I played for a year before I finally hit legend. It is a time sink, and you need to have patience from rank 5 - legend. Overall I think it took me about 28 hours of ranked play with zoolock. (post WoTOG)
Have played ranked about a year. Played 32 hours and 254 games this month, peaked at rank 4 so far, which is my personal best. Will have to start winning a lot more of my games to make it to legend in 10 days.

They call it "Grind to Legend" for a reason. It isn't a factor of time in the sense of "how long have you been playing" so much as "how long in a session do you play?" I'm a casual player that has been playing for over a year and I have never hit legend. I haven't because I haven't put in the effort required to grind my way through the ladder. IF you really want legend, you will need to set aside several hours over a few days to grind it out.

i play for 1.5 years and still no legend my best is rank 2
are you my twin? :) ... I have the same story... my major excuse is that I am not willing to invest the time to legend grind... I prefer to waste my time with arenas.
I'm in more or less the same boat. Maybe a little longer playing, but the same story. It seems like it just takes too much time with too little reward for getting legend to really be worth it.

It took me three months to get legend as f2p. I won't ever try to get it again; the cardback was enough for me.
