First time legend on EU with midrange shaman, I went a respectable 34-10 from 5 & 2 stars to legend :)
The meta was quite diverse, the most played deck being CW (8 games) followed by maly druid & mid-shaman (6 of each). I met only one rogue (burglar), one zoo, and 0 priest...

Time for the legend grind
Good job Johnny, are you winning against shamans?
yes I got matched up with 2 shamans and beat both of them. Cloaked Huntress + tons of secrets messes up their start. The only really difficult match up I recognized was Tempo Mage.
I hit legend earlier in the week, using midrange shaman with Harrison Jones and Bloodlust for the final push to legend. Actually, made a couple friends of control warriors after some epic matches.
Second to last game before legend was a match where I harrisoned a doom hammer off an aggro shaman. Another big fist pump moment was flamewreath played on turn 4 with a hex in my hand. The clinching game was a tough nail biter with a tempo mage. I was around 12ish health for 3 turns, before finally getting a concession from the mage.
im stuck at rank 7 for a week now,i tried midrange shaman/hunter, tempo mage,CW,resurrect priest and token druid
cant seem to win more than 2 games in a row, any tips all of my decks are netdecked with no changes
Pick the deck, you are most comfortable playing, and try to stick with it. If you are facing many weapon users, consider weapon tech. If board centered decks are an issue, consider board clears. Maybe your deck needs just a bit more value or burst. These minor changes can add an important element of surprise. In my case I surprised quite a few warriors, rogues, and druids that did not clear my totems with bloodlust. Something to consider.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to believe in yourself and the deck you are playing. Equally important is the acceptance that luck swings both ways and to not let bad rolls or draws take you off your game. Stay focused on not shooting yourself in the foot.
Yes finally made it!! After playing for roughly 9 months, I made Legend today, feelsReallyGoodMan :)
Climbed from 15 to 5 with mainly a N'Zoth Murloc Paladin, which I knew was not the most competitive but it's a really fun deck. After reaching rank 5, I was stuck between 6 & 4, kept going back and forth. At which point I switched to Claw Shaman, deck that I build based on the many recent encounters during my whole climb, and tech'd a few cards. The hardest grind was from rank 5 to 3ish, and in one day (today) went from 3 to 1 then to Legend :).
A few stats: In my last 25 games, I lost only 3 games (88% WR). I reached Legend after a 7 game win-streak, I guess that helped a bit :P This season I'm at 59.3% WR with my Murloc Paly, out of 140 games. And 66.2% WR with my Shaman, out of 74 games.
If I'm running into strictly warriors and priests, I personally like midrange hunter. I don't know enough about the new secret variant.
Of course I prefer midrange shaman because it is so versatile. The only deck I was ever truly afraid of facing is worgen otk and those are far and few in between. I don't experience the same problems expressed here with tempo mage. That seems like a pretty even matchup. In fact, that is the appeal of mid-range shaman It's not countered by anything. It doesn't have any heavily favored matchups but can tilt it's matchups more in your favor with small tech changes. I believe with competent and consistent play, this is the best all-round deck for ladder, no matter what the meta is doing. You might have to tech, which I did, but I don't think there was really a matchup where I felt the odds were truly against me.
Secret Hunter is erally crazy. This morning I played a few games and got to rank 4 from 5 no stars. Getting really close to my golden hunter! about 40 more games to go. Think I will use this deck for next season too. Does pretty well *knock on wood*
Played alot today, went from rank 4 back to rank 5 and then up to rank 3 :) Secret Hunter probably somewhere around 15-5. So close to Golden hunter now I can feel it :P

If hitting legend wasn't enough to celebrate, my son was born a couple days later. So I doubt I'll be forgetting this week.

What would you choose between midrange/secret hunter and midrange shaman to get to legend from around rank 7? And why?
Conceding since July 2014.

Hit legend pretty easily with midrange shaman running sea giants to rank 1 3 stars and finished it off with maly druid.
Proof.
