I just tried it out, played 9 games, won 6 of them.
Lost two against priests, couldn't get the damage through. One of them was at 2hp and top decked death wing. I had a sap still, not ideal against death wing though but it was all i could do to prevent that damage. He was able to keep up heals and kept top decking better. Got unlucky I believe, didn't draw my last eviscerate or leeroy or argent.
The other priest outlasted me as well, he kept throwing out high hp minions like gurubashi, lightspawn, lightwell, and high priority targets like northshire. I probably should have ignored his minions more and went for the face but I was afraid of the divine + inner nonsense.
Third loss was against a shaman. His earth elemental ruined my day, didn't have a windrunner or sap to deal with it. Couldn't get enough damage through before and he stomped me.
But I hit rank 13 from rank 15 in those 9 games. Maybe from 16, don't remember exactly.
Generally, should I be going for the face more often and forcing them to trade? Usually I rely on my weapon and combos like SI or Blade Flurry + Deadly Poison to remove threats, but sometimes I'll just trade if my minion will survive the trade.
I'll record some games of this deck when I get back home from my holiday vacation, would be interested in any insight on gameplay decisions.
Overall it was pretty damn good, only losing by very close matches where I just couldn't get that last bit of damage out. I should probably save the eviscerates for direct damage and ignore their minions more often.
This deck seems really weak against current meta, cannot win against druid and too slow against warlocks. Did you actually get to legend with this deck? And I'm already using thalnos and tinker.
It's a midrange deck, you play aggro against control and control against aggro.
Best advice in this thread. I feel much more sure of my actions following this general guide.
I'll definitely use my hero ability to clear 1hp minions though, even against control decks. Save my evis strictly for damage now against control decks. Just won 3 games in a row keeping this in my head and I felt like I won more assuredly. Beat a control priest, aggro warlock, and control paladin. Huge part to defeating the warlock was keeping a blade flurry in my opener. Of course he turn one blood imps, so I turn 1 coin, so I can clear blood imp next turn.
Later he played another blood imp after he played a dread infernal and nearly cleared my board. I sapped it, probably my best top deck ever haha, he never played it again for want of saving his blood imp.
These 3 games got me from rank 14 to 12 somehow, I was only 1 star away from 13.
The priest was a quick one, won on turn 8 I believe. Just kept ignoring his minions and hitting his face. On turn 4 though I got lucky, if he had a holy nova I would have been in a horrible position. Luckily he played a loot hoarder.
Third game was a paladin, he was very control style with truesilver, wrath, consecration, etc… he even had guardian of kings, but by then he was really concerned about his hp so he ended up using it to attack my minions. I just ignored it and it worked like a charm. Kept using my hero ability to drop his 1/1s.
I'm having a lot of fun with this deck now, it is pretty versatile.
So you just go on the enemy hero? dont make board control, and let em trade your minions?
It's a midrange deck, you play aggro against control and control against aggro.
Pretty much this. Don't play full control against Warlocks though. If you don't pressure their life total, they have inevitability with their hero power. Kill the minions you can but also know when you have to just disregard their board and race them to 0.
This deck seems really weak against current meta, cannot win against druid and too slow against warlocks. Did you actually get to legend with this deck? And I'm already using thalnos and tinker.
Not only to legend but i'm sitting at 14 right now, same list. I beat druid half the time and non-murloc Warlocks even more. Shaman and Murlocs are pretty much the only matches I don't win almost ever.
Just wanted to throw my .02 cents in. Been playing this deck for a few hours now, at first it was pretty tough since I mainly play Druid and the play style is quite different. It's sometimes hard to remember to keep the pressure on and attack the hero's life as opposed to keeping the board clear. I've won 11 out of 15 games with this deck (so about a 73% win rate). Two of my losses were mages, one was a priest and the last was a druid. One mage loss was my initial playing and not pressuring enough, the second mage loss was to some crazy a$$ lucky 19 damage turn 7 stuff that went on. (This was also an ice block secret mage). The priest kept healing himself, for 18 HP before I finally fell. He thoughtstole a shadowstep from me (how lucky) and shadowstepped his Guardian of Kings(The one that heals for 6 hp?) back into his hand and played it twice. The druid just kept throwing out big taunts that I eventually couldn't deal with ~6hp or so left.
All in all Rogue used to be my least favorite class, enjoying it quite a bit at the moment. Thanks for the deck list! Only thing I'm missing is a Sylvannas... I just threw in a Ysera cause f it.. would probably be better with a reckless rocketeer or something though, lol.
I know you weren't addressing me directly, but I've been playing with the deck a bit and feel I can chime in to answer your questions. Assassinate is an amazing card but also costs 5 mana. I've found that utilizing sap properly will win you the game. I just had a game where the opponent threw down an abomination with 7 hp left and I had an SI7 on the board. I sapped his Abomination, attacked with the SI:7, threw down another SI:7 (2 damage combo), shadowstepped him back, and threw him down again for the win, so it's not always necessary to save sap for Leeroy, although it's amazing when you're finally able to pull off the combo.. :). Argent Squire is a pain to remove with the divine shield since it takes two hits to kill, so a lot of times your opponent will waste a spell skill or 2 mana to attack to get rid of the divine shield to get rid of it. I'm not claiming to be great at hearthstone and I'm only @ rank 14 atm but having good success and great fun with the deck.
It really forces you to think outside of the box and decide which way you should approach an opponent. I find myself rarely using an Argus or Cleric tbh.. only in times of desperation or if I need to buff.
Your deck is kind of weak with lots of pointless card decisions. I have no idea how you managed to get to Legend with it, but I wouldn't expect it to last long in Legend, either. Earthen Ring Farseer, Loot Hoarder, Sun Cleric, Sap and Shadowstep are pointless cards that will set you back further.

