Hello, everyone.  Balzack here.  Writing up a fun deck I made for Tavern Brawl.  The deck loses to turn 2 Rogue and Druid combos but, don't we all? Versus these decks, mulligan aggressively for Mutanus the Devourer or The Curator which searches Mutanus to prevent a turn 1 threat,  and also for Brasswing or Sire Denathrius to knock out turn 1 threats when it comes

Because this is a throwaway deck (Tavern Brawl) I won't get into the metagame that much, so let's get into the nitty gritty.

Aggro:

The deck has a turn 2 win of its own with Alexstrasza turn 1 for 15 damage.  Turn 2 has several possibilities:

1. Turn 2 two Troll Centurions dealing the final 16 damage

2. Turn 2 Sathrovar one of the Troll Centurions to make a duplicate for 16 damage

3.  Turn 2 Brann Bronzebeard plus Alexestrasza the Life-Binder for 16 damage.

4. Turn 2 coin Brann Bronzebeard plus 2 Pit Crocolisks for 5x2x2= 20 damage.

5. Turn 2 coin Brann Bronzebeard plus Sire Denathrius plus 1 Pit Crocolisk for 5x2x2 = 20 damage

6. Any of the above but with Ragnaros the FIrelord.

The deck works with Humongous Owl.  Because Owl doesn't specifically hit the opponent, it was cut for attrition cards.  Let me know if the metagame balances out and Owl is strong enough. If you're lacking in legendaries, Humongous Owl gets my vote.  Octosari is very powerful and works as a rival to Malygos The Spellweaver which other decks have and this deck doesn't. For mana advantage, Emperor Thaurissan works very well.

Control:

The deck needs to prevent dying to the mirror turn 2, and other turn 2 wins, so what to do?

1. Mutanus the Devourer - If going second against Rogue or Druid, ditch the quest and play coin plus Brann + Mutanus to rip the combo out of the opponent's hands.  Even if the combo isn't gone, taking out an Alexestrasza the Life-Binder out of the hand will force the opponent to start digging and that means less killing you.

2. Theotar, The Mad Duke - Less powerful than Mutanus but the deck has a weak quest card that can be given out to grab a Gadgetzan Auctioneer out of the opponent's hand before the opponent's deck goes haywire.

3. Ancient Brewmaster - bouncing Mutanus to replay does wonders, although there are few ways of knowing if the opponent is out of creatures in hand, since the metagame is never truly solved in one week.

4.Brasswing - Spirit of the Shark is how Rogue pops off, and it has Stealth, so there aren't many ways of killing it turn 1.  Brasswing is one of them. I wish I had 2.

5. Ragnaros the Firelord - doesn't always kill Spirit of the Shark turn 1, but the opponent still won't expect losing their combo turn 1.

Attrition:

The Curator - back from 2016 in style, grabs Mutanus, Brasswing/one of the Alexstraszas, and a Pit Crocolisk.

Varian, King of Stormwind - For the Rush ability, draws Troll Centurion or The Leviathan, for Divine Shield, grabs The Leviathan or one of the Fordrings, for Taunt, grabs one of the Fordrings or The Curator.  I'm not typing out all the combinations.  It doesn't matter which ones it grabs, the point is to have 5-10 more cards than the opponent so they concede from card advantage

Chromaggus - thought to be unplayable since Un'Goro, combines with Varian, King of Stormwind and The Curator for massive card draw.  The opponent will forget how powerful he was and will be left alone, to his or her undoing.

Lifegain

Ragnaros, the LIghtlord - Not a Lifelord, but a Lightlord, will undo a lot of the damage enemy Alexstraszas will do.

Ivory Knight - I'm unsure how much lifegain the deck needs, since some OTK decks work over 2 turns.  A true one-turn-kill makes lifegain moot.  It's better than Amber Watcher, which gains 8 health but doesn't draw a card.  This one does. The first card to cut.

Metagame - Once again Hearthpwn marks my articles as spam for being too long.  If you want to hear matchup results, post in the comments and they will appear more often.
