Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty good card and i very much like it.
But i've read a handful of comments all saying this is something incredible with buffs, like a 5/5 for 4 mana with the +3 buff. All those people seem to have forgotten that Wickerflame Burnbristle already exist and is basically exactly this card, but with the effect already active, and divine shield instead of 3 health. If 2 heatlh + divine shield is weaker than 5 health against very small minions and pings, it is generally better in midgame with medium-sized minions (think 2 murlocs buffed by Murloc Warleader, 2 zoolock minions even like just 2 Blood Imp) and is also strictly better against a big drop. These pros and cons of each statline make the 2 cards on the same powerlevel IF Paragon of Light had the effect right away, which in fact makes burnbristle the best card. So all those buff shenanigans were all already possible with Wickerflame Burnbristle and control paladin is not even playing it anymore, and he has never proved to be hella broken with lots of buffs anyway, not even mentioning all those handbuffs that are here now and are going away.
So don't count on setting up a really big Paragon of Light, it will mostly just be played to be slightly buffed early and get a already bigass enough taunt on turn 3, 5 or 5. Even a simple tick of Sword of Justice makes it a Water Elemental DK-ed with thaunt for 3 mana which is insane in early game.
Yes I know that, how does it change the validity of my statement ?
You can protect Dire Wolf Alpha with it
Very good card, in my opinion. It has 5 heath, so it’s hard to remove on turn 3/4. Most of the time, it will survive turn 3/4, so you can play Blessing of Kings on curve and get 6/9 Taunt with Lifesteal. That’s insane.
People complaining about "handbuff cards rotating" can stop complaining, it's an aura effect, not a battlecry, so you can use another new Paladin card, Sound the Bells!, and voila! you have a taunt and lifesteal minion. If you really think about it, it's a 5 mana 3/7 (This card + Sound The Bells! = 5 mana, and Sound The Bells gives it +1/+2) with taunt and lifesteal, which is still some decent value.
Also the art is amazing.
5 mana 2 cards: 3/7 Taunt and Lifesteal
It's not wort it
Its a poor example. Bells is meant to be played more than once, there was a 1 drop spell that does the same exact thing, but only once.
7 mana (on turn 4) 6/9 with taunt and lifesteal from Blessing of Kings, on the other hand!
Its either gonna force a bad trade from the enemy (because they can't afford to let it get buffed), eat a removal/silence on a subpar target, or it gets buffed and you get at least one swing from it before it eats a removal/silence. And if it doesn't you control the board for at least the next 3 turns and probably heal to full in the process.
Even if its a weaker buff it's still either gonna be positive board value or removal bait
She has seen the power of the darkfallen and said to herself, "I can do better".
Anyone who said "dust it" is surely trolling, right?
Can't wait to see the actual Pally legendary tomorrow, I can't believe the number of people who believe the fake one to be real.
it is kinda premium 3-drop... you need to buff it, but then it is not all that hard in Paladin.
Wow has a lot of potential!
And guys just bc this isnt the legendary it doesnt prove that the "leaked" legendary is real. We'll have to wait for the reveal stream.
