So I was bored and I thought I'd spend a little just to find a way to build a cheap token deck. I came up with this and I personally think it's solid as for Druid some of the epics (Ancient of Lore) are too essential to the deck styles and for token Druid which is this deck, you could potentially do it without Ancient of Lore.
In this deck there is lots of small sticky minions like Harvest Golem, Haunted Creeper and Piloted Shredder which are great minions not only are they sticky but they are common cards too.
If you really need some help you can just add my btag "Teek#1928" I'm not really doing anything currently and can help.
As people stated in previous posts don't try and craft too many commons or rares as they could pop up in packs you never know.
For future purposes if you do so have the dust, these are superior choices for the cards I listed.
I should have a bit of time later today (when the baby will sleep) to try it out! I might get into Arena too, so I can get a few packs and chance to get more card for my deck.
By the way, I had a free pack today (Daily Quest), and had a Silvermoon Guardian in it. It's a 4-drop and I think it's a sticky card... would it fit in?
EDIT: Just saw you guys updated your posts. I'll have a look at it ;-) Thanks, you are awesome!
It's hard to understand what to keep and what to cut in your deck, we don't know how do you feel about your drawing power when you play the deck (since you don't have Ancient of Lore, Wrath or Azure Drake). Is it that enough?: then you're fine as is. Not enough?: then you have to add more draw cards. Gratuitous (I doubt that) ?: cut some draw cards for other ones that have better stats and are more efficient. It's up to you to evaluate and make the call for that.
For instance I advised you to cut the Anodized Robo Cub. Is it because it's bad? Damn, no, it's a pretty good card and it's quite flexible. For sure it has better stats than Loot Hoarder. The point is: by cutting both the Hoarders, is the card draw generated by the Starfires enough for you or you find yourself running out of steam and options quite often in your matches? Also, are you okey with your drawing power being tied to a card that is only playable at or after turn 6 (which means your drawing power isn't accessible earlygame)? If the drawing power is more than enough, cut the Hoarders, otherwise keep them.
Wow! I totally understand what you are saying. I like these kind of post that push me to think a bit further about the game.
Let me play a few games with my deck. I'll post updates later so I can understand what are the needs for it. I should hit the arena soon so I may get other cards, and hell, even an Epic one!
Thanks for all your inputs, it's greatly appreciated!
Yeah I was just suggesting a token style druid as I think it's the cheapest and most likely the most effective deck for its cost. Most of the token cards are pretty cheap too and he can use maybe a few of the basic ones but the biggest issue is running out of steam like you said and I am not sure if loot hoarder will cut it without drakes and even Ancient of Lore.
Token style Druid (even Egg token) would surely be very cheap to craft and very effective, but that would require him/her committing to craft commons and rares (which is not a great dust investment). I think he's should try to make it with the cards he got and save dust for the much needed legendary and epic cards he's gonna need in the future.
Yes. I will stick with "ramp" Druid to get a better feel of the game, the deck and other mechanics. Then, I may try something else! I'll keep you guys updated with this deck for sure!
So... I've played about 10 games so far with the deck. Went 5-5 and I just hit Rank 19.
I think it's a good deck so far. I've been rekt by some Paladins/Mages with bunch of legendaries and murlocs. Other than that, it went pretty well. I had solid openers (in my opinion, correct me if I am wrong) like Coin+Mana Growth T1, Aspirant on T2... Those kind of things where I could get a Boulderfist Ogre on T4. I really felt what "ramp" meant in those 10 games!
I am always wondering if I *have* to play my Darnassus Aspirant as soon as I can. The deathrattle is confusing me as to know if it's good to play it quickly or not.
Other aspect of the game I am not comfortable with is the mulligan at the beginning. I almost always keep my Wild Growth/Innervate, and almost any cards under 4-drop. I mulligan Loot Hoarders too, since I guess I don't need the "draw" right away.
I decided, for fun, to put $20 in that game to get a few pack of cards... I got a few Druid cards:
2x Wrath, 2x Keeper of the Grove (disenchanted the extra one, had 3 in total), 2x Druid of the Claw (disenchanted the extra one, had 3 in total), also got 1x Nourish
Got 3 Legendaries: Nat Pagle, Tinkmaster Overspark and Mylagos
And finally, a golden Thoughtsteal.
I think I may disenchant some legendaries so I could get the Epic Druid card (Ancient of...) and my deck will be a bit more solid!
EDIT: Just uploaded my latest changes, which are:
- 2x Shattered Sun, -Savage Roar, -Power of the Wild, -Loot Hoarder
+ 2x Wrath, +Keeper of the Grove, +Druid of the Claw, +Nourish
Since it is economical to get fast and exchange 100 gold to 1 dollar so I recommend pick up Original pack first moreover, except Adventures deck is strong with other packs
Played a few more games with the deck! Man, the feeling is great. It has changed a lot! I got my arse kicked a few times though 'cause some people were using mech decks, and had plenty of good legendaries. But anyway, I think I did well and I might go up in Ranks the more I play with it. I am also playing a few arenas on the side when I have the gold for it.
One advice for DE'ing I have made good experience with : Unless you like the bling and actually aim for getting many goldens, just DE every golden you don't have a use for at the moment or the very near future and get yourself a good epic or legendary instead. The chance to get it as a non-golden before you actually want to use it is often high enough that you will have it anyway by the time you come around to using the card; I'm nearing a full collection except for a few legendaries and some epics, and so far I DE'ed every single golden except for a single brawl and I have no regrets. Even if you end up recrafting a card much later on, you don't actually lose any dust and in the meantime had something actually usable. Dusting non-goldens however is a losing game, so avoid that.
It's important to remember to have fun now instead of always holding back because it will "pay off someday". Though it's also important to not to DE all cards just because you're not using them now. In my experience, being very conservative with DE'ing non-goldens and very liberal with DE'ing goldens is a very practical middle ground.
To the deck: When I was in your situation, I had a lot of success with Venture Co. Mercenary in Ramp because he trades good and even if he gets killed fast, you don't suffer from the negative effect. But that was back when BGH(Big Game Hunter) was less common, so I'm not sure about it now. Though he still is good to make your Ironbarks more sticky since a 5 drop dying to cheap removal isn't as terrible as an 8-drop dying to cheap removal. In general, what Exacerberus says is very sane, so I don't want to interfere too much.
Your deck looks a lot better now than it was before, you've received a lot of good advice! The card draw is pretty situational (Nourish, Wrath, Starfire), but if you dont find yourself needing more cards in the mid/late game, you don't need to add any more. Otherwise, maybe adding a Loot Hoarder back in would be good.
If you ever decide to spend some money, follow everyone's advice and get Naxxramas first, its filled with competitive cards. The first wing of Blackrock Mountain might interest you as well since it has some great cards you could use, in your Druid deck and in future decks.
As for the topic of crafting commons, Exacerberus is right in that it is very inefficient to craft commons, since A) you'll probably get them from packs eventually and B) the return on dusting them is a 1:8 ratio, as opposed to a legendary which dusts at a 1:4 ratio. Therefore in theory, you get the best "bang for your buck" when you craft higher rarity cards.
That being said, I think that crafting some commons early in your hearthstone career is not a bad idea. Since you're a new player, its in your best interest to acquire classic packs whenever possible, since the classic set has the highest amount of playable cards. You might never open value cards like PIloted Shredder and Harvest Golem, since they are in the GVG card set, therefore crafting them is ok. Also, I think that crafting certain commons will help you win more now, perhaps increasing your enjoyment of the game at these early stages. I would try to advise you to not dust too many cards though, as they might have value later in your HS experience.
TLDR: Get Naxx. Its okay to craft commons if they're not in the Classic Set.
I never saw Nat Pagle and Tinkmaster Overspark in any deck so that's why I wanted to DE them so I could get those Ancient epic ones to improve my deck. I would also DE golden cards I have in normal card since, to be honest, I don't care about the shiny aspect of it.
My long terms goals would be to have a good Druid but I wish to have a good Warrior and Shaman deck too as they are my favorite classes.
It won't take you long to have a proper aggro Shaman deck, but for control Shaman a lot of epics are generally required. As for control Warrior, that's the most expensive deck in the game, that's why it's generally referred to as Wallet Warrior.
Oh... bummer for the Warrior! I'll just wait.
As for the Shaman, I'm happy to learn it won't take long... however, I just need to get a bit better in the Arena and it will help me! I'm averaging 2wins in 14 runs so... I need to be a bit better!
Also, with my new Druid deck, I might be able to make some moneyyy
After a few games today, I can't get past Rank 19!! lol
Everytime I have my 3 stars and try to hit 18, I get denied by a guy with bunch of Legendaries or hit his Reno stuff when he had 2 life points left.
BUT! I must say I love this deck. Thanks to everyone who contributed in this post... Now, I have 1665 dusts and I am wondering if I should craft the Ancients...

