Thought rogue was going to be very weak this expansion....but just blasted through ranked with this deck. The key with this deck is to keep board control with minions. Make opponent be in a defensive position.
Went from rank 15 to 5 in 1.8 hours. Winrate 26-3 (90%)
Best matchup:Warrior(7-0) Worst matchup:Shaman (3-1) 75%
UPDATE 12/5/2016: I think my high win rate on ASIA server was due to being the first day on ladder and caught people by surprise. I attempted climbing the ladder to my usual goal of rank 5 for season(to get epic golden card) on U.S. server, and I stalled at rank 9-10. Pirate warrior was now one of my hardest matchups. Thus, I made these changes: +1 argent squire(turn 1-2 for pirate warrior is too hard to counter without backstab), -1 buccaneer, +1 small-time buccaneer, +1 acidic swamp ooze, -1 Southsea squidface, -1 Si:7 agent, -1 Bloodsail Raider, -1 Captain Greenskin, +1 Silthid Swarmer, +1 Argent Horserider, and +1 Coldlight Oracle. And then got to rank 5 a few days ago. If anyone wants proof lmk, I can screenshot.
Proof for Twinxs:
Cards I'd definentely consider adding: Another Small-Time Buccaneer. THIS is the one main card you want to mulligan for in your starting hand. So having 2 will help you have a better start. Might replace southsea deckhand or swashburglar for this.
Cards that might be beneficial but needs testing: Spiteful Smith(Replace either captain greenskin or luckydo)
Hey guys! Just climbed to the legend rank on EU. With this deck i stacked on rank 1 where i met a lot of agro shamans and my winrate went down. So i change my deck to the pirate miracle rogue, that has good chances to bit this shamans and in few days take legend. I think with pirates only its also possible to take legend with some luck.
So rogue is alive and in T2 meta (according to tempostorm) and its is possible to climb to legend ranks. Goodluck for everyone!
And also my last version of this deck with which i took 1 rank.
Sorry, this deck is just super weak compared to the Warrior pirate deck. At rank 9 it loses to everything, it's too slow compared to Warrior and is easily defeated by a few taunts.
Just climbed to rank 5.
Some analytics and statistics about meta (eu ladder). The most common matchups is renolock, jadedruid, pirate warrior. The easiest mathcups is shamans, druids and warlocks.
The hardest matchups is dragon tempo priests, reno priests and taunt warriors ( fortunately they are rare ).
For pirate warrior its 60/40 for me, the main reason of this i see that rogue have cheap removals and more control of the board in early turns. So im trying to mulligan Backstab, SI:7 Agent or even Eviscerate to kill theirs Frothing Berserker. Most warriors doesn't like to trade, and just going to face, but in my opinion if you play versus agro deck you need in first 4 turns try to save your board, even if you will lose some health.
Jade druids already learn how to play versus agro decks, but they still will lose you if you will push them from firsts turns. Only with goldfish in their hand like taunts, swipes they can bit you.
Renolock the easiest mutchup of this three. Just mulligan 1 backstab for Mistress of Mixtures and Dark Peddler. Also try to play around Hellfire on turn 4, Shady Dealer and Southsea Captain that will buff your minions to 4 health will help you.
I like this deck for fun and pirates. Also it is a rogue, our favorite class, which realy rare today in ladder, and still effective for climbing to high ranks or even legend.
This my current list and i'll trying to take legend with it:) Maybe later i'll swap Southsea Squidface for second Naga Corsair or something else.
Sup guys, I was trying some variations too and once time when I went to tinker it realized that one of the recipe decks they did was a Tempo Pirate Rogue which surprised me a lot and that gave me some tips on how to start with the deck build.
My old list was basically this however with Southsea Squidface which I think is very slow in current meta the same goes for Luckydo Buccaneer.
Naga Corsair really surprised me and actually is a good card for this deck, and I'm feeling comfortable running the Assassin's Blade right now that synergizes very well with her.
