Could anyone have a look, please? It took me an hour to write, I would be really upset if it all got lost...

DarkDenius posted a message on Sylvanas WindrunnerPosted in: Sylvanas WindrunnerHello there! I've finally got time and desire for another Legendary review, so now it's time for Sylvanas Windrunner observation.
Usual Backstory: When I started playing HS, and when i had enough dust to craft a legendary(honestly, it was pretty soon, as I got Golden Skycap'n Kragg), i was looking for what should i make. Whoever I asked told me that i should craft Dr. Boom with no doubt, but i felt that something was unclear. So i decided to craft Sylvanas Windrunner instead, because her effect was really unique and tide-turning. She seemed such a pain in butt for me. So this was my first crafted legendary. After WOG was announced and Dr. Boom left his Throne-Of-Being-The-Coolest-Top-Tier-Legendary, she took his place. Currently it's a top-1 legendary, and i guess, Sylvy is gonna hold this point for very long, if not eternal, time.
Her effect and role make Sylvanas Windrunner a very unpleasant minion to face. Because you either bump every minion into her in correct order to prevent stealing, or you should spend silence/enroot-typed effect(like Polymorph or Entomb). Otherwise she may steal something really big and it will be your headache. As somebody here's said, she's not a game winner, she's a game changer.
Let's take a look on her advantages:
First of all, It's a 5/5 for 6 mana. Pretty solid body, and her "lack of stats" usually comes really handy. If your opponent has very huge creature on his board and you drop Sylvanas Windrunner, the minion is gonna survive and be stolen. You may somehow reduce the damage done to the minion to prevent deep scratches.
Second, she has a lot of roles in matches. One of them is dropping her when your opponent has several minions. Even if he runs all his creatures into her, that's fine. Because, you basically cleared his current board for 6 mana. If she steals anything, that's good. Even a small minion becomes a thorn in your opponent's finger, not in yours.
If your opponent has several huge minions, Sylvanas Windrunner has a great chance of stealing something worthy.
Another role is being a combo-tech in control decks. You can use her in combo with stuff like Naturalize, Power Overwhelming, Fireball, Mulch, Shadowflame and so on to execute 7-10 mana random Mind Control. If your opponent played 1 giant or powerful minion, you gonna take him. Or clear what you can and just pray for RNGeezus. I personally had numerous times when i stole Ysera, Archmage Antonidas, Tirion Fordring and a bunch of other cool minions just with such comboes. What is more, you can taunt her with stuff like Defender of Argus and it's gonna save you from monstrosities like Deathwing, The Ancient One(if you meet one, heh), boarded C'Thun and so on.
If you drop Sylvanas Windrunner on the empty enemy board, you just lock your opponent down from playing powerful stuff, untill he finds a removal for her. I was in such situations, and belive me, its terrible. If you dont play your stuff - it's bad. if you do - it's even worse. Not always you have a removal for her, so you have to sacrifice something to get rid of that nightmare.
I have to add that she is a great Anti-C'Thun tech. If you expect your opponent to play THe Old god, drop her in advance. If C'Thun kills her with battlcery, you are fine. Unless he kills you as well. Or if you survive him ,you can above written combos to take him under your wing.
Keep in mind that she screws Yogg Saron, hope's end's entrance, because after he kills her somehow and gets stolen, you get all the upcoming effects, like, if Yogg plays Sprint after he comes into your board, you draw cards. SOmetimes it can even kill you with overdraw, but this is regular Saron's stuff.Just keep it in mind.
What is more, you must know that if a minion kills her with his battlecry, she will steal it. Order "Battlecry-comes-before-minion-enters-play" doesn't work in that case. Be very careful with stuff like Deathwing, Rend Blackhand and already announced old gods.
Sylvanas Windrunner counters Ragnaros the Firelord badly. Because if you see them on the opposite sides of board, you can be 85% sure that Rag will move on the opposite side. He loves Sylvy. His effect will most likely to hit her no matter what, and she will steal him no matter what. This is just one-sided RNG scenario. If he doest kill her with ability, she will just kiss him and steal.
Mainly Sylvanas Windrunner is used in a lot of decks, but nowadays mostly benefits from N'Zoth, the Corruptor or other deathrattle-oriented decks. So you have to deal with her twice. Very unpleasant, because if you start building board, and enemy resurrects her, you should either clear your own board and her, or add another minion to your opponent's already mighty board.
Another important thing is Sylvanas Windrunner versus enemy enemy's Windrunner. Keep in mind, that the second sylvanas played counters the first one. IF you have a minion of the board, then you play your Sylvanas first, and then your opponent does so, and you run your Banshee Queen into hostile's, your deathrattle triggers first, steals nothing, and then enemy's deathrattle steals your creature. Even if your enemy has that creature (i mean, before contacting 2 sylvanas) instead of you, it will work a bit different, but with the same outcome. Becuse if Sylvas hit each other, your one steals the creature, and then his Sylvanas steals the stolen minion back. Im reminding, SECOND Sylavans Windrunner counters the first one. Dont forget. Even tournament players sometimes do such mistake.
To tie things together, i would like to say that I give Sylvanas Windrunner the first place of Neutral Legendaries. She is very flexible and useful, and fits like 90% of decks, except zoo and aggro. And still can be used there for screwing your opponent up. If you want to craft a legendary, and you choose from several, take a look wether you have Her or not. If you dont - craft her with no doubt. Sylvanas Windrunner is from Expert Set, so she will never cycle out of Standart and will always be like in Top 1-5 list. Never dust her for any reason.
P.S. This is very unique card, so if i miss some stuf in my review, dont be scared of writting about that bellow, i will include this into my "essay". It's hard to keep in mind all the aspects of that card.

