So I just got arthas this morning and started thinking if there would be a way to do it as a free to play. I'm sure over time there might be some new cards to help but as it sits right now I don't see how it could be done without a decent collection. Anyone have any thoughts? Anyone tried as a f2p and gave up?
From someone who has done it this morning and with quite a lot of wild cards, I don't think it'll be easy, but there will be some sort of highroll people can get.
Depends how long they've been playing, most old adventures could easily have been bought with gold if they were playing at the time and have some pretty solid ways to bring him down.
A fresh f2p player would probably have little to no chance of unlocking the hero portrait unless they got some godlike rng. Commonly used cards can provide a lot of opportunity, they just won't be as consistent as a wallet deck against the lich kings cheating.
It's fine though really, they made it effectively challenging for even dedicated players. It's a nice trophy to have and I hope this trend continues.
I'm completely f2p and i have 90% of the collection - so i can assure you this is absolutely possible. I've won today with shaman and paladin having not that many kft cards tbh. If i'll craft dr.8 and some epics - i'm pretty sure i'll be able to clear it with other classes.
Well is interesting but not that difficult cause you not need to craft all the deck for win with warrior or mage for example, just half or less and hard mulligan for perfect hand. If they have C thun they cand win with rogue. Priest is easy. The only really heavy dusk ones are Hunter and Paladin cause hunter needs a lot of spells and Barnes type deck (for easy win) and Paladin need murlocs all the murlocs and a little of luck for good hand.
But personally i will not recommend no one go for Arthas at F2P cause still half of the decks means amont 5000-6000 Dusk. The 3 packs and the free legendary DK are worthy enough.
For f2p it is possible. For those that mill every card that's not in standard i think it is not. And that's a good thing, because since the beginning the hardest rewards of adventures have been for those with wild cards, adventures is where wild cards are supposed to be played for those who keep them.
I'm f2p and have almost nothing in collection (I have to play aggro druid [which I hate, I hate aggro decks] because I don't have cards for any other deck) and I don't suppose I'll ever get Arthas (who I'd love to play!). Just FeelsBadMan
But it's really great to finally have a challenge not everyone can overcome. We get daily 'Quests' where everyone has the cards, the mind and the skill set to complete them. Now we're finally having a rough challenge where you need to be better than average to win.
F2P has a very wide range of players, I would ask if new players can have a shot, and I believe they do if they craft smart, most encounters are beatable without a huge collection once you understand the mechanic of the fights.
Palladin, rogue, shaman and even mage can be e done by murlocs. You do need the megasaur, tidecallers and warleaders. You just do need to kill the lich king before turn 7. Can be easely done. Properly the most cheap way in my opinion.

I only have standard cards and I managed just fine :)
Technically I'm f2p and I managed to get Arthas, but I have a pretty extensive collection having played for a long time. I feel it's important to point out that being impossible to beat on a limited collection shouldn't translate as hostile towards f2p players though. They might not clear it on day one, but it gives them a goal to progress towards.
Murlocs literally can win every game except druid, including mage and warrior. Druid can be beat with a basic jade list. The only thing that is necessary is 4 epics. Two warleaders and two megasaurs.
Turn 1 play tidecaller, turn 2 rockpool. Trade efficiently, keeping LK's board clean while establishing murlocs and kill him before turn 7 with ease. Taking damage doesn't matter since his minions will never hit you and frostmourne will never see play. The only difficult one is probably warrior because he will likely get a frostmourne up. Just keep the board as well as you can, hit battle rages to refill your hand. Once you clear the board, reestablish your murlocs. Pray for no blizzard.
It takes lots of restarts but it is doable. Once you get the strategy down for one class, it is the same for all of them.
For druid, include all your ramp and jade cards. Aya is not needed. Run cheap spells like moonfire for auctioneer fuel. Then fill the rest of your deck with trash 1 drops. LK will destroy all the trash, then you just ramp quickly, and get jades going. You should have deck full of idols and auctioneer should be going crazy by turn 7. If you have a reasonable life total, LK will trade into jades, nourish for more jades. EZ

I used a murloc deck for 6 of the classes. I think most f2p players can afford a murloc deck.
"Rogues do it from behind...sapped girls can't say no"

My arena stats!

its possible, though it will take a lot of work. i have a friend who used murlocs to kill him on 5 classes so far.

Can someone post decklists of these murloc decks?
Just for record, warrior cost me a lot cause i have 0 warrior cards BUT i manages to mill the lich king and copy oracle by infinite.
I'm a F2P and I was able to do it though I've been playing since Blackrock so I have a pretty sizable collection I doubt new players could though
