Blizzard announced a server-side hotfix with a Jailer temporary ban, Battlegrounds updates, and bug fixes. This patch will be deployed later today.
Quote from BlizzardPatch 27.4.3 is a server-side hotfix patch rolling out today with the following updates and bug fixes.
Hearthstone Update
- The Jailer has been temporarily banned from Standard and Wild.
Dev Comment: We’re putting The Jailer in jail for his crimes against the meta. When we made our last set of changes, Druid was still developing as a class following the Mini-Set. After our changes were locked in, Tony Druid appeared as a top archetype in Standard. We know that we want to adjust something in that deck in our next balance window, and we also know we don’t want this deck to warp the meta in the meantime, so we’re temporarily banning The Jailer until our next scheduled balance patch.
The Jailer will be released on bail (unbanned) in our next scheduled balance patch. At that time, we’ll make other adjustments to address Tony Druid and anything else that needs tweaking.
Battlegrounds Updates
The following heroes have been banned from the following Anomalies:
- Golganneth’s Tempest: The Rat King
- Gladiator’s Spoils: Fungalmancer Flurgl, Infinite Toki, Maiev Shadowsong, Onyxia, Patches the Pirate, and Vanndar Stormpike
Bug Fixes and Game Improvements
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Sinister Soulcage could target enemy Undead minions.
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Sif’s cost was not reduced by Primordial Studies.
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a visual bug with Kabal Lackey’s updated effect.
- [Duels] Removed Elixir of Vigor from the Passive Treasure pool due to an unintended interaction.
- [Duels] Fixed a bug where Remembrance of Ice would resurrect minions killed by opponents’ Frost spells as well as yours.
- [Duels] Fixed a bug where Optimized Polarity would trigger off certain Magnetic Mechs.
- [Events] Fixed a bug where the “Alone in the Dark” event quest was triggering based on when a friendly Titan was destroyed, instead of when you destroyed a Titan.
This game is a bad joke! Blizzard was supposed to give it away as soon as they nerfed the jailer and this company didn't do it!!
That the wild meta doesn't revolve around yogg. The card feels much more impactful in standard for sure. I do agree that the card is still a problem, though - the ability to make it 0 mana and especially that it stays 0 mana upon bounce/copy effects is questionable. I also would have preferred the abilities be more RNG based because the consistency of "fuck big minions" (mind control) and "fuck your board" (hysteria) are actually STRONGER effects than random bullshit. I'd prefer the mind control to be replaced by a classic yogg spell-spam option honestly, because right now yogg is a swiss army knife that no board is safe against. Probably make it unable to be reduced below 5 mana, too.
So happy about this hotfix. Jailer is in jail, marvelous!
Haven't seen Jailer in high ranks of standard for last 6 months, while I'm playing 30-50 games a day.
Or maybe I'm burning this druid bastards too fast?! )))
Even shaman, pirate rogue, secret mage, discolock, the most prevalent decks in wild right now. None use yogg?
your point being?
Jailer go Jail Buhahah
damm no refund dust
They are missing it again. Druid plays free or damn near free Yogg to reset the opponents board before the Tony jailer shenanigans. Tony and jailer have been in standard now for a while and Druid is the only class to really use them. Is it because the combo together is good? No. Is it because Druid takes advantage of a third card to make the combo good? Exactly. First it was Anub, then after that giant nerf, it’s Yogg. There will be more meta warping decks like tony druid without yogg nerfs. Seeing that the mini set was yogg themed and had a diamond yogg in it though… nerfs aren’t coming any time soon.
Jailer was printed a year ago and yogg is in the latest mini-set, so it's obvious which one bli$$ard would ban. Furthermore, yogg shapes not only standard but also wild meta right now, it's the card the game revolves around.
I'm 100% sure they will raise his cost to 20 soon(tm) to make room for non-yogg decks, but currently it's the most important card in HS to have.
you are right, but the problem its not yogg! every deck have yogg ATM... and its fine you need to play against dat...
the problem of druid it is the same every time since early expansions... the hardcore ramp and now because of this card Embrace of Nature they have a way to play at 4 turn, Nourish they ramp and draw 3 cards and have 2 mana that turn, i have seen in live streams (pro players//pro streamers) at turn 5/6 they have 10 mana and the combo ready with all their deck already in hands with 3/4 cards left on deck... there is no way to fight that... you have a turn 5 Brawl in Warrior, you have at turn 7 Anachronos in Paladin... you have some counters!! but i mean, you're supposed to be lucky to have a chance of winning a game??? and do not forget it you're at turn 6/7 normally when that happens...
i don't now but i really feel like the problem of druid its allways the ramp because in no other classe you see that combo of Jailer...
That jailer card is really frustating to play against.
Should be Bolf Ramshield the problem as well as Mal'Ganis due to becomming inmortal?
Unless Tony, King of Piracy and King Togwaggle would be the true problem about destroying opponents decks on same turn, I agree with the reasonable, but for now It's been almos 1 year 1 months after Maw and Disorder released, it's totally ridiculous a ban after long time ...
Never in a million years would I have expected Bolf Ramshield to ever be identified as problematic
Yes, it is curious how people when knew the existence of The Jailer back in the day, mostly of memes combos redirected to this minion, but the situation about swaping decks (like it was did Mindrender Illucia before his murdering change) has becoming into a true problematic thing
If they nerf Dew Process / Naturalize and Guff, Wild will be totally playable again.
The last time they didn't do nerfs and respond to the meta, several employees got fired.
I hope the devs do nerf in a timely manner this time.
Otherwise, the hammer is going to come down again and lots of them are going to lose their jobs.
So I hoped they learned their lesson, but history says it takes 2 waves of firings to get results so ...
How can you know if they got fired? Blizzard HQ has been a revolving door for ages now. Every several months some big names leave, to the point where I have no clue who the latest "big names" are.
Yeah yeah employees got fired because of not balancing an inherently imbalanced format /sarcasm
I think The Jailer needs to be reworked to be less extreme, because right now you either play him and just win because the opponent can do nothing, or you play him and instantly lose because the opponent has removal like Whirlpool or you're too low health.
I think it would be cool if he didn't delete your deck, but maybe made your minions immune for just 3 turns. That way it's still a very strong finisher (as it should be at 10 mana), but it's possible to outlast it for more deck, and also more decks can run the card because the penalty isn't as harsh.
Yes, exactly this!
Immunity for the rest of the game is just too much. It removes way too many interactions so only extreme ones remain. Once played it basically almost always ends the game immediately. Either you win if you have that perfect answer or more often the Jailer wins.
I didn't see him often but when I did I knew that I should just concede. I don't care about winning so much and simply that card without anything else makes the game so much more boring and un-fun. This sort of power level would even be too much for like "treasure" cards you can only randomly get or discover with huge setups like Kazakusan IMO.
I'm positively surprised they're actually reevaluating the card right now. And something like only 3 turns and no deck destruction sounds good. Right now the only thing but for the rest of the game is to go face. But if it's just temporary then it's just some "change of pace". Most importantly it prevents things like they drop Bolf Ramshield and without the perfect answer they actually managed to become completely invincible - for the rest of the game! Seriously, that sort of power level would even be too much for crazy "treasure" type of cards generated by elaborate means.