As someone trying to get back into HS after a few months (and two expansions) away, this deck was very helpful. Thanks, mate!

Let me throw in my 2 cents, if you don't mind: I believe those changes would slow down the deck, and potentially put you in a few difficult situations.
This deck, unlike traditional Evo lists, is built more aggressively, so the idea is to evolve your minions quickly, instead of waiting for a full board to benefit from the spell. Notice the single Bloodlust: you will most likely have few, powerful minions on the board, instead of many, average ones.
Sea Giant would only see play in two situations: when you have a full board, or at the end game (which you, ideally, won't reach). It is also past the cost of your DK, meaning you'd either have to hold it to avoid a tempo play, or simply use it for the sheer size and hope to still have it on the board to evolve on the next turn.
Bonemare, on the other hand, gives you some breathing room should you reach turn 7 (or 6, with coin) and still not have managed to set up some lethal, as it has two effects: adding a 7 drop to the table and creating at the very least a 5/5 taunt to protect you from whatever bruiser may be thrown your way. That's two strong bodies on the table with a single card.
AlthoughStonehill Defender is a strong card, its biggest advantage is the extra taunt, which you most likely won't be able to play until the next turn. That costs you precious time, as you rely on creating strong minions as fast as possible for yourself. And dropping one Devolve [/card]could get you in trouble in the midgame, when you're moving in for the kill, as it would leave you with one single card (your other [card]Devolve) to act as a "removal", should your opponent attempt to block you with some tough minions of his own.
Just an opinion, of course. If you do try your changes, let us know how things went!

As a general rule, Patches will end up being a part of a larger number of decks, since it s a Neutral Pirate. Aya is a stronger card, and is crucial for Jade decks, but those cannot be played by any class.
If I were you, I would craft Patches first. But don't neglect Aya, she's a great addition to your decks, you'll want to craft her as soon as possíble.

