Control Shaman but with Bombs as a finisher in the late game ! Get your quest going then :
- Seaforium Bomber puts 2 bombs in your opponent's deck.
- Augmented Elekk was in the deck but after some playtesting it feels like too much, 6/8 bombs against control is already enough pressure.
- Ofc, Shudderwock replays all these bombs TWICE if you have the coin or got him with Jepetto.
- more burn damage with Weaponized Wasp being able to deal 6 to the enemy face or help control the board.
- Lifedrinker is another 6 burn damage but also 6 heal to help stabilize and have time to burn our opponent through bombs.
Early game plays :
Just mulligan hard for Questing Explorer and the lackey generators. Lackeys, in addition of Weaponized Wasp are great tool to take control of the board in early game and give you the time you need to finish your quest.
Late game stabilizing tools :
- 2x Hagatha's Scheme
- 2x Earthquake
- 2x Giggling Inventor
Thx to all the feedback you guys gave on this deck so far, and if anyone else has more ideas please share them in the comment I'll be happy to talk with you about it !
---------------
Here's a gameplay video a fellow Shaman player posted on the thread if you're interested. He's take on the deck is slightly different but the core idea is the same :
Right I hear you buddy.
I am constructing my own control shaman deck, too. Maybe novice engineer is something I can consider, but I just don't like questing explorer. I mean if you don't draw her in your first 5-6 turns, it's two cards you have wasted essentially, which is really bad.
What are the odds of getting 1/2 questing explorers in your hand before turn 5 or 6? Not great I would say, even if you mulligan for it, it's 2 cards out of 30, which becomes useless after turn 5 or 6.. eh.. im not feeling it man, im just not.
Also ,you could consider bogslosher, which think it a good card that can bounce back powerful battlecry and give stats too.
Lastly, I would consider another heal option other than walking fountain. yes its great heal, but its 8 mana cost, slow, and it was anti-synergi with jepetto.
I am considering putting in witch brew, which is a very powerful heal.
Bog Slosher is an horrible card. Been playing Control Shaman for ever and I never liked this card. And it's not like the quest make it better. You never have time to pay 3 mana to sap your own minions.
Also as I explained before, Nimbus is way worse than Questing Explorer imo. Sandstorm Elemental looks great though, and is a serious consideration, but it entirely depends on how the meta looks like. If nobody is playing token decks and the meta is really value-oriented there's no point in running it.
And I have to disagree with your opinion on the Thunderhead package. Yes it's very good, but it doesn't go well with the deck. I'm not including it in my Control Shaman (Rise of Mechs patch) because it doesn't synergize with Hagatha's passive hero power at all. Also the spells (zaap and lightning bolt) are way too low value on their own, and bad/not worth unless you play them with Thunderhead. Which is not so easy. The same reasonning goes for this new deck : Thunderhead doesn't synergize with the HP, neither are the spells, and they're bad on their own. I really don't see any card of the deck that would be weaker and replaceable.
Thx for your feedback, but in my opinion Thunderhead package goes into a faster, more aggressive shaman quest build, not in a control one.
What about nightblade instead of the bomber it only does 3 damage but you don't have to have it shuffled so its instant damage with shudderwock
Well nightblade has a weaker statline, 4/4 instead of 5/5. Bomber can be doubled with an Elekk so it's 20 (delayed) damage instead of 6 with nightblade. And it can put duplicates inside a Highlander deck.
I can see the best version of this deck being a lot less controlly, without aoes gigglings etc and being full burn with nightblade. Maybe it's gonna be better and faster than this version. But bombs are way funnier for me :D and I prefer to play control.
Yeah that seems just as solid
If you want something in the same lines of Nightblade, I think Fire Elemental would be better. Better stat line and you can target minions with it. It doesn't automatically target the face on Shudder though.
What a fantastic Idea! I believe this will be one of the strongest decks out there for a while! I really feel like jepetto can straight up win you the game and of course, barista lynchen is going to be an absolute blast!! I don't feel like there is much to be changed b4 this becomes fully optimized, in my opinion, this could be played as is!
I made a video discussing the deck, I really hope you all enjoy :D
Thx a lot for your comment and for the time you put on that video ! Really glad to make it into a Kiwiinbacon video :D
I sure hope this deck will be good, or at least fun, and I hope people will still come here or on another similar tread to talk about this deck after the expansion comes out to discuss changes and how to improve it further.
This will be the most powerful deck in the new SoU meta. I can suggest:
-2xHagatha's Scheme -> Earthquake & Plague of Murlocs (For Giants & Lucentbark) is really sufficient.
-2xVulpera Scoundrel-> Discover Lackey does the same job but better with hero power , 2x weaponized wasp gives more tempo in this deck.
+2xEVIL Totem.
+2xWeaponized Wasp.
I think you nailed it. The more I think about it, the more I think Weaponized Wasp has to be in there. I mean, the card is already really good by itself, and it can either control the board early or help burning down the opponent late game. What I also like is that 6 damage really help dealing with mid-sized minions which are often a problem to remove efficiently in shaman (like let's say, an omega devastator !).
