Thanks Khristophesaurus For this Amazing video!
This is the newest priest deck I use in this season. The reason I use it is because it can improve the winrate of faceing aggro decks and its stability against aggro decks such as face hunter, mech mage. Those decks don’t use silent cards or they don't have many removal cards. So it usually wastes the opponent more damage to deal with when you double the life of deathlord. And when you make a wall with more than 20 HP.I think the opposite will be desperate. At the same time, this deck also has a good performance facing the traditional control decks, especially against patron.
Overall Strategy:
This deck keeps the main part of the dragon priest and runs two lightbombs as removal solution methods, runs divine spirit and inner fire as lethal damage push, because usually the life of cards in dragon priest is relatively high and very good synergy with buff cards. When you have a minion of 6 or moreHP you have a good chance to kill opponents minion at little cost. Of course these buff cards not only use in OTK combo, but also can make a wall to win easily against aggro decks.
Here is an analysis of different match ups
Favored Match Ups: Face hunter, mech mage, aggro druid, patron, secret paladin, zoo etc..
Mulligan: Northshire cleric, Twilight Whelp Wymest agent, Deathlord. If you have a deathlord you can also keep one divine spirit.
Against these decks first of lal you need to look for 1, 2 cost or deathlord to keep board presence while looking for opportunities to buff your high hp cards, for example deathlord and twilight guardian. but remember dont invest buff on the same creature unless you have leathal so when the opponent silences it you dont lose too much board control and it keeps board presence after trading. When playing against aggro decks board control matters more thsn removal. you should play minions as much as you can.
50/50 Games
Midrange pally, oil rogue:
Mulligan: Northshire cleric twilight whelp wyrmest agent deathlord. you can also keep azure drake and twilight guardian when you have 1 or 2 cost creature.
This deck doesnt have many 50/50 match ups because it has great advantage over agro decks and control decks with no methods to do a lot of damage to get lethal. It lacks against late game decks with high lethal dmg in one turn. So when you face mid pally and oil rogue, they do not have to play around ur buff cards, because pally can use equality and oil rogue sap so try to bait them then use buff, or when your minion can attack or trade to get some value not the turn you play the minion
Unfavored Match Ups: Handlock control warrior, mid range druid
Mulligan:
Northshire Cleric, Twilight Whelp, Wyrmest Agent, Deathlord Azure Drake, Twilight guardian. Dont keep the combo, we need more creatures for board pressure.
These are bad match ups but we if we get good early board control or dmg we can get good value from trading.
When playing handlock, we need to control the board and try to draw as much as possion into divivine spirit and innerfire to easily kill our opponent. try and draw these cards while applying as much board presssure as possible . The key is to find the right time to use a bomb as well. Against control warrior and mid druid, get as many value trades and draw a lot with cleric mean while trying to maintain board control. We need Northshire cleric early in these match ups to draw.
Our worse match up Freeze Mage
Mulligan: Low cost creatures and innerfire/ divine spirit
Freeze mage is the opponent we do not want to see due to the lack of heals. There is no way to deal with frost nova and doomsayer. When we face freeze mage we must try and grab combo and push as much dmg between turns 3-5. We do not wait to combo this match up. IN order to win we must get early dmg , and hope we kill by turn 7 or 8 and use boom bots in our favor as well.
Alternative Cards:
Dark Cultist: This card can be used when facing control decks, it can effectively trade and buff our own creature compared to deathlord without any sides.
Shade of naxx: it is best against control decks because it is safe to buff this card.
Eydis Darkbane: This card works fine in this deck, but its random affect can affect our desired goal, and in order to activate it we might waste some buff cards which will lead us to lose some games so i personally dont run this card.
Key Cards:
Deathlord: Against face decks, its side effect will be very small and play it after clearing the board using like lightbomb the opponent usually cant deal with it. Against patron it can pull the warsong and frothing berserker and we will the let the opponent cry in despair :D
Lightbomb: Against patron secret pally and handlock this card usually gives us the victory why it is important to run two.
Hope this guide helps a lot of people. Feel free to send me a message if you have anymore questions. I stay away from comments generally too many trolls
Edit took out sylvannas put in chillmaw
http://www.twitch.tv/dwayna27 I just started streaming come watch me :D
So far 50/50 with this deck against Control Warrior. Last contest went into 4 points of fatigue.
Early on, everything I played he had an answer too drawing both axes, Shield Slams, and Bash so pretty much nuking everything I had down. Which was good as I was getting rid of alot of his removal but he still had his executes. I used a Corruptor w/ Velens to draw out 1 execute and a Sorcerer w/ DS/IF to draw out the other. Leaving me with 1 combo, Deathlord, Twilight Guardian, Lightbomb, Azure Drake, and the deal 5 dmg to everything but Ysera card heading into fatigue. The killing blow he had a Shield Maiden, Ysera, 1 charge of Death's Bite, and 2 cards in hand. Finished him off with the 16/16 Deathlord and the deal 5 damage card from Ysera.
If you can't punish a control warrior early on then try to hold out as long as you can and try to exhaust all their removal before setting up for a combo.
