Quick Guide (will write more extensively if there is enough demand/upvotes):
- Mulligan in a way that you ideally play something on turns one through three
- only keep secrets in opening hand if they have useful interactions (e.g. Secretkeeper + any secret; Haunted Creeper +Redemption, Knife Juggler or Steward of Darkshire + Noble Sacrifice)
- can keep Divine Favor if sure to play against priest or control warrior and the rest of the hand will be emptied fairly quickly
- face is almost never the place before Mysterious Challenger shows up
- it is the place when you have a double Secretkeeper + secret nuts hand though
- Steward of Darkshire is your earlygame MVP, always try to get some amount of value from it (amazing with Muster for Battle, Haunted Creeper, Noble Sacrifice)
- play N'Zoth as late as possible and always count for the spots left on the battlefield (I lost some unnessecary games because I had some Recruits stick around and Mr. Zoth not bringing back the right minions)
- N'Zoth also enables a less risky and more trade-heavy approach to how to handle your mid- to lategame minions. Always try to get maximum value out of everything or this will lose against "real" control decks.
- Loatheb was my flex slot here. Add Sylvanas if you face the mirror a lot, Consecration for zoo and aggro, Cairne Bloodhoof if there's a lot of warriors going around.
Since the comments section is getting a bit crowded, here's a little FAQ:
Q: Why no Dr. Boom?
A:
The Boom Bots take up too much "space" on the N'zoth board in my experience. You really need your Belchers and Shredders to be there when you need them (remember that he also brings back your creepers). And since our board can get a bit flooded by divine shielded 1/1s, it doesn't need to get flooded by boom bots that practically do nothing after N'zoth hits anyway. This deck really needs to "win" early and mid game to be effective and a 7 drop stuck in your hand won't help that. We already run quite a high amount of end game drops anyway.
Q: Why no Shielded Minibot?
A:
They practically take the same spot as Steward of Darkshire.
However, the deck loses quite a bit of great synergies when you remove Steward. Without her, Muster for Battle,Noble Sacrifice, and Haunted Creeper become quite a bit weaker and only really synergize with the already not that great nerfed Knife Juggler. In my experience, these synergies are what win you the mirror matches against "proper"secret paladins, zoo, and shaman (see the win ratio in the description).
Many thanks to Darkseeker83 for putting up a cool video with a version of this deck where he discusses all of his plays:
thanks again to Darkseeker83 for another great video, this time in the July 2016 season:
I trusted this and crafted N'zoth. Now I'm sad for my wasted 1600 dust. Could craft another legendary...
Which Legendary would you craft first for this deck? Tirion Fordring or N'Zoth, the Corruptor? I have everything but these two, Loatheb, and Coghammer. I'm leaning towards Tirion Fordring for the extra Taunt, but am unsure.
*I'm making this deck on a secondary account, so I don't care about using N'Zoth, the Corruptor in other classes.*
I would suggest Tirion Fordring, too. In some cases you will have the possibility to play Redemption with Tirion Fordring together (make sure no other minions are on your side). So you get an Ashbringer and a second 6/1 Tirion back on your board with Divine Shield.
Beware only of Shaman (Hex) or Mage (Polymorph).
ANy possible replacements for Loatheb? Really cbf crafting him.
Look at posting #16, maybe this helps you:
Glad you like it! I used to alternate between Sylvanas Windrunner,Loatheb, and Cairne Bloodhoof according to the daily "mini meta" on the ladder. Sylvanas is better in the mirror, Cairne is better against Warrior, Loatheb is better against Mage, Shaman and Priest.
@einselftausend: Nice deck; with it I've rushed from rank 20 to 13 in a few hours. It is my first secret paladin (just crafted the second Mysterious Challenger three days ago) and I don't regret it :-)
Weak matchups?
My goal is to hit rank 5 with this deck. I am at rank 8 right now but I am having a really hard time dealing with priests. i was able to deal with them relatively easily before rank 10 but there was a huge power surge after rank 10. I have been playing around lightbomb (as much as possible and tried to take control of the game early on but most of them curve out just as well as I do with cards like chow, cultist and power words). How do you deal with priests?
Ps. If I had loatheb I would put him in but I don't.
I also dont have Uldman which I know would be insanely useful against priest. I will get her in one week though (I need to farm gold). I also dont have coghammer(I am broke I have spent more than 3000 dust) on this deck), how useful is it and in what matchups does it prove most useful.
I found the perfect video to show what is happening to me when I verse priests.

This a video of lifecoach playing secret paladin, at 1:07:00 He begins a match against a priest and what happens to him is what happens to me 75% of my matches against priest.
Could you give me feedback on how to win in those situations.
Thanks :)
I can put cairn for tirion ?
ok ty :)
I've never liked Competitive Spirit in Mysterious Challenger decks, feels like a winmore card and often dead in hand.
I'm playing Eater of Secrets over it because fuck Freeze mages and the mirror. Also helpful vs Hunter.
During this season - I tried your deck out again and had great success with it. Managed to hit rank 6 quite quickly!
I made another video showcasing my journey to 6.
I hope I pronounced your name correctly in the video :-)

Highlights include overcoming Patrons, C'thun Warriors and surviving at 2 health against a Shaman!!!
It's an awesome deck - thank you for creating it!
Hi Einsel, what would you recommend for playing against warriors and priests? I had great luck with this deck, going from rank 21 to rank 10 with NO losses, got to rank 5 with very little trouble, and I have been stuck there since June 9th. Tips?
Just hit Rank 5 with Darkseeker83's change (-1xSteward +1xConsecration). Thanks all!
I've played 40 games and barely went from 25 to 16
Meanwhile, I've played maybe 40 games in Standard and went from 20 to 12
The deck has no consistency. Every single game is solitaire hoping I draw something to play early that isn't immediately countered by the rampant zoolocks or griefing priests who solely exist to beat you
I've drawn N'zoth in my opening hand post mulligan about 20% of the time. Same with Redemption. I've drawn into 2x Avenge with 2x Sludge Belcher twice. I've had Muster + Steward about 6 times, and only once been able to gain anything out of it
I hate wild
You have played wild from the start of Hearthstone. So basically you hated pre WOG Hearthstone.
Hey, great deck. I put out one Steward for a Dr.Boom for another big endgame threat, went from rank 22 to 16 without a lose today.
Gameplay footage
Love this went to Rank 5. Thanks brother. What do you think of Bilefin Tidehunter instead of Haunted Creeper? Seems a bit faster and like the taunt.