For the other 2 cards to cut to be able to slot in the Lackey Package, I definetly think it has to be from our late game cards. I'm still not sure if it needs to be Giggling, Fountain, one of the Aoes... Maybe one Scheme one Fountain ?
Anyway thx for the feedback, I think I just needed one more person to convince me about the Wasp to try to include it in the deck ^^ I'll change the decklist with -2 scheme for now and see if I put one back later and cut something else for it.
I'm glad to see you like the ideas. I think your deck needs more '5 mana or less cards' other than that it is really good.
-1 Giggling Inventor
-1 Walking Fountain
+1 Augmented Elekk to make regret highlanders more :D
+1 Hagatha Scheme one more precaution against Khadgar Conjurer's Call :D
Maybe in this state this deck can lose the battlecry shaman matches but matches rather than battlecry shaman seems like %80 win.
Normal Battlecry Shaman seems a bit faster then this type.
Yes a faster, more burnish quest shaman deck is probably going to do better overall on ladder I think. But I really wanted to keep a Control/Fatigue style of deck because it's what I enjoy playing the most ^^
At least one Hagatha's Scheme should maybe find its way back into the list indeed. I think I don't like 2nd Elekk though, seems too situational to be able to play both Bombers with Elekk. Wheter to cut one Giggling or one Fountain for the Scheme is gonna be decided by the meta I guess, but if battlecry/burn shaman is a thing, the healing of the Fountain might be better. On the other hand if there's a lot of damage coming through weapons or very big creatures (aka giants), Giggling might be better.
My heart tells me to keep 2 Foutains because it feels bad to die from burst when you're so close from stabilizing, but I think 2 Gigglings, to have a better chance to have at least one in the pool for the "turn 9 please save my ass" Shudderwock play is probably better.
edit : also wondering if Swampqueen Hagatha wouldn't be too slow for the deck. But then I imagined the situation where you get her with Jeppeto and double the battlecry... Seems pretty insane xD
would u suggest crafting Shudderwock? I mean to those who got him and used him for control/battlecry decks, is he a gamewinner or just nice to have that rarely secures a game?
Yes ! For over a year now he has been part of every shaman deck I ever played, and has always been very powerfull. Let's say, if you already played Hagatha a while ago, you won't refill your hand much because it will already be full ; in that case Shudder isn't incredible because he just create a board.
But I think it's very important to have both in case you don't draw Hagatha early ; then the value of the hand refill is really insane. Also against aggressive decks, if Shudder replays one or even two Gigglings it can give you a lot of time to try to stabilize back the board.
I think it's a safe craft that you won't regret until he rotates out of standard.
I have read the description, but generally I would play MCT instead of a copy of Giggling Inventor, but the idea is nice to my taste. Also, aren't 2x Earthquake too much? I feel 4 high cost mass removals are unnecessary. You could expand your early game strategy with a substitution.
Anyways, good job!
Yes you're maybe right ! It just feels like all you want is to survive long enough for your bombs to kill your opponent, and when you compare 4 damage flamestrike to 7 damage killing reborn earthquake, this spell looks pretty insane.
Problem is, it doesn't kill a wave of giants ^^
Would need some playtesting to see, but indeed cutting one Giggling and one Earthquake for more early game plays could be a good idea, given how heavy the deck already is. Or maybe it's the Fountains that are too much (maybe x1 ?) because they don't synergize with the quest and are awfull to draw with Jepetto.
Anyway thx for your feedback !
Remove both walking fountain -2. they are bad, and anti-synergy with the rest. There are alot of other heal options than these minions and they have 0 battlecry = bad
Elekk and question explorer is also a waste. I would go with storm chaser +1 and mana totem +1 instead
+1 king foresis
King foresis ? what's that ?
And I don't agree that Walking Fountains are bad. I expect a lot of people to play Mech Aggro Hunter the first week of the expansion : nobody will know what to play and this is a very good deck and a very punishing deck for unrefined strategies. Against that deck, not having Fountains is game over.
You say there are better option for healing, which ones ? I think Fountain is better than a doubled 3 heal from a battlecry minion. Sure they don't synergize with the HP (and very bad with Jeppeto) but well... I'm open to suggestions. Ofc if the meta is 0% aggro (which I doubt) I'll cut them.
Storm chaser can be a good option though, with 4 spells drawable, and the stat line isn't too bad. I also agree that I have doubts about questing explorer. The quest is probably going to be completed pretty fast most of the time and I'll never have both battlecries going off. But tbh, I really hate mana tide totem, in my opinion it's a very bad card. 3 mana draw one card not a battlecry 90% of the time.
King Pharosis, the 10 mana summon minion from spells... crazy good in control shaman. try it with big spells
Lifedrinker can heal you for 6 each, or just discover witch brew.
Plague of murlocs deal nicely with mech hunter btw.
I already have lifedrinkers ^^ And one plague of murlocs.
I don't think King would be good in this deck though. Even with 2 schemes and 2 earthquake.
