Total Deck Rating

This is the best deck I used on my climb to legend on EU. I ended up going 31-7 (82%WR) with an average game time of 9.1 minutes making the total time played 5.8 hours. I did this over two HS streams. I’ll link the VODs below.
VOD #1: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/401992080?t=00h04m55s
VOD #2 https://www.twitch.tv/videos/402486713?t=02h02m35s
This is a Tempo deck. You usually win through making huge tempo swings and hitting your opponent in the face a lot. Of course the dream is to get Keleseth out on curve and shadow step him a few times, but that’s not completely necessary.
Fire Fly -> Dagger -> Hench-Clan Thug -> Corpsetaker is plenty good to make your opponent sweat. You’ll usually be able to play on curve and it sometimes feels like the deck almost pilots itself.
Gral, the Shark performs exceptionally well when it eats anything that is 4+ mana and is only disappointing if it whiffs and hits something like your Fire Fly or your Edwin VanCleef. Yeah, it sucks when Gral, the Shark gets silenced, but there aren’t too many silences in the meta -- and if they’re silencing Gral, then they aren’t going to silence Edwin VanCleef (usually).
This deck is pretty expensive. I don’t recommend playing this version of the list if you’re missing some core Legendaries such as Captain Hooktusk or Prince Keleseth.
HOWEVER -- if you’re just missing a couple cards such as Gral, the Shark and Captain Greenskin then I would recommend replacing them with a couple Faldorei Striders and you could also consider some Elven Minstrels if you feel like you want more draw.
Obviously you want Prince Keleseth. If you do have him, also keep Shadowstep. Otherwise, you want to keep Fire Fly and Hench-Clan Thug.
If you start with coin, go ahead and keep Edwin VanCleef. If you think your opponent will be aggressive (MR Hunter, Zoo, etc.) then you’d be happy to keep a Backstab and a Tar Creeper.
If the rest of your hand looks pretty decent and curvy, then feel free to keep a Corpsetaker.
If you think your opponent might be very slow or have huge taunts such as Wall Priest or Evenlock go ahead and keep Vilespine Slayer if you’ve also got the coin.
If you know your opponent is going to be very slow and most of your hand looks great you can also keep Captain Hooktusk
Still got questions? Seeing it in action might be helpful. Check out my stream and this YouTube video! Feel free to drop by my stream and ask questions.
Before anyone tries this in Wild, it's not working, sorry.
LET'S TURN THIS WILD
Insane deck, I just went from Rank 4 1Star to Legend with 30-9 (77% WR). Thanks a lot m8!
This is obviously a troll, this deck is for standard - it has no chance in wild
You all got jebaited!!
6h from R1 5 Stars ?
how do you see that happening with 31-7?
Just a quick one, thanks for the upload. What is the purpose of Captain Greenskin here?
I also have this question lol....
I've played 21 times with this hand. I'm 5 for 21. It's too slow for aggro and doesn't have enough draw too counter board clears late. I don't know how you all are winning with it.
Five more games. Five more losses. Loses to warrior everytime. Loses to beast hunter as it's too slow. Loses to odd mage because it's too slow. Can't break through Mechathun Druid's armor. Can't beat odd rogue, too slow. All priest are a joke. You can't break through wall priest and with vargoth, you can't get through resurrection priest now. It's literally useless against half the classes.
The only thing it reliably beats is control decks and almost no one plays those between 5 and legendary. I haven't watched your video yet but I'd really like to know how you pulled this off.
This deck will move to wild in a few hours but i'll answer anyway.
Im not dekkster himself but i was doubting his winrate too till i gave the deck a second chance ;
Warriors, priests and odd paladins are a problem if they draw well and you dont. If you both draw well, your tempo will take over and you will win. Hooktusk gives an insane swing, she won me a ton of games. it clears the board, draws cards, give you 3-4 huge bodies, gets you your vinespines etc.
Aside from that, you got a 65% winrate against hunter. My score is 25-10, met a lot of hunters between ranks 200-100 yesterday and lost to some random bs like dire mole double KC on turn 7. Every other literally couldnt handle the threats. Corpsetaker forces him to trade and heals you in the process. Vinespine takes cares of hyenas and rhinos.
It's true that you generally dont have a draw engine outside of scalper and hooktusk (i added a mistrel because i didnt have the shark) but still i never felt i was left behind on board. If you got 2 fireflies on turn 7 and you play them both, you're asking to get screamed. Watch the video, dekkster made a really great deck and pilots it very well.
Another pirate, +1/+1 on the weapon helps thug, push damage and generally take board control. Good but not necessary.
I replaced Edwin VanCleef and Captain Greenskin with Southsea Captain x2. Definitely cheaper dust cost, and it seems to work better with Captain Hooktusk.
I play this deck for more than a month and I replaced Graal and Greenskin with 2 copies of Southsea Captains. Works great.
Do you ever get them as dead draws tho? For me it feels more like a 3/3 body but definetely if it hits hooktusk, you get huge value.
Well, if you draw some of your pirates, just play them on curve. If Captains remain on the board, rush pirates or Hooktusk herself can get a nice boost anyhow. Them or (double Shadowstep) Keleseth is enough to recruit a scary and unexpected board of pirates for the big swing.
I'll tell you the secret of this deck: It's all Hooktusk. You play Hooktusk - you win! Simple as that. According to statistics I won 86% of games when Hooktusk was played (on curve). Other stuff is just a distraction. Also, Shadowstep Leeroy is a nice unexpecting lethal. Lich King sometimes provides me with Army of the Dead. Never concede too early.
My winrate is 69 %. See, every deck gets better with experience. I don't do mistakes which I was doing earlier in the run any more, because now I know my deck, especially I know what to do with a bad riverse draw. People cry when matchuped with Hunter, but I have a very positive winrate against them. Sure, if they play Rexxar on curve and play nuts, you can't do much, but pray. Nobody can do much.
...Know when to use heal, guess opponent's next move, play around aoe's or bait them. This deck -can- win vs. Warrior, Priest and Odd Paladin. If you lose some, well you can't beat them all and just keep trying. I already reached rank 5 with this one, quite easy I must say.
But, the rotation is just around the corner. It will be interesting how the deck will be built for the new meta. We can merge this and myracle deck. Add Amalgams for Zylliax and healing - practically combining mechs and pirates. Or even combining pirates with burgle package. Raiding Party may become a staple.
It was mainly because it felt like I didn't have enough Pirates in my deck. Also, if you summoned Captain Greenskin from Captain Hooktusk, it seemed like it didn't do much for me. If you summon the Southsea Captain, it definitely combos with the other Pirates especially Ticket Scalper.
This is trash and loses to hunter and mage every time, there's no card draw and no way to avoid getting value traded. Even if you get double shadowstep on keleseth you wont get any cards to play cause you cant draw any. Hunter and mage outvalues and outtrades everything you've got. TRASH
Thank god we have you to protect us from this deck...
lmao he took it to legend, on stream, in under 7 hours. YOU are trash, my friend.