Pls sub syl and lightbomb. K thx.
Sylv is a value card unless silenced but is still a 5/5 body and Lightbomb is an aoe. Why sub them when they fit perfectly into this deck?
I don't have them.....
I just need a lightbomb sub now
Is anybode else went to legend with it? or to 1-2 rank?
yes waning moon and several other people on my friends list
but if ur meta is control warrior and freeze mage u wont hit legend with it i got it in an agro meta. Meta shifts daily
Really nice deck, took awhile to get used to, once I did I am having lots of fun with it. I made a few changes that I really like. Swapped out sylvanas, boom and 1 whelp for eydis, toshley and a 2nd dragonkin (someone posted a similar deck that ran toshley and eydis). Didn't feel like boom or sylvanas fit with the deck too much and I really liked dragonkin so I wanted a second one and with eydis the spare parts from toshley are really helpful, not to mention if you get stealth you can hide a death lord for the next turn combo or use the swap health as a combo piece if you don't have an inner fire in hand.
thanks for the deck.
So why not run chillmaw, why dr. boom instead? chillmaw has more removal with all these dragons?
2 Lightbombs as well as a Holy Nova is plenty of removal. Chillmaw also damages your board as well. Have won alot of games already without even using Dr Boom. Plus the good DR prompts immediate removal usually which allows more wiggle room for your other threats.
This deck shouldn't work. But it does. It wins out of nowhere. 10/10
After some pause im back with this deck on ladder, on 5 rank. Its be easy on start of season(from 12 to 5), but now its so hard. I lose to every control war, to druid(2 sielence, and many remuvals - so its not hard to him kill deathlord on 3-4 turn).... and now i start lose to every secret paly - they ALWAYS kill deathlord on 3-4 turn(i think - now they no wtf it is - and try kill this for begining) with weopen or blessing, and reciev +1 minion - after this i dont have enough minions on my hand.
And yes - i met this deck 3-4 time - when i play secret paly or dragons(standart) - and i always win - because as i know - i only need fast to kill his minion.
If you lose your minions on start - iys gg.
I dont know - may be im too - doing somthing wrong, but im realy dont know how to laddeing with this deck on 5-1 ranks for now :(
Do not play Deathlord unless you know that it can't be removed. You are giving your opponent a minion by playing it early with no removal out.
For example, I just played a tempo mage. I was using PWS and Velens on Wyrmrest, Dragon Sorcerer, and Twilight Guardians which baited his fireballs out. With his removal wasted on other minions I brought out a Deathlord that he couldn't kill with removal and through Divine Spirit on it making it impossible to clear. It took me a couple turns to remove his taunt minions (a Wyrmwrest agent which he used Mirror Entity to get and Mirror Images) but after that was done and having Divine Spirit and Inner Fire in hand I was able to buff a Deathlord and win. Moral of my story is to bait removal before setting up a win condition.
And what you will play by turn 3? You have only 35% to have Wyrmrest and in hand. Moust of game - you will not have early minions on hand. I played this deck about 80 games, and i realy have a trouble with start of the game - like a standart dragon priest(but it has shrink as 2 turn drop, and some times word pain).
In start of seasen - its was esy for me - i killed aggro, patrons, secrets and "narko" decks. But now - secrets on EU play with equity, and trys to killed lord for start. And if you dont play lord - moust of time - you will be pass the turn.
If i don't have anything to play I won't play and either play a Sorcerer or a Guardian on turn 4. Don't mulligan for your combo pieces including Deathlord as those cards are win conditions. Mulligan for your 1 and 2 cards or possibly a Guardian.
If you are playing against Pally always expect them to be running Concecrate and Equality so you need to play around those. Go look at what removal every class has and play around them rather than going for a quick kill. Watch Khristof's video (which is posted at the top of the page) for a good idea on how to play against pally.
Always buff Agents and Guardians with PWS and Velen's because those usually prompt people to use removal on them as you recently have buffed them. Save Deathlords for later.
Calinis is a man who knows how to play the deck :D
Thank you. I've always enjoyed playing priest even back when you buffed Lightspawn with Divine Spirit/Innerfire as a possible win condition and started playing Dragon Priest w/ TCG so pretty much know the ins and outs of Priest decks. Even thou they were considered bottom tier until TCG, I still played them. All it takes is a little research.
I dont know - maybe im now so unlucky.. but if i will not play 3 drop - i can die) Because i will have 0 minions on borad.. as for 4 drop - so you get in to face - on turn 2 from secrecepper, than you get to face on turn 3 from + jugller, and than you get face on turn 4... and you must pray to do on turn 5 lord+Divine spirit.. and pray that paly dont have in hand eq or owl...
I realy dont now - i have now about 10 games, and i has only in one 1-2 drops on start, and only in this game paly dont have owl or eq.. maybe im so unlucky) But when you lose 7-8 games in a row - to secret paly - its realy infuriates :D
Once again, you are not baiting their removal or not going for the correct mulligans if you are using a deathlord and divine spirit on turn 5.
