I was actually looking forward to it, while hoping it's not just a gacha game as some people speculate. And to be honest, that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Part of the reason why I was looking forward to Mercenaries is that Battlegrounds has really become stale. There were so few meaningful updates this year, Quillboars aside, and several issues have still not been addressed at all. Instead of doing some big experiments or events like Darkmoon Prizes, it's just been microadjustments with adding/removing one or two heroes and minor card changes for months.
Also, what happened to "seasonal events"? Midsummer Fire Festival should come up soon, I guess, but no Taverns of Time, Frost Festival or something similar. I might be mistaken, but I think there have been 0 legendary quests since Winter's Veil, not even something promotional for Barrens or Wailing Caverns. Tavern Brawl has been repeats for how many months now? Has Duels seen major updates since Darkmoon, new card sets for deckbuilding and a few new passives aside?
I get that they are working on many different things right now and that all takes time and effort. But lately, it feels like half the game is just running on "business as usual", and It's not very exciting,
Oh well... looking forward to the new expansion regardless. Even though I'm out pretty much out of Standard since Scholomance, I'm always curious about new cards.

-2 Magehunter
-1 Fel Summoner (This feels weird to cut but it just hasn't impressed me as much as Raging Felscreamer & Pit Commander)
-1 Glide (Lowered the curve overall and cut some outcasts, so this isn't as needed)
-1 Kurtrus Ashfallen (This also feels weird to cut, but I added in so much AoE he's not needed)
-1 Skull of Gul'dan
-2 Priestess of Fury (this feels so bad to pull vs the others)
+2 Chaos Strike
+1 Manafeeder Panthara
+2 Immolation Aura
+2 Chaos Nova (this has helped A LOT)
+1 Shadow Hunter Vol'jin (more versatile than Fel Summoner)
I've had mixed results with both versions so far, but the matches have felt very close barring a druid match I had that that was laughably bad. There's definitely something here and it's a lot of fun at the least! -

Playing this onto an active board and trading efficiently into your opponents minions lets you buff up your whole board! I'm really hoping that the battlefield matters more this season, that way aggro feels more fair and midrange has more options.

The friendly minions don't even have to attack an enemy MINION and survive; they can attack face and they STILL get the buff. When you play this, every minion already on board that can attack +any rush minions you play will be buffed, including Rokara herself. Playing a 1 drop into a 2 drop into this which then buffs your earlier minions is great tempo. Tempo = good. This seems quite good.

Currently 11/0 with it, played vs a mirror that even ran School Teacher that you're curious about slotting, It didn't work out well for him as he just lost tempo, I guess it works out vs aggro but not a tempo/slower deck

Honestly enjoying this deck too much, 5/2 rn, swapped Kel for Abominable Lieutenant and he didn't fail me a single time.

Meta is really okay for me so far, I've been messing around with the demon hunter quest and I modified it a lot I ended up putting it in an OTK list, I usually have quest finished by turn 6, otk by 7~8 if I don't get bursted down by a mage, I mean even mages let you play cards now instead of spending 2 minutes in their turn refilling their mana, quest kinda changes their priorities which gives me time, Rogue quest wasn't too bad of a matchup for me, managed to survive till I drew my whole deck (turn 9) and won the game. Didn't really see more than these 2, oh and a paladin, kinda gave me a feeling that paladin needs a slight buff.

Garona got like 13 attack weapon by the end and she had every buff in her hand, literally had 10 attack on like 9 mana and she was going face like some KB rogue before the nerfs, On Octobot I got really lucky and got seance off a renew, used it on tavish and was clearing his tentacles every turn. But I passed them all on 1st try thankfully, wasted like 40 mins for a rare though.

I tried this a couple of games in rankeds around 10 or so, I managed to win vs some control decks and all my aggro matchups were a win, Mostly cause I drew nicely but I adjusted the deck some, It's still fun to play! kinda viable if you ask me.

Tempted to add zephyr's and DQA even with the copies in deck cause you ramp fast/draw fast so you will most likely have them active.
