My current variant of Jackker's deck that reached legend in June 2016. Unlike the "Secret Shields" deck list, this deck tries to generate 1 health tokens and buff them with Steward of Darkshire. With the release of Karazhan, I have added Moroes and Barnes to the package because they fits the scheme very well, creating a shielded 1/1. As a combo, play Steward first, and your Moroes will be shielded as well as stealthed! Consider saving a coin to play them together on turn 5 if your draws cooperate!
For a deck list based on pre-shielded minions based on Jambre's climb to top 5 legend, see http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/594034-secret-shields-paladin-legend.
Started using this deck in the July 2016 season, and went 29-17 in ranked play (63% win rate). This is not a aggro deck; rather, we are keeping tempo and applying consistent pressure by keeping a presence on the board until we can play Mysterious Challenger on turn 6. We hope to have so much momentum, and so many pesky secrets and shielded tokens, that the opponent simply can't deal with our threats anymore.
It is very possible that we do not play Steward of Darkshire until turn 5, so we can combo it with Bilefin Tidehunter for 2 guaranteed shielded minions, or hero power for 1 shielded minion. Keep in mind that Steward will also shield any of the following, while it yet lives: Moroes, Abusive Sergeant, Selfless Hero, as well as spawns from Dragon Egg and Noble Sacrifice.
*** Specific class match-ups at 25 upvotes ***
Basic mulligan strategy:
- Always keep [card]Argent Squire[/card] or at least one other 1 mana minion
- Keep Abusive Sergeant if you already have another 1-drop
- Keep Rallying Blade if you have a 1-drop OR the coin
- Keep Moroes if you have a 1-drop OR the coin
- Keep Steward of Darkshire if you have a 1-drop OR the coin
- Keep [card]Mysterious Challenger[/card] if you have a 1-drop AND the coin
- Keep Keeper of Uldaman against Shaman/Druid/Priest/Warrior
- Don't keep secrets
Possible curve:
1. Argent Squire
2. Bilefin Tidehunter or Abusive Sergeant
3. Rallying Blade or Moroes
4. Keeper of Uldaman
5. Steward of Darkshire and Bilefin Tidehunter
6. Mysterious Challenger
7. Blessing of Kings and Divine Favor or Moroes
8. Tirion Fordring
I tossed an extra copy of Divine Favor to add Knife Juggler and Stand Against Darkness for synergy and to refill the board on turn 5 or 7.
Possible card substitutions:
+ Truesilver Champion
+ Selfless Hero
+ Argent Horserider
+ Argent Protector
+ Consecration
+ Stand Against Darkness
+ Silvermoon Portal
I just want to add that this build is an anti zoolock. I just decimated my friend who was playing a zoolock, using this deck. His board got cleared and i just kept churning out more minions (mostly due to Moroes)then he could handle while having left overs going for his face. and each turn he spent trying to clear my board but it just wasn't enough. it hilarious how strong this deck can be :X To clarify, huge credits also go to Steward of Darkshire who helped Moroes and other minions get onto the board which created a momentum where minions already on board from previous round clear his board, and my new minions come in shielded. In this game i didn't even have to use Divine Favor yet either.
Forgot to make a recording of the game sorry :{
PS: as long as you don't deal with aoes, or you do manage to buff moroes to avoid getting killed even behind his stealth, and maybe keep darkshire alive long enough, this deck can really build a ton of momentum for you :]
interesting upgrade from the secret pala, im gonna test it in ranked (im 5 at the moment) and see what i could do with ti
looks like a jackker's improved for karazhan patch, i like it. I'll give it a try and post back my findings.
k made p1 (vs hunter) video of this build in action. it pulled the old cards even though i'm using the new build, so i'll make a p2 (so we can see Moroes, Barnes, Knife Juggler interaction at work), but at least it is viable when it pulls even the cards from the original only.
In part 2 (vs priest), managed to pull Moroes, Barnes and Steward of Darkshire near the end of the game. Of more accurately, barnes summoned a 1/1 darkshire which is nice value since i then managed to combo into moroes to get him shielded for extra proofing against aoes.
in p3 (vs shaman) i demonstrate how it's hard to build shielded minions to avoid getting aoe nuked by shamans .... Moroes is 1/1 stealth, he can die easily to shammy :{ won regardless but was a hard fight.
In part 4 (vs warrior), Moroes is the MVP of the game. casted him straight after a ghoul aoe, and the warrior opponent luckily didn't have a 2nd ghoul or any other aoe on hand, so moroes helped build the board on my side, which helped me wrestle back the initiative on the board to finally win the match. Knife Juggler also managed to combo with him before he got removed in the next turn. i buffed up moroes for a guarantee he could not be removed from board, as they couldn't even cast spells directly on it for removal, but at the cost of me not using moroes for attacking until near the end where it wouldn't matter if he tried to kill it off by then. This just goes to show that moroes isn't bad, it's just that you need to dodge all the aoes for him to build enough momentum to be good, which against some opponents is tough. in regards to buffing moroes, Silvermoon Portal may be a good card to consider adding, as it buffs him away from being 1hp only to counter all the 1-2 aoe spells, also you get a free 2 cost minion to possibly combo with darkshire if your lucky as well as knife juggler.
Barnes early on though was a bit disappointing since he only pulled a 1/1 Keeper of Uldaman which wasn't really worth much. Maybe if i had an Ironbeak Owl or some silence it could turn the keeper back into her original 3/4 stats ?
PS: notice that the games wrap up between 5-10 minutes, which is pretty good as a hunter alternative for farming gold. Thats why for ranks 10-20 on ladder especially these sort of non control decks are good if only to play more games and have a decent win rate in order to get your 100 gold daily or near to it while avoiding control deck builds that drag the game to 20-30minutes. played 4 games so far with a 100% win rate in a row. need at least a dozen of games played before you can make a more credible inference from this but so far it's a playable deck at the very least from the initial testing.
