mainly because people are used to playing against rank 15 face hunters, which are usually people who play the deck because they can't play anything else and because said people are also rank 15 themselves,so they have no idea how to counter the deck.
face hunter is a pretty mediocre deck right now,if you're still losing to it you should go back to the drawing board and try to improve your deck or you're just not playing properly.that is unless you're playing a deck which is naturally bad against it,such as oil rogue in which case you also shouldn't be complaining, because every deck in the game has its good and bad matchups(just ask any of the paladins you faced with your rogue how well they do against you,or any of the face hunters how they do against the patron warrior you just owned).
I find it amusing when ppl play these decks and think they have skill or just start taunting u, because they have bord this game needs creativity not net-decking
Notes: Please keep your comments clean of flaming references.
As long as your deck has a few taunts then you should be ok with face hunter. But it takes no skill and the bming of some of the players piss people off.
Basically people hate it for 2 reason, A) because it's obscenely easy and B) because you don't get to use any of your fun/interesting strategies against it because you'll be dead before you get to actually do anything cool.
People have a right to be upset with it, but since Blizzard made this "free"2play game extremely difficult without actually paying, those players equally have a right to just play face hunter. If you're a new player without a fat wallet, what else are you gonna do? Come onto the ladder and show the world the power of your control deck with Boulderfist Ogres and Bootybay Bodyguards?
I was free to play for quite some time, yet I never played hunter. It's not like there aren't any other options for new players. Maybe they should focus on learning the game, even if their decks aren't capable of reaching high ranks. If you play face hunter, you may be capable of reaching legend but you will still be a scrub who doesn't know anything about the game.
>>even if their decks aren't capable of reaching high ranks.
Well that's kinda my point though. I think a lot of people don't have money but would also like to win games and climb the ladder like anyone else. I believe most of us are here to ultimately attain high ranks, and to be honest there aren't that many competitive low cost options aside from aggro hunter. Even zoo decks have become fairly expensive.
I think there is a reason that a lot of people overlook in regards to why they hate face hunter. Sure, the deck takes very little skill to play, and it is uninteractive, but there is another reason. What I hate most about the hunter matchup is that all of your skill and experience in that matchup is useless. The reason why I play a skillful deck is so that I can use that skill and make those hard decisions. When you play against hunter you don't really get the chance to do that, there are no hard decisions for you either. Your deck becomes just as auto pilot to play against them, and then it is just a game of deck vs. deck and luck vs. luck, skill doesn't enter the equation.
I find Hearthstone to be challenging, and I play it because I enjoy the challenge. Playing against facehunter there is no challenge, it literally takes away the element of the game that I find enjoyable. If 1/10 players were playing it then that would likely be ok (in fact, the game would be bad if every deck was greedy control as well, there needs to be a balance), but when half the people out there are running a deck that is just as mindless to play against as it is to play then the game starts to feel boring.

Don't know about you but for me it's not half people. But keep in mind I play rank 5-4 atm and on NA. It's like 2 facehunters per 10 games there and I have around 35-40% winrate against facehunters. Now I wouldn't say it's mindless to play against them. I play midrange/tempoish death-hunter and it takes a lot skill to fight against them. Sure sometimes you have terrible RNG and your opponent has good one.. like getting 2X huffer from Animal Companion. But it does take skill, more skill than against other decks, in example you can race with facehunter to face and play aggro yourself and eventually heal up(if your deck has heals) or you can play control, running Kezan Mystic and stealing hunters Explosive trap which would take away Eaglehorn Bows value while also slowing down the hunter. Sometimes you need to consider if you should attack face when your opponent has 3/1 eaglehorn bow + explosive trap, maybe you should not attack your opponent and instead overwhelm your board with minions with 3+ health and eventually kill the hunter in one turn. Or simply overwhelm the board without attacking and waiting til you draw Kezan Mystic, stealing the secret and again killing the hunter in 1 turn. There are many tactics against facehunters!
Long story short, it takes a lot of skill to beat facehunter and a little to play it which frustrates people a lot.