Anyways good luck!
Other "acceptable" adds that are okay (pretty much anything sticky):
Argent Squire
Razorfen Hunter
Scarlet Crusader
Gilblin Stalker
Imp Master
Jungle Panther

Latest update:
-Loot Hoarder, -Druid of the Saber
+Razorfen Hunter x2

No definitely not, it's pretty much a worse version of Scarlet Crusader. The 2 extra health for 1 extra mana just doesn't equate. Piloted Shredder, Chillwind Yeti, Keeper of the Grove, even Sen'jin Shieldmasta fits the 4 slot much better.

Such as Mechanic Mage or Charging Hunter
HAHA
$20 is no big deal for me. I work full time and I'm 31, so, I just wanted to have more cards so I could d/e and craft if needed :)

Bloodsail Corsair x2
Worgen Infiltrator
Dire Wolf Alpha
Ancient Watcher
Explosive Sheep
Master Swordsmith
Nat Pagle
Big Game Hunter
Demolisher x2
Questing Adventurer
Thrallmar Farseer
Tinkmaster Overspark
Ancient Mage
Dread Corsair x2
Cult Master
Spellbreaker x2
Silver Hand Knight
Spiteful Smith
Venture Co. Mercenary
Priestess of Elune
Windfury Harpy

As requested per Exacerberus, here is the "final" version of my deck, using it at the moment.
I just opened a pack with Living Roots and Savage Combatant in it... maybe it would fit in? I guess the Combatant won't but the roots?
Innervate are at the top.
