My final piece of advice would be to save all of your dust, and only craft legendarys with it. (An occasional epic if your deck really needs it.)

I don't think you should be hoarding dust for legendary cards if you don't have a complete competitive deck (excluding legendaries) yet of your class. For example, a good shaman deck with the key class cards and good synergy but no Al Akir is better than a deck with 29 random junky cards and 1 legendary.

While I agree on a general level, I suppose I should have been more precise. What I often see is people not sure what they want to play, or they change their mind after a while. There are key cards that every deck can make use of, cards like Sunwalker, Harvest Golem, Faceless, etc, but more often then not they end up making several cards that aren't widely good, and because you have a good chance of getting them in packs, end up having to dust them at a significant loss. Legendaries are rare, and most of them very useful, not as likely to have to be dusted after only a couple weeks... therefore you fill your collection out faster and with less dust.

If you know what you like, and a deck you want to build, go for it. Do what you need to do to make it work, just don't try to partially build 4 different mediocre decks. Great starting, lower cost decks are Zoo, Hunter, and even Priest (though slightly more expensive).

Point is, Arena is your best bet. Its fair for the most part and is easily the best way to build your collection. Read some guides and look at minion tier lists to help you start.

If your as limited on cards as you suggest. I think you should be quite happy with a rank around 10. When you finally start getting more rare/epics/legendarys you should be able to progress further. In that range is where you encounter several problems, first being their cards. This game has been out for a while, so many people will have a bigger selection than you. Second problem, is that in the 15-5 ranks you will come across a large majority of Hunter and Zoo aggro decks. Either build a deck to counter that, or... (I hate suggesting this) do the same.

As for casual, there is supposedly some sort of ranking system, but it's not always spot on.

If your having problems progressing, the 3 best options are A) Buy packs with money, B) Spend all your gold on Arena and try for 6-7 wins+, C) Buy or Spend gold on Naxx cards, there are many very good cards for relatively cheap. I suggest buying Naxx ASAP, then Arena. If you can get 6-7 wins on average you should break about even and keep re-entering for more card packs.

My final piece of advice would be to save all of your dust, and only craft legendarys with it. (An occasional epic if your deck really needs it.)

Edit: And Check this out: http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/blog/15955974/hearthside-chat-youre-better-than-you-think-9-18-2014?utm_expid=68589644-24.yOgsCsWhSz-gOSDIbl82Wg.0&utm_referrer=https://www.google.com/

If your around rank 10, your in the top 8% of all players, that's not bad for being new and not having cards. That should make you feel a little better.

120+ new cards are being released soon too, so don't try to make any specific decks, in about 2 weeks everything is going to be different and what may be good now, may not be then.

posted a message on What the future hold for Priest.

With the 2 new minions Shrinkmeister and RecombobulatorShadow Madness and Cabal Shadow Priest will become more than just situational. It will give you the option to take any 4-5 health minion and not just trade it, but make it your own/heal it. I think that's what he was talking about. Currently its nice, but running 2 Cabal's are generally better because you get a strong body with it.

I'm just really surprised since we have only seen 2 regulars and 1 rare, we still have (possibly) 1 more rare, 2 epics, and 1 legendary to see (If the leak turns out to be true/false.) Though the mech minion is nice, its essentially like Dark Cultist... Which you can try to setup to get effect from his deathrattle, but it doesn't happen consistently enough.

The biggest change for the Priest will be that if the meta does shy away from control that the Priest hero power will not have the same effect on smaller lower health minions and the effective trades you can make. High health minions like the Spider Tank could become very important for the class. We might even see Shadow Form become usable in some way, with possible less reliance on Thoughtsteal.

Regardless, any change will be welcome.

posted a message on What the future hold for Priest.

First let me start off by saying that the current state of Priest is my favorite of any other Class/Decks. I almost exclusively play Control Priest. I have been playing hearthstone for just over 4 months now and have my golden portrait and Legend Rank. The diversity of spells and minions, combined with the numerous options, Priest has the ability to have a high skill cap.

By looking at the soon to be released cards for GvG, its starting to become a little more clear what we can expect from the upcoming changes to the meta. Overall, I see many new solid mid-game options, along with some very strong early game minions (I'm looking at you Mechwarper), and not as many slower cards aside from some Hunter releases.

I see the game shifting away from the heavy split between Control vs Aggro and settling somewhere in the mid-range. Which, for me... I like the slower chess like matches so I am a bit worried. On the upside, if that does end up happening, I see the priest actually becoming much stronger as a class. Especially due to the Shrinkmeister, with more midrange targets I can see running a much lower mana curve with combinations of 2x Shadow Madness, 2x Cabal, 2x Smite, 2x SW:P, and even probably Recombobulator.