Considering that last night I saw him at rank 9 in legend, I think he knows what he is doing. It may not be the deck for you, but clearly it is working for him
I play a rather similar deck (rank 6 as of now) and I generally only lose to murloc-warlocks, and the very rarely encountered shaman, especially with a turn 5 earth elemental. I do play a single assassinate in there though, and it has saved my ass quite a few times. But sap is an interesting alternative.
Let me first say thanks for sharing, I really enjoy rogue but after hitting rank 10 I have been struggling. I really think it is because I am not sure when to go for face, and when to board clear. I am getting better at it thought.
My deck I use is similar to yours, but I really would like to try yours on the ladder but I don't have Silvanas or Leroy, but the rest is good to go.
What could I sub for those 2 cards? I know you said Leroy is irreplaceable but what about 5/2 charge card for 6 mana? I know its 2 more mana, but it allows for some aggressive finishers and can help close out some control decks I think. But what about silvanas? I was thinking of throwing in a Frostwolf warlord for a nice mid-game card, what do you think? I would love to hear your opinion.
Also what do you primarily use shadow step on? I have used it few time on defender of argus and si:7 once time and farseer to heal my card that allowed me to trade card for free. Is that how you use it in general to just fit the situation or do you have a shadow step combo in mind when you start a game vs certain classes?

I have been playing Exlusivly ROgue for months I have a 95%+ W/L with my deck it works well always in any meta
Cool story? Do people actually believe atrocities like this lol
Meant to ask, what do you do if you get leeroy early? throw him out or hold for kill?
edit: and how often do you clear minions with vicky (eviscerate)?
double edit: any why not cold blood instead of shadowstep? shadowstep is more or less my favorite card, but cold blood seems more useful here .
It's a midrange deck, you play aggro against control and control against aggro.

I had cold blood for a while, but found it too narrow, while strong in some situations.

Keep removal in starting hand, don't swing with dagger too much, pray for Defender of Argus
Simple you wait for their key cards...Which are the war leader
It's the hardest matchup i've ever encountered. Not really very beatable.
With the right draw, rogues stand a high chance against murlocks
Yes even with out it the rogue I made has a 7-0 W/L on Warlocks
Let me first say thanks for sharing, I really enjoy rogue but after hitting rank 10 I have been struggling. I really think it is because I am not sure when to go for face, and when to board clear. I am getting better at it thought.

There is no replacement for Sylvanas, you should play a variation with no legendaries.