I rarely play against hunter except at the start of the season (from my notes I've played 2 out of the last 30ish games, but at the start of the season it is about 50%). For me it takes absolutely no skill to play against because I play a control deck and you only have maybe 2 different plays you can make each turn, and one is usually bad against face hunter, so your decision is already made for you. I've played every type of deck that this game has to offer, and I don't think I've ever had a turn longer than about 5 seconds against facehunter because there is typically only one "right" play, no matter what deck you are playing.
It is simple: Face Hunter requires 0 tactic and it still works. While in other decks you need to count, trade and think when it is better to attack face or trade, a face Hunter only attack the face.
Also because Kill Command is too strong. And since BRM Face-Hunter has more direct damage than ever. All in all many Hunter-cards are too strong and Face Hunter combines this strength to kill the enemy as fast as possible.
I've been seeing a lot of people saying Face Hunter takes little to no skill.
I don't know about you, but my winrate is significantly higher with my Quartermaster Paladin deck, or my Dragon Priest deck than it is with Face Hunter. I've tried, but it seems everyone these days are quite ready to deal with SMOrc.
Now that I've played some matches I can say it requires some very basic math skills, but that's about it.
this isn't exactly true.sometimes you have to make some weird decisions with the deck.i haven't played the deck much lately, but i had this game against zoo where i was about to die but managed to win by sacrificing my scientist and using KC on his doomguard, making an entire board of 5 creatures have 2 or less health(the dude had 15 hp and i was at 7 or so).next turn he just procs my explosive trap and i pulled a comeback with my charge minions and quick shot.you need to factor in things like what sort of removal your opponent might have, healing, what damage you can realistically pull off in the next turn or two and many other things to play the deck efficiently(which is the main difference between good aggro players and people who just copy paste the deck and get stuck around rank 12).
i'm not saying that FH is the hardest deck to play in the game, but there are many decks that give you the illusion of being harder because they are not aggressive *cough* druid *cough* and in reality they are even easier.sure, any non complete retard could get rank 10 with face hunter(hey, myself and many others could probably do that with face priest too),but to say anyone can just pick it up and get to legend is just dumb and unfounded.sure the deck can be annoying to play against, well guess what?just get better and learn to play against it.
People don't like aggro because aggro limits the types of decks they can play and demands reactive cards to deal with it's early threats which dilutes the way they can play.
Another problem is the way ladder is structured. Lets say two decks have 60% winrate from rank 5 to legend: Face hunter and freeze mage. Your first impression is that either deck is equally good for climbing ladder, and per game they are equal. Let's say the average face hunter game takes 5 minutes while the average freeze mage game takes 10 minutes. If you begin at rank 5 with 1 star you will need to gain 25 stars to reach legend. At 60 percent winrate you gain about 2 stars per ten games. You would need to play ~125 games to get to legend in that scenario. So even though face hunter and freeze mage had the same winrate (in this hypothetical example) face hunter would take 10 hours and 25 minutes of play while freeze mage would take 20 hours and 50 minutes of play to accomplish exactly the same thing.
So when phrased this way, if you value your time and want to try to climb legend face hunter (assuming it has a respectable winrate) is going to beat out slower decks. Hell, if those time ratios were real the mage deck would need a 70% winrate to be equal in terms of time investment to a 60% winrate hunter. Coupled with how cheap aggro decks are you end up with a LOT of aggro on ladder so people get sick of it.
Because it's easier to blame your opponent than to admit your deck is either to slow, greedy or that their skill just isn't good enough.
So I hate face hunter because it is easier to blame them for me having a 70% winrate against them? You can hate a deck even if you have a good matchup against them. I play this game for fun, not just to win. If I played hunter every single match I would end up at #1 legend, but that doesn't mean I would want to play against them every single match.

Haha no you wouldn't, there is a difference in skill even between face hunter players especially if you are playing a rank 5 or higher.
There is a skill cap for any deck. I've beat hunters as high as top 10 legend and I'm pretty sure their skill is about as high as you are going to get. It's all about good/bad matchups and how good the deck and player combination can possibly be. I have a good matchup against them, and even the best player in the world is going to struggle to beat me with facehunter, that's the way matchups work. Some decks are just weak against other decks.
People hate it because it dominates any other deck or class currently. There is no counter to face hunter that stands a chance against any other class or build. The only possible way to beat face hunter is to get lucky on your card draw. I challenge anyone to prove otherwise. Post video evidence to prove me wrong. People talk a good game on the forums but don't post proof.

Here's the point. Any deck that is dominating the meta is the most hated deck. Right now is Patron and Face
You can easily beat a face hunter if you can shut down the aggression within the first 2-3 turns. Mages and warlocks are great for countering FH.
As long as your deck has a few taunts then you should be ok with face hunter. But it takes no skill and the bming of some of the players piss people off.

Face-hunter's decks are cheap as f#ck, simple to play it, and effective most of the times.

I didn't have a signature so Flux added one for me.

Hey, how's it going?
What's poppin,' player?
Am I the only one that gets a temporary moment of immense satisfaction after beating a face hunter?

Setting up explosive trap and preventing lethal isn't exactly rocket science
Shaku, the Collector gave me the Plague
Nope, it always feels good, because I never feel truly confident queuing in against Hunter (unless I'm specifically playing an overly defensive deck).