This is just my thoughts on one of numerous possibilities, we are going to see a meta shift 3x more violent than Naxx provided. At this early stage its impossible to say.

    TL:DR

What are your opinions on what to expect in regards to how the Priest will fit into the new scheme of things?

posted a message on Has Blizzard outlined any specific goals with Hearthstone?

The only solid plans I've heard from Blizzard about Hearthstone is that they plan one card expansion per year, and in between those expansions one dungeon like Naxx. No additional info about what the next dungeon will be.

So next major update after GvG is probably 6-8 months away. I'm sure they will keep releasing different card backs and doing small balance changes in the mean time.

Edit: Blizzard still hasn't said exactly when GvG will be released yet. Most people are guessing mid December, and that seems like a good guess seeing as this is the last of the voting. And WoW is releasing new content at start of December so they probably won't release two major contents on top of each other.

See what you think about this mage build. I played it at Legend and had good success and alot of fun. I'm not sure how well it does below Legend with all the extra Aggro decks, but when I did face them it did well. Also note that this isn't my build, click the title to go to the authors title page.

posted a message on I need help perfecting my deck

I really think you should add in one Reincarnate. It pairs so well with Sylvanas and Al'akir and does give you a better match vs control and aggro. Including one reduces the chance of being a dead card and hopefully by the time you've found Sylvanas or Al'akir you've come across it or will soon. It also isn't restricted to them, usable on any minion really, especially after a trade as a sort of 'heal'. Another semi-useful use, is that it can act as a sorta silence for any creature buffed up. I have had great success running one.

Edit: Miss read, looked at the deck someone else posted, your does run one Reincarnate. Still leaving the post for any others that might read.

posted a message on Just opened golden Nozdormu.....advice

I got a regular, and before I dusted him played about 15 games. There was this one miracle rogue, had 10 cards and tried to empty his full hand, was so funny he got so panicked after he dropped his auctioneer trying to play cards too fast, he prepped his prep, + numerous other failures. lol. Aside from that, he doesn't have the greatest body, dust is the best use.

In an odd way, he should actually be good right after GVG launch. People with new cards could become flustered and make bad moves with only 15 seconds. But for all intents and purposes, the dust is better.

When I first started (I'm mostly F2P, I've maybe spend 60$) I dusted most goldens that I already has 2x of. But now my collection is about 85% complete, I try to save them. Mostly just dusting (sadly) the Legendarys, trying to make the last 4 I'm missing.

posted a message on This game is only about matchup and luck of the draw... Zzzz

If your saying that, I'm guessing you haven't watched any tournament matches. I watched all of Blizzcon from 32 down to 1, and I can say for sure, many several times the person who had the worst matchup was able to pull off wins, time and time again.

This happens all the time in game on a daily basis. My guess is you lack forethought and creativity to use not only your cards, but also what they have, and could have, against them.

Yes, certain decks are better vs others. But with all the hundreds of billions of combinations and sequences, it's never 'just' about the matchup and luck of the draw.

Guess not, confirmed by ben brode:

How does Steamwheedle work if facelessed/thoughtstole? (Give minons 2 armor? Do 2 dmg to a minion, draw a card?)
    Only works with hunter

That's a little disappointing, life tapping and armor on minions would be very interesting.

If this gets stolen, does it's text get negated, or does the text then apply to the new hero controlling this minion?  For example, If I'm playing Warrior, and I steal Steamwheedle Sniper with Mind Control Tech, can I then target minions with Armor Up?

Of course. And you can also Life Tap HP from your minions instead of hero, spawn paladin tokens for enemy and ping minions with the mage through inception deathrattle, e.g. kill Harvest Golem's token before actually killing Harvest Golem itself ;D

    Don't be silly, that's one-class card.

Don't be too hasty to say that. Prophet Velen taken by another class causes the Mage hero power to deal 2 damage, and Warlocks take twice as much damage but still only draw one card, Hunter also deals 4 damage to the enemy hero. I'm guessing this might work with some of them.

I'm really looking forward to Control hunter, but I'm also terrified how inadvertently these cards will effect Aggro/Facehunter.

posted a message on Is GvG killing off shaman as a class?

I'm sure it not a real consolation, but Whirling Zap-o-matic is pretty damn good. No overload too, it will hurt when it can hit face. Not to mention rockbiter and flamtongue. Still plenty more to be released, don't get too down about how hunters just got a better Reincarnate (=P Only joking, sorta...).
