendary in the game, but thats simply not realistic for someone like me. I can maybe craft a new legendary once every month, depending on how often I play.
Think about it this way, average pack you purchase you are net gaining dust. Every card you craft for wild, you are at a net loss.
On the other hand, if you instead are crafting for standard, you are spending less dust because the cards you are opening are already set in the Standard venue (there are less cards therefore that you will need to craft).
It is both impractical to convert to wild retroactively and unreasonable for Blizzard to assume their player base will do so. It not only costs money, and dust, but also a significant amount of time for a venue that will ultimately never be balanced by the developers in the first place.
Oddly, this means that when Blizzard is balancing cards for standard, they are often making those same cards worse for play in wild.
Well as far as standard is going I'm sure we will be fine I know this has been talked about to death but I still want classic or at least part of classic rotated out as well and be able to start from scratch but I am very interested to see the cards falling out because I feel like it will be the rise of completely all new decks! I'm not too worried because everyone will be at a disadvantage.
I will miss Beneath the Grounds because it was a great tech against those Reno decks.
Argent Horserider will be also missed by me, mostly because it's value in Smuggler Paladin (3 mana 5/4 with Divine Shield and Charge), and of course it's Play sound.
not being able to purchase cards from GvG or Naxx any longer.
You can craft them though.
do you have any idea how much dust you would need to craft those cards especially if any of them are legendaries that reason alone would make wild unplayble for most pepole even for the ones who do pay for the game
I mained shaman and I'm going to miss those cards even they're rarely used nowadays, I really felt those cards are what shaman needed since he has lack of class drawing card, combo with Hallazeal the Ascended and great healing card (Waterspeaker isn't going to be enough), They are old right but still damn good. But aggressive or overpowered cards like Totem Golem and Flamewaker, they are belong to the wild format.
The Year of the Mammoth is Upon us! Pretty soon Black Rock Mountain (BRM), The Grand Tournament (TGT), and League of Explorers (LoE) will be rotating out of Standard into the Wild Format. I had the urge to know what cards will YOU miss when the New Year hits. You are encouraged to list as many cards as you like but please try to explain why you will miss them.
For me I will list at least one card from each set so the list won't be that long
From BRM:
Gang Up The reason I'll miss this card is because it had such a crazy effect and it was one of the first cards that made Mill deck somewhat viable for a time being, Mill Druid I know for a while was a thing but I feel Mill Rouge just took it to another level.
From TGT:
Astral Communion This card is Super wacky, It gave Ramp Druid an interesting way to Ramp out with Mana crystals. Although Astral Druid never became a serious deck on ladder mostly because of it's inconsistency, it still gave way to some really awesome gameplay in my experience.
From LoE:
Dark Peddler Dark Peddler was one of the first Discover effects that was introduced into the game. No one really knew at the time How good Discover was going to be when it was released but as Hearthstone Progressed the Discover Mechanic really took off. I remember when I was laddering with zoolock During LoE and adding Dark Peddler was absolutely insane in zoo. This card is probably going to be one of my most missed cards when the New Year Starts
There are quite a few cards that I am pretty sad about losing. That said there are also a bunch of cards I can't wait to see leave.
Anyway, here's the list:
BRM: I did't actually realize how unfond of this set I have grown, most of the cards in it I don't really like anymore. However, both Dark Iron Skulker and Gang Up are cards that will be missed dearly. Both of them didn't fit into the classic Rogue archetype and I certainly had a lot of fun fooling around with. Also Quick Shot, but just as a mainly Control Hunter player.
TGT: TGT in my opinion, has the most cards that don't ruin the game of an expansion (hence why most of them are not seen ever), but it has some cards that I do love. To start, Lock and Load was one of my favorite cards of the expansion. It created such an interesting deck that is actually one of my favorites and I will be sad to see it go. In the same boat, Powershot was a great tool for Hunters, and I put it in almost every deck. Moving away from Hunter, Eadric the Pure is a great card that I have loved since his release. A clever twist on nullifying your opponent's minions I thought was really cool and a great addition. Burgle was another great card from the TGT expansion that spawned the whole archetype of thievery Rogue (in my opinion, it should replace Conceal in the classic set).
LoE Lastly, the League of Explorers, another great expansion with a bunch of unique cards. Out of all of them, and this may sound weird, but I will definitely miss Naga Sea Witch. It is such a cool card, it's a shame it is never seen nowadays, enabling some extreme craziness to come out after it. It has also been great to see Mages get punished by Firelands Portal dropping this one.
I remember when Quick Shot was first used, it was such an OP card for aggro hunters back in the day, Powershot was also a great card that I wish was used more in midrange to control hunter. Lastly Naga Sea Witch is definitely an awesome card, although it saw little play, it was definitely a card that could be used for some cool combos. Thanks for sharing!

Emperor Thaurissan is another card I have mixed feeling about seeing leave standard. And lets not forget TGT either, because of Raza the Chained we finally see decks like Krip's OTK Chaney Priest which wouldn't be possible without Spawn of Shadows or Garrison Commander

Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer
I will miss no cards, because there is a format called wild which will be even better when the next expansion hits.

Tomb Pillager, gonna REALLY miss this guy.
Valar Morghulis
I'm really going to miss reno and justicar. Thaurissan for the fun combos
Definitely reno, I have a very small amount of foolish hope he'll be moved to standard or basically reprinted under another name next adventure.
I will miss Beneath the Grounds because it was a great tech against those Reno decks.

every card from LoE
You only need a handfull of cards.
Grim Patron, made one of the most skillful decks in the game.
Elemental Destruction, Ancestral Knowledge and Healing Wave
I mained shaman and I'm going to miss those cards even they're rarely used nowadays, I really felt those cards are what shaman needed since he has lack of class drawing card, combo with Hallazeal the Ascended and great healing card (Waterspeaker isn't going to be enough), They are old right but still damn good. I like elementals and totems.

Rastakhan's Rumble has some good art, lemme tell you... Also I'm a Class Design Finalist! Check out the Monk here!
