Hello there once again,
Update 19/9/2017: Removed the Consecration since we will see much less aggro druids right now (hopefully) and added one Stormwatcher for the sick effect of windfury to the Corpsetakers which gives a more aggro character to the deck. With the new nerfs and the downfall of murloc paladin, this deck might actually shine even more !
This time i've come up with a very interesting and fun to play deck.Let me introduce you Bolvar, Fireblood and his gang!
I haven't seen many divine shield paladins around, on legend ranks and i decided to give it a try and see how it goes. The results are very encouraging! It does pretty solid vs jade druids, the majority of the ladder at the moment, and has very good results versus pirate warriors and aggro/token druids. It is also extremely fun to play, especially if you manage to play Bolvar, Fireblood early and pimp him straight ahead. He is pretty much unstoppable if he's buffed many times and we can compare him in a way with Questing Adventurer. But obviously its not your only win condition! Building up your divine shield minions from early on can win you the majority of games without even drawing Bolvar, Fireblood. You also have strong midrange game with Sunkeeper Tarim, Bonemare and Tirion Fordring together with the 2 steeds.
So let me explain general mulligan and some general tips:
You always want to search for the early divine shield minions like Righteous Protector, Argent Squire and Wickerflame Burnbristle. If you combo these together with Rallying Blade, Light's Sorrow or Blood Knight on early turns, your opponent will have a really hard time dealing with the dangers. Vs aggro decks having a Corpsetaker exactly on turn 4 is a huge advantage. You can also re-divine your minions with Argent Protector which is also a really good card to combo with Bolvar, Fireblood.Steward of Darkshire can provide insane value to combo with the weapons, blood knight or Bolvar aswell. Also do not forget that it equips divine shield on the minions from noble sacrifice which is kinda good for buffing Bolvar, Fireblood or your weapon! You can use Hydrologist to bring your divine minions back to life or in your hand. If you play these cards wisely you can wreck your opponent pretty much on first 5-7 turns. If you however don't have such a good hand, that's no problem since you have other cards to build up your board and put pressure on your opponent till you win, which i mentioned above as the strong midrange game.
As for possible replacements,if you face a lot of taunt minions you could remove the Consecration for a The Black Knight or a second Spellbreaker,if you don't own or don't want to craft him.
It is a deck that you gotta try out for sure and you will not regret this as it is really enjoyable to play :)
I hope you guys have fun with the gameplay and cu soon !
Can i add Uther of the Ebon Blade and instead of what?
This deck is a lot of fun to play. I really feel like Padelos is trying to make the mechanic of these "lose DS and get buffs" mechanic work and he's going a great job at brewing it so far.
So I've been playing this deck for a little bit in the mid ranks and I'm 8-1 atm. The only major thing of note that i have, is i have yet to find a major use for the Stewards. I understand the concept, but under practice, and I've gotten to play at least one Steward a game, shes just not that effective. I feel like 1 could be dropped for a consecration for sure.
The Stormwatcher on the other hand is a HUGE addition. Having windfury on the Corpstakers and buffing them with BoK is super strong turn 4 and 5.
Without Lost in the Jungle or Stand Against Darkness I don't see the reason to use Steward of Darkshire. So I replaced her with Stonehill Defenders.
Was gonna say the same but the first comment I see is yours so.. Bravo sir
Moroes is also an interesting card to use with the Steward of Darkshire. More of a mid-range move but still pretty good.
There is no space for [card]Stonehill Defender[/card] in my opinion since its a kinda slow card and this deck has already strong midrange game. Also Steward of Darkshire gets enough value from hero power and noble sacrifice, which both will buff your weapon or Bolvar,or they will get buffed by the weapon ! It works pretty good even with Blood Knight. Who doesnt want at least an extra +3 +3 for him? As far as Moroes is concerned, well yea its not a bad idea but first its hard to find something to replace for him and secondly as you said, yea you need at least 4-5 mana crystals for the combo to start working under specific circumstances. But yea it might be helpful sometimes if it works.Feel free to try him out and see how it goes
bonemare is cheap... tirion is must have in every palla deck (autoinclude)
I reckon you'll be fine swapping lights sorrow for a truesilver champion, or another 4drop
wickerflame is just a generic anti aggro 3 drop, swap him for stonehill or tar creeper
Tirion is the BEST classic legendary, craft him straight away
i guess tarim can be swapped for a big taunt, but he's also key in any pally deck
i've found blood knights are preety good cards in divine shield paladin
steward and rallying blade must haves
Hope this helps :3
That's WAY too many cards missing. :P
Hello bro.
Yes you can reach rank 5 with this deck. I am playing it on legend ranks and has pretty good win rate overall. No i didn't have any particular problems with card draw and i think that 2 Blood knights is overkill yea.
I've been playing a very similar deck with good results but mine features -1 Light's Sorrow, -1 Spellbreaker / +2 Stormwatcher It's a little less removal but it makes the deck a lot more aggressive as Stormwatcher has great synergy with Corpsetaker.
I've also found, unless Bolvar comes out, you don't get great value out of Steward of Darkshire so I've replaced those with +2 Stonehill Defender. This helps to mitigate some of this deck's lack of card draw.
Hello. I am totally positive for having one silence minion in with the amount of taunts being around on the current meta. Stonehills feel slow cards for me at the moment and this deck already has a bunch of mid range minions in. Darkshire provides more tempo than Stonehill in my opinion especially with Lights Sorrow and Blood knight together with both weapons either buffing the minion from hero power or being buffed by it. As far as Stormwatcher is concerned, i agree it might be helpful sometimes but i dont feel like removing Spellbreaker or my only Light's Sorrow for it. You might want to try playing only one and removing consecration !
In answer to both guys who asked about Steward, i have mentioned the use of it in the description ! Its very helpfull with the weapons, blood knight and bolvar !
hero power into divine shield to buff bolivar
Is Steward of Darkshire really worth playing with no synergy cards? I know it synergizes with Hero Power but is that really enough to warrant the slot? I feel like some kind of card draw or tech card would be better but I wanted to ask specifically how that card felt before I try the deck.
Very good deck!!!
How can i replace Wickerflame Burnbristle?
I am afraid that Wickerflame Burnbristle is a core card for this deck with divine shield minions and its very hard to be replaced by anything. But well, hmm you could try a second Blood Knight or a Silvermoon Guardian
I have been playing a deck very similarly to this, and I too have had success against the matchups you describe. I actually tend to have problems against kibler's deck, and other murloc paladins. What is your toughest matchup?