Check out my current list, hope you enjoy
I agree, although I only played 2 games I felt something was missing, had that Luckydo Buccaneer in my hand and couldn't do anything with it. I had the opponent low in both games but could never finish then. Gonna go for Assassin's blade too and maybe something like Argent Horserider. I don't have Skycap'n Kragg and Leeroy is a bit late. Bubble + Cold Blood seems good.
edit: will get Leeroy in anyway
In my current list, I am running Argent Horseride :) I updated all the changes to combat the meta that has formed.
So, I went 0-6 with this deck. The deck shows promise, but it just wasn't there for me.
As i said below dont try to control a board with your minions, Jade druids too slow and u can smash them in turn 6-7.
First three jade golems u can just trade with your weapon, and save your board. After turn 4-5 dont even try to save board, its impossible, just search a lethal. The most biggest danger from all druids for this deck is Living Roots on first turn, because its very hard too mulligan from this move.
I agree with Panda_ua90, jade druid is going to be impossible to beat late game. Just look at other control decks such as dragon priest having a hard time beating them late game. With Jade Druid, you have the advantage of early game so push as much damage as you can and put him on the defensive.
Just take 5 rank with this deck. Test few variations of it and this is what im changed:
-[card]Captain Greenskin[/card] (dont have it, but it's not a very important card for pirate rogue cause we dont smash the face with our weapon like pirate warrior or face warrior) - [card] Luckydo Buccaneer[/card] (toooo slow for this deck plus sometimes its too hard to get work battlecry) -1[card]Swashburglar[/card] (most times didnt work at all, just pirate for 1 mana 1/1) -1[card]Southsea Squidface[/card] (too slow and also needed weapon equipped to get some value from this card, in best cases it will give +2 damage for 1/1 dagger)
+1[card]Naga Corsair[/card] (not the best card, but working well, have a little bit more tempo than Captain Greenskin, and also have nice buff) +1Coldlight Oracle (if u can't finish yours opponent for 6-7 turn, draw 2 cards to find your lethal) +1[card] Small-Time Buccaneer[/card] (the most op and important card for this deck, just take 2 copies and no comments, try to mulligan in 95% matches) +[card]Leeroy Jenkins[/card] (and with this card this deck starts to play, really need to have some powerful finisher)
The main idea for this deck is to play fast pirates in first turns, than buff them with [card]Southsea Captain[/card], prepare your weapon with buffs and than on turn 6-7 finish your opponent with Cold Blood and Eviscerate.
Dont even try to control a board after turn 4, you dont have enough powerful createrus to do value trades, and in this turns there are a lot of powerful aoe speels that will clear all your board. This deck has 16 damage with 4 cards that you can play just from hand and do a lot of damage to your's oppenent face (be sure that you still have charge in your hand, use it wisely).
My stats with this deck 56-30 (65% win rate). Goodluck and have fun.
P.S. I'm sorry for mistakes.
nice deck, had some success with it. but it seems hard to make the Luckydo Buccaneer work. just a Drakonid Crusher or Leeroy Jenkins is more reliable imho
Luckydo Buccaneer is great in the control matchup where they have exhausted all removal and are totally unprepared for a 9/9 drop from a tempo deck
Can't win a single game with this deck on EU servers... Could you write a detailed guide perhaps? Maybe im misunderstading the deck
step 1 - get good
The deck relies on a strong opening from pirate/weapon synergy, cheap removal from Backstab and good early trades with Patches the Pirate to get board and tempo lead, if you are playing from behind, you lose
Thanks canigetanipa, won a few games now and the deck feels less cheap than pirate warrior as it seems to involve a little more strategy.
why nobody use that combo Gang up + Patches?
This deck has no card draw and patches pops up as the first minion. That means Gang Up is completely useless unless you draw it by turn 2 and your opponent didn't kill patches. So this will never ever happen.
I tried to make an OTK style-miracle hybrid with Patches, Gang Up, and Southsea Captain, but at best you will have only three 3/3 charge minions if you don't draw the rest of the Patches through Gadgetzan Auctioneer trying to draw the second Southsea Captain, it's pretty ineffective.
