zoo mage confirmed
Why did they reprint Chromaggus as a 2 mana 2/2?
(If you can't tell I'm saying this in a joking tone of voice, I'm saying it in a joking tone of voice)
WUT IS DIS.
spiteful mage
One of the few Witchwood cards I will surely testing in my new TTK Exodia Mage build.
If Barumba is right (his quote is below) we will probably see new insane combos and strong plays (even 1 copy of Sorcerer's Apprentice for 0 mana can give birth to new amazing staff).
The copy added to your hand will get discounted by Leyline Manipulator
You can burst draw with Book of Specters
Archmage Arugal + Book of Specters for insane value when you're low in cards in hand.
Edit: As these are both even cost cards, you might even think about making an even cost deck with Genn Greymane
low enough mana cost to be combo-ed with other cards in the same turn. still seems really slow but could be good enough to see experimentation
Have the developers become lazy? What a terrible "expansion".
They are basically asking us to give them money for nothing. When people buy less packs due to these terrible cards maybe they will understand, only because their bottom line is affected. Personally, I won't buy a pack more than the pre-order.
Are they sure this isn't a Rogue card?
If it was meant for Rogue, it would cost 2-3 mana more and had some quirky combo conditions ;)
this card is actually pretty bad. it is a worse version of blood mage thalnos. it has 1 extra attack and health, but also costs 1 more mana. it does not liet you draw a card when you die or benefit immediately from spell damage. what it does do is allow you to play as many small 1 cost minions as possible during the turn it is summoned or 1 big legendary minion to have an extra copy next turn. it's primary use would really just to be to spam babbling book until end of turn to fill hand with spells. but even then, you will only ever get 6 babbling books in play and your hand would basically have to be completely empty in order to gt the 6 spells and 1 extra babbling book. i see no real practical use for this card. it has a theoritically good effect but in reality it is just an effect that targets it for hard removal and the low healthb basically ensures it doesn't see play for another turn. at most you will get either a really good minion to have an extra copy or you will be able to fill your empty hand with spells from babbling book or spam your board with 1 cost elementals. i suppose their are other 1 cost minions you could play. like you could spam servant of kalmios to make all your elementals in hand very cheap. i do not really see how this is going to be very practical card however. i just think it is a weak minion with a very deceptive effeect.
Are you on drugs?
Wow, that will be a cool looking golden card.
The thing I love about Blizzard pushing this minion-heavy Elemental Mage archetype is that Lesser Ruby Spellstone is now playable and can make up for the mage spells that are cut. The Elemental package for Mage was not good enough to build a deck around in which Lesser Ruby Spellstone can synergize well and actually be useful. Now, if you manage to get the most value you get 6 random mage spells (which can be discounted by Leyline Manipulator).
Mage = spells and I also love top-decking Pyroblast and blasting it in the face when I have no minions on the board that some Big Priest has 3 Yseras & The Lich King on and win the game. I know it's not what Elemental Mage is about and of course it is not guaranteed, but you can shoot 2 mana Fireballs in your opponent's face instead of worrying about the burn damage you have to give up as Mage. Even Freezing Potion can come in handy when you need to stall the game long enough so that you can play Frost Lich Jaina against faster decks sometimes.
Lesser Ruby Spellstone is not essential for the deck but very helping in terms of easy removal or as a means to close the game. (Oh, you have a Voidlord blocking my way to victory? Luckily I got this random Polymorph) So, I would be very sad if Lesser Ruby Spellstone got discarded by Book of Specters in a game.
I'm really looking forward to trying Elemental Mage as I have tried it before with high hopes and seen it fail in the meta. Actually, Frost Lich Jaina was the first DK I crafted for this purpose.
Yes you can fill your hand. Can also have good discount with Leyline Manipulator.
However a lucky hand is the only way to actually get some "speed", while elementals are really slow overall (except Blazecaller).
Lets count
you invest 2 mana 2/2 and 2 mana spell, so you behind the board like on ~2.5-3 mana
then you must play 4 mana 4/5 ( which is ok tempo wise ) to gain potential +6 mana speed.
Now on T5 you will be able to play 2 discounted minions at best so you will get +4 of actual speed.
So after appearing at -3 mana speed at T3 (with coin!) you are now (-3+4) at +1 mana at T5. WUT ??
Secret mage could appear at +6 mana speed at T3 with coin ( like T2: coin 4/3 + secret, T3: 4/3 + secret).
I have bad feeling that this minion-mage will be low tier deck.
I've learned to ignore my gut instincts when it comes to predicting how well a "new" deck type will be, because honestly, you never know.
Book of Specters just got from playable to meta - defining :D
People are talking about minion mage (lul) yet I think this is a straight up control card for elemental and big mage. Potentially getting copies of Pyros, sindragosa, Alana and in wild Reno, Kazakus, N'zoth is all pretty sweet.
Also I think this has some application for OTK decks, I dunno what that may be but I think this could be a way to get combo pieces faster or build a combo that doesn't already exist.
