Echo_ stop Hearthstone man. What you described is a 6/6. that has rush and -2atk on the turn it's played. Or if you want a 6/2 that deals 4dmg as a battlecry which twice the value you falsely mention by saying its a raw 6/2.
Peter Whalen confirmed on Twitter that if Darius dies, he does not get the +2/+2. Sorry Echo.
Whoops, my bad. I'll correct the original post.
This could have been actually good, but they still didn't print it. JUst one mana less or +1/+1 and it could have been a consideration. This shouldn't even be a legendary at this point.
+1
That card trades two cards of the opponent. It's not that bad. it's not just two, it's at least two. And it's still 5-mana. You can easily swing tempo with this. An anti-aggro, anti-midrange card.
Pretty interesting to combine it with Sudden Genesis.
Why is this a legendary?
'Unique effect' and well-known character from WoW.
The hidden gem of this card is it actually has effectively +1 health when attacking. Similar to how Finja, the Flying Star used to work with gaining health off of a pulled Murloc Warleader, Darius doesnt die if he would have 1 or more health AFTER gaining the +2/+2.
(They both are worded as "whenever this attacks and kills" which resolves before they would actually die.)
Captain Pestilence, are you sure of what you're saying ? I dusted my golden Boogeymonster a while ago ( :'( RIP best card in my collection) and can't find any footage or reliable proof of this anywhere as I was searching for like an hour yesterday. Have you got a source ?
If you have played a lot of Hearthstone and/or have seen all the Mythbusters from Hysteria you know that Hearthstone and theoretical rules of the game dont go together. There are plenty of edge cases that go against (official) hearthstone rules. Even cases that were mistaken from the rule and changed to be the mistake people thought before...
is supposed to work*. But sometimes they make hard changes on specific cases which bypass some rules. Again, its on really edge cases, and this one isn't really one, since if you were to use this card, this case is a non negligible one to consider and thus you are probably right. Moreover, i think i have a far away memory of thinking it would work and being shocked as it didnt but i'm really not sure.
Looks really meh to me... Could have been good if it could attack again when it kills a minion, like the hunter's 8/8 worm
Art's a little blurry.
Art's now less blurry. Yay.
Poor Garrosh
The effect of the card is specifically designed to be attacking minions not the face... Even if it had charge, you still don't want to attack face, you want to wait for an opportunity for it to kill a minion and survive on its playing turn.
Lol YOU don't get the purpose of this card. Let me say it again, you DONT want to play this card to attack face. You want to wait for the opportunity to buff it right away. "Period."
This card is a removal effect that can snowball out of control. Weakly yes, but still. And thus it belongs in Control and not in midrange which cant be greedy to hold on to a card more than a few turns before playing it. Man if you're thinking of this card as a midrange-only card from the beginning for some reason (which it would be a very bad card, even with charge), of course you're trying to make it a midrange card...
And for your last paragraph, while i could agree on some other cards, this card is simply the best example of the true Rush card in blizzard team's minds. Indeed : The Boogeymonster is similarly statted for its cost, and doesnt have charge. And i strongly believe they thought of giving it charge (its obvious) but thought it would then be too versatile, and eventually didnt give it a charge effect at all. Then when they made Rush, they realized it was actually the perfect rush card and even asked themselves why they didnt think about it. You'll notice the first rush-like minion appeared in Un'goro, one year later (the 7/7 dino). As of now, it was a perfect filler concept for a (boring) legendary in the set :).
Still waiting to they saying that the first translate was right.
My free woecleaver might see some play now with these rush minions
