In my pass game I got a violet teacher from a unstable portal and the synergy from my cheap spells and from flame waker was amazing and also got me thinking a little bit in having her in my deck
I think the question is: what would you take out to fit Violet Teacher? It's not that it's a bad card for the deck so much as Mages have no synergy with tokens and they make the deck more vulnerable to board clears (which currently it fields only a few at a time). But that's just my general impression.
I tried this some time ago, swaped out the shredders for the violet teachers and more put in more cheap spells than useual. When it works its realy awesome. But most of the time i was forced to just play her on turn 4 for the tempo and then the shredder is just better. So i feel if you want to make this work you need to change the deck more than i did, maybe leave the shredders and swap something else out. I really like the idea though, please share a deck if you make it work :)
Its only amazing when you are able to get it out via unstable portal because it allows you to keep up the pressure and cast several spells the same turn you cast it. If its like turn 8 and you cast this and maybe 2-3 cheap spells, its really underwhelming.
I think part of the reason why you found Violet Teacher so good in that particular situation was because of the reduced cost from the portal, meaning you had spare mana to play complimenting spells. Not saying she is a bad card by any means for Tempo Mage, but just might not be as good as you initially thought.

Very true..I been playing her for a couple of games;I replaced my piloted shredders for her.now it's she's very good against some aggressive deck (cancer hunter, face shaman, and zoo)
I've tried this for a bit and I actually really like it in the current meta. The 1/1 spam is actually quite helpful in most setups (not so much against Patron warrior).
If you like Violet teacher in mage try this deck. It goes full token with Knife Jugglers, Echo of Medivh, and even Polyboar to turn students into Huffer :).
It's fun to play, just super swingy. Once you get a full board and manage to pull off an Echo, you are almost unstoppable, but if the opponent aggressively kills all your early minions and leaves you top-decking, there is no way to come back (except a clutch Antonidas play).
It's something I've been thinking about. I think with standard incoming it might be something you can fit in, but then again we don't know what new cards are all in WoToG. Could be some cards with even better synergy.
Unfortunately you won't have Echo of Medivh in standard, to get a hand full of 0 mana 1/1s from the teacher. On top of that, Knife Juggler might be nerfed.
If anything, Violet Teacher Mage will be worse in standard :(
Violet teacher isn't a bad card for mage, because of all the spells, however in tempo mage it probably isn't the right fit. Violet mage can get you value out of your cards, but in tempo mage it is usually to slow and so it would be better to run a standalone four drop. Plus mages don't really have token synergy like druid does with savage roar/power of the wild.

Hearthstone...I play that.
Music...I make that.

Imo, Violet Teacher is barely worth running in Oil Rogue and Token Druid.
She has no place whatsoever in Tempo Mage. Your 4 drops in that deck should be Piloted Shredders and/or Water Elementals.

Maybe she's going to see play in Standard Tempo Mage... Only time will tell.
