Magma Rager isn't really a "good" card. It has its place in certain deck builds but it's by no means a good card. The fact that Ice Rager, the upgraded version, is only used in .07% of decks should be a dead give away. In fact, Magma Rager is still used more often than Ice Rager thanks to its synergy with cards like Steward of Darkshire. It's still barely used, anyways, at .13%.
In addition to the new expansion, it is probable for a new type as Elementals are quite common now, like water, frost, fire, earth, unbound, rumbling, twilight... and Ragnaros and Al Akir are also elemental lords there are enough cards to make a whole new type, but there can be more as we seen in GvG the whole set are mechs. May be another expansion will be related to Overwatch though, and not WoW.
It's really not power creep. Ice Rager is a Common, Magma Rager is a Basic. Common should be better than Basic. It's appropriate that they used this unplayable junk to illustrate the difference.
If some Basic cards are actually pretty strong (Chillwind Yeti) that's more of a design flaw of the Basic set.
Common is not better than basic, rarity doesn't mean power(Ahem fireball over warrior's 4 mana deal 4-6 damage depending on HP),but things like Dr. Boom and even the less common ones like Anodized Robo Cub > 2/2 2 mana taunt,Prophet Velen > Wargolem,Bash > Drain life etc etc.
Lol wut? The definition of power creep is that the new cards become better than the old cards.
Actually not. Power creep would be when the power level of cards becomes slowly higher, damaging the game. Making a slightly less shitty version of a shitty card is not power creep as the power level of the best cards still says the same regardless.

"Used in 0.01% of all decks"
This is just a bad joke, this and Evil Heckler are horrendous display of powercreep and lazy design.
Magma rager will not be pleased.
Surely the most obvious power creep of all time. They took a good card and made it OP. Well done blizzard.
