Greetings! This is a theorycraft, so we're here to discuss and not to whine post-expansion release. Please keep that in mind before commenting.
I had the idea for this deck after seeing Thunderhead, which reminded me a lot of Flamewaker. Both can reverse the tempo in only one turn but in a different way. Since it summons two Spark, it means you can fill your board with many small bodies and profit of all Shaman token synergies.
Being able to play overload cards on the same turn as Thunderhead is sought for this archetype to be efficient. While Lightning Bolt has already been played a lot as a fast removal, Shaman also have Zap! and Beakered Lightning that are especially good in the deck thanks to their 0-mana cost, plus Voltaic Burst as an indirect removal. Getting back the board control should be an easy task, as making grow Unbound Elemental which can quickly become a problem for the enemy.
Most of those cheap spells (especially Beakered Lightning) have a nice synergy with spell power and that's why Bloodmage Thalnos and Kobold Hermit (thanks to Wrath of Air Totem) makes the cut. While the former must be the most played card of Hearthstone, the latter is especially interesting because it also has a token synergy, which is the second part of the deck.
Spark generated from Thunderhead or Voltaic Burst benefits a lot from attack boosts and Shaman excels at that with Flametongue Totem + Dire Wolf Alpha. Since a lot of them will be summoned, Knife Juggler add an extra oomph and because they have rush, Cult Master should provide instantly an insane amount of draw. Lastly, Fire Fly is the best Turn 1 option for that kind of gameplay since it's basically two bodies and it also helps with the weird overload curve.
Finally, Feral Spirit can activate overload-based effects but is also nice in a token perspective. It seems so easy to fill the board with small bodies that Bloodlust is an obvious finisher. A good setup for it is Primal Talisman, the same way Druid uses Soul of the Forest. That devastating combo can be enhanced by Electra Stormsurge, who can also activate twice overload effects or give more value to the cheap spells... which can be needed in the mid/late game.
Thanks for reading, don't hesitate to give your opinions if you think this deck could be improved.
Tl;dr: Reverse the tempo with Thunderhead, fill the board with Spark, end with Bloodlust.
how is this doing? I just need the 2nd thunderhead to run it.
Thunderhead, Voltaic Burst and a lot of minions and overload. I'd suggest Snowfury Giant and/or Sea Giant
With the amount of overload it seems a shame to not use the Snowgiant into spellstone combo
The amount isn't that huge since you don't play Overload 3 cards... It doesn't need that win condition either imo.
Hey man, I love the idea of Bloodlust Shaman this expansion and this build looks great. However, I am questioning a few of the choices included. Beakered Lightning, as well as the Spell Damage package, seems a bit sketchy, as it is counteractive to your own strategy of building a wide board fast. I would probably suggest taking that package out and replacing it with token creators/combos like Giggling Inventor, Fungalmancer, and maybe even Explodinator. To fit the faster nature of this build, I'd also consider changing one or two of the Lightning Bolts to Lava Burst for huge burst potential with Electra Stormsurge.
The version with my suggested changes is quite a bit more aggressive and therefore might be slightly less consistent, but I think it is more effective. Let me know what you think of these changes.
I think you underestimate the tempo gain Thunderhead will provide, Lightning Bolt is necessary. The "spell power" package you mention, well... Kobold Hermit is a token creator, you know? I just mentionned how good Spell Power was when you have cheap spells. It's like, two birds in one stone.
While I agree that Thunderhead is extremely powerful, I wouldn't bank on it with a fast aggro deck like this. Rather than devoting that many card slots to one card that you might not even draw by turn 4, I think it's more practical to have a broader gameplan with this package as a high-roll, so to speak. Lightning Bolt is strong and negotiable, but in my opinion Kobold Hermit is just too weak as a spell power generator and there are much better token cards out there.
You know that Beakered Lightning hits ALL minion though right? So it will wipe your tokens too.
Which isn't a problem when you want to clear a dangerous board, to be fair
Well, it would be a problem if Thunderhead procs before the AoE... but Blizzard isn't that stupid, right?
Excellent idea tbh to take advantage of your Spark. Working on it!
Nice theorycraft. I kinda dont like the Kobold Hermits, maybe The Storm Bringer or Fungalmancer hell even Dire Mole could do some work here.
Kobold Hermit is interesting because of two things :
- You can get a Wrath of Air Totem easily to combo with your cheap spells (especially Beakered Lightning)
- It's also a token deck and it gives two bodies.
I'm writing a guide at the moment, so check later for some more informations !
