Greetings!
The deck was born shortly after I was wondering "would it even work"? So I tested it. Welcome to the Unfair Combo Priest, whom nobody has probably ever seen (except playing versus me).
So, the idea is to play the 10 mana combo: Enbrace the Shadow + Eyyrella, the Devout. It will trigger all the enemy-healing deathrattles, but deal damage instead. As there are plenty of those in the deck, we can get some deadly damage from it (30-50 in most cases). Especially if we resummon the minions during the game. Welcome!
Why Unfair, you ask? Well, we are gonna play some amazing-stats-for-the-cost minions and duplicate/resummon them a lot. Then, deal crazy damage in one turn
General tips:
- As we run many enemy-healing minions, the deck is heavily focused on board control, so there are almost no face hits at all.
- Make sure to trade all your board before using the combo.
- Try to use Illuminate for finding the combo parts only.
- Gift of Luminance is a good keep sometimes.
- Amulet of Undying and Sister Svalna are pretty useles here, both are too slow.
- Keep in mind that this deck is very sensitive to cards such as Mutanus the Devourer and Theotar, the Mad Duke.
Mulligan:
- Aim for Zombie Chow, Shadowed Spirit, Hench-Clan Shadequill, Astalor Bloodsworn
- You can keep The Light! It Burns! if you are afraid of aggro.
- You can also keep Shard of the Naaru if you have no Zombie Chow, so you can trade it during turn one.
- Always throw away Embrace the Shadow and Xyrella, the Devout, as those are always the dead cards.
- Gift of Luminance is a good keep in some cases.
Key cards explained:
- Illuminate – helps to find the combo parts
- Zombie Chow – excellent stats for the cost; good against aggro; 5 damage to the face
- Shadowed Spirit – additional 3 damage to the face
- Embrace the Shadow – combo part; as we run two of those, it can be used to push damage independently
- Gift of Luminance – summons additional minion; helps with profitable trades
- Grave Rune – summons two additional minions
- Hench-Clan Shadequill – excellent stats for the cost; 5 damage to the face
- Corrupted Healbot – 8 damage to the face
- Spirit Guide – helps to find the combo parts
- Undying Disciple – good against aggro; works perfectly with [card]Gift of
- Luminance[/card] and Grave Rune
- Xyrella, the Devout – combo part, try to use only if you are about to win the game this turn
I also use:
- Shard of the Naaru – mostly for the Tradeable keyword; helps fighting for the board
- Astalor Bloodsworn – tempo boost
For removal, I run:
- The Light! It Burns! – good against basically everything
- Hysteria – amazing potential, I love it
- Clean the Scene – great, scaling answer to any deck
- Excavated Evil – cheap removal, we don't care about giving it to the enemy
- Lightbomb – you will always find a way to use it
None of those is a must, so feel free to use any removal set you like.
You can also play:
- Shard of the Naaru (the second)
- Shadowed Spirit (the second)
- Resurrect (then, remove Zombie Chow)
- Psychopomp (then, remove Zombie Chow)
- Grave Digging, as Zombie Chow, Shadowed Spirit, and Undying Disciple are the Undead (and we duplicate those a lot)
- Convincing Infiltrator (synergy with Gift of Luminance and Grave Rune)
- Emperor Thaurissan + Voidtouched Attendant
- Kobold Sandtrooper instead of Shadowed Spirit for synergy with Gift of Luminance against aggro (note that Kobold is not an Undead)
- Mistress of Mixtures against aggro (the combo damage dealt to your face probably won't matter)
- Gift of the Naaru
- Cathedral of Atonement
