Let's compare that to Hearthstone. $70 for 67 prepurchase packs. Say you saved up 5000 gold from quests and arena over the course of Boomsday. That's another 50 packs. So 117. That'll get you about 6 legendaries, including the gifted one, and most of the rares. You've still got a long way to go if you want to get all the legendaries. Still got 17 legendaries to go. Let's be very generous and say you get one in every 25 packs. You've gotta open 425 packs. But let's say 375 and you're able to craft the last two and extra epics from all the dust from so many packs.

All that's gonna cost you an extra $400, for a total of $470 to get the whole expansion. Even if you chop a third off of that it's about the same as Artifact's $300 for every card in an expansion. If you're talking about completing a set Hearthstone is expensive (even more so if you're grinding for gold, spending time instead of money) and you're just plain wrong if you think it's more expensive to do it in Artifact.

Collecting all cards is quite expensive in hearthstone. Collecting all cards from the expansion requires something like 350 packs and this is a hefty sum of money.

But most people aren't interested in full collections. They want decent+ cards. And here comes the difference. From that $300 to get all cards in artifact game majority of price goes to viable cards. In Hearthstone worst legendary and best legendary have the same cost.

And, please, stop this - "F2P is more expensive because you are spending your time" bullshit. This is only true if you are doing something for grinding the gold without having fun and I pity anyone wjo does that, if they have computers with internet access, they can get better hourly rate in $ whenever they live. And it will be a more entertaining way to get packs.

There are three types of decks.  Only one group of players comes here to make threads on the forums to bitch about how they 'should' have won. This thread is a classic example.   Look at the poll, it sums up the mentality perfectly.  Fragile ego and overinflated sense of self-importance.  Playing control doesn't mean you are a good player - sorry, but just a fact.

Actually, many complainers aren't playing real control.

They are playing GREEDY anti-control decks and hope to have easy wins against players who play normal control\slowish midrange decks. And when they get those easy wins they consider themselves skillful players, when they get deserved losses it is because "their opponents play mindless decks"

You need to add the third option in the poll: Players that play greedy slow decks and complain about everything that counters that kind of "skillful" strategy.

Battlecry:  Guarantee your opponent Overkill synergy and gain 1 hp.  Yeah that sounds like a good deal.

You are unfair! gain 3HP!!! (unless killed by an overkill spell)

I mean you can kill an Aluneth if you want, so.

    SeemsGood.

What are they doing for the rotation though? Another set of legendary weapons or some sort of placeholder?

It doesn't give weapons from your opponent's class. It gives non-rogue weapons.

Slowly, but it is possible to grind even without money.

It is simply untrue. Unlike hearthstone arenas drafts in Artifact are MMred, that means your winrate will always be around 50% . With 2.5 wins on average you'll run out of tickets very, very fast and will get less cards than by simply buying decks instead of buying tickets

And please think of games like Counter-Strike or EVE online... People are willing to pay a lot, so, why not artifact? Richard Garfield created it, he also created MTG... I think they will be balance and I also think it will be a decent game with a decent community. They paid a lot of famous streamers to advertise their product, this streamers have a lot Sheeople following them, if only 1/10 is payin 20$ everything is fine and it will be, I promise. :*

Look, Artifact is a quite new game with many sponsored streamers playing it and right now (Europe evening) they have 8k viewers on twitch. It is nothing. Even MTGa has more with 12k.

Can they get some playerbase who will pay money for it? Sure. Absolutely. Steam client is a powerful thing. But I see no reason to believe that they'll have a large playerbase  close to Hearthstone or Valve's own top games.

He'll be surprised when he'll find that almost all his cards are worth almost nothing (you need how many cards to recycle them into a $1 ticket? 20? Then worst cards will cost something like $0.04)