For Brazilians:
This is how I managed to get Twitch Prime Trial to work in Brazil, without an US credit card and confirmed address, and without using any illegal or shady methods that could get you in trouble. It is actually pretty easy. It may work for other countries too, I have no idea. Let me know if it does, it may help others.
A few considerations, first:
1 - Don't try using Amazon Prime, or Amazon Prime Trials, which you may have for a US based Amazon account. Amazon doesn't verify credit card billing addresses, but Twitch does, so unless you have a credit card issued in the US and whose billing address is also in the US, it will not work.
2 - Unlike Amazon Prime, Twitch Prime is available pretty much worldwide. So you do not need any fake addresses or other shenanigans to get this to work. Unless you're in Mexico and a few other countries. In that case, I believe you are out of luck.
3 - Do not use a VPN. It does absolutely nothing in your favor, Twitch simply sees straight through it and even delivers you localized content (in Portuguese, with local ads, etc.). My best guess is that they pull Google's data about you, which includes your place of residence and, most likely, even your GPS data with your current location. Yes, I also think this is creepy - better not to think about it.
4 - To get Twitch Prime, even just the trial, you will need an international credit card. There is no going around this, you must have one or their system will simply not be interested in you. Yes, it can be your dad's card. Just make sure to have it with you, as you will need all the information it contains, not just the main number.
Ok, so here's what you want to do:
- Log into your Amazon account, if you have one, and go to Your Account page. There, you will find a box called "Other Accounts", where there is a link which reads "Twitch Account Settings". Click that. Surprising, I know.
- In the Twitch Account Settings page, check if your Twitch account/username is currently linked to that Amazon account. If it is, unlink it. There is literally only one button, you can't mess this up. If there is no information, go to the next step.
- Back in the Your Account page, look for the option Payment Options. It is huge, you must be blind to miss it. And in case you are blind... well, congratulations on being a Hearthstone player - provide me evidence and I'll do my best to buy you a beer.
- In the Payment Options page (remember, still at Amazon), you will need to have a registered credit card, and make sure that the billing address is correct. It must be the REAL billing address, otherwise this will all be for nothing and I will punch your throat. This is what you needed your dad's card for, and I really, really hope you also have your dad's address, otherwise this will suddenly be a very awkward moment.
- Log off your Amazon account and feel free to do whatever you want with this tab/window. No porn, though. You dad's credit card can only take so much.
OK, you're done with Amazon for now.
- On a different tab, log into your Twitch account. On the upper right corner, use the dropdown menu to reach the Settings page. Once there, click on the tab "Connections".
- Since you're a fast learner, I'm sure you already guessed: check and see if your Amazon account is linked to your Twitch account on Twitch. If it is, unlink them. Don't be scared, there are more buttons this time, but it is still pretty easy not to miss a click.
- Now, make sure you have signed off of your Amazon account, refresh your Twitch page, and click the huge "TRY PRIME" link you will see on the top banner. It should take you to a page asking if you have an Amazon Prime or Prime Video account. You will tell it you don't, even if that is not true. I understand if you might feel uncomfortable lying, but I promise you it will not only do Twitch no harm, it may actually give it some money. Just do as I say, damnit, everyone lies. Dr. House says so, and he's really smart.
- A page promoting Twitch Prime, with a huge video on the top which your browser probably blocked from loading, will appear. It should look like a bunch of descriptions of the perks of Prime on the left side and a dropdown menu with a purple button underneath it on the right side. Now, this is important: make sure that, from that dropdown menu, the selected country is "Other Parts of the World". Yes, I know that is not the name of a country, don't be a smartass, just be sure that there is no country flag above that purple button, only a tiny and poorly designed little globe. Then, click the purple button. Goddamnit, fine, here's a screenshot:
- That will take you to an Amazon login page. Simply log in using the same account you were using before. If you use another account, I will be very disappointed.
- Once logged into Amazon, you will see a beautiful purple "Sign in" button. All you have to do now is sign in with your Twitch account, confirm your payment information (the one we talked about you not using for porn), which should be the same you saved to your Amazon account before and... DONE! You now have one week of free Twitch Prime! Yay!
* Protip: you also get one week of Prime Video. You should totally watch Westworld.
Anyhow, hope this is helpful to anyone, even though it will most likely be buried under thousands of comments asking how to solve this very issue. No worries, I've been using the Internet since 1995, I know how things go.
If you need any further assistance, please look for someone else. I'm a grumpy dude and writing this took, like, an hour. And if you're a Brazilian citizen and want me to make a version of this post in Portuguese, the answer is: "go learn some English, it is important for your career and so easy it is almost stupid" (and I'm also curious as to how you got this far).
Have a nice one! ;)
2
Ok, I'm just feeling stupid at this point. I've been trying for over an hour, and the best I could manage was to get his armor down to 48 before he flooded the board at turn 12 and obliterated me.
Now, since I trust you are not all just crazy murloc enthusiasts, that means I must be doing something wrong. But my strategy has simply been playing on curve and making the best out of the buffs, which doesn't seem completely bananas.
I tried simply going face with everything I could get (but, you know, Blizzard and Obliterate), tried using the buffed murlocs to control his early board zombie-thingies, tried to somehow play a control strategy (which meant topdecking pretty quickly)... What am I missing here? I even crafted myself a pair of nice Sleep with the Fishes just for this deck, and all I am getting is self doubt and maybe a frog fetish.
Could any of you, kind souls, give me a quick break-down of what to do with those 130 freaking armor points, evil spells, and the damn dude's inability to even crack out a decent joke every now and then?! Please?
Thanks in advance!
2
Very effective! Rarely ever loses, but sometimes those pesky Murloc Tidecaller decks still beat it...

Thanks for the deck, man! I was giving a shot at building a Mage that played the neat new Karazhan cards, but couldn't really put anything useful together!
BTW, despite having read your swap suggestions, I decided to give the original list a spin before deciding if it required any tweaking, and so far I've been pretty happy with the results! Got me through my "Win 5 Matches as a Mage" in exactly 5 matches!
After playing for a little over an hour, I think I'm sitting at about 75% win ratio, which is very good even though the small sample might be influencing it somehow.
I'll keep playing this deck for a while, see if anything stands out as a weakness over time, but it seems pretty good so far. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to try and get it a little lighter, since all we get to cycle through the cads is Arcane Intellect, and [card]Prince Malchezaar[/card] usually throws some heavy hitters into the mix that end up slowing things down a bit. But it isn't a major problem just yet.
Anyhow, kudos for the nice list and thanks for the help!
Edit: BTW, in case you're not familiar with it, the card markup system is pretty easy to use! All you gotta do is click the "Card" button on the top of the post editor and write the card's name between the brackets! Editing your deck in a way that shows version history is pretty simple as well, check it out if you have the time! ;)

Sorry, mate, but just saying "this is bad, I lost" doesn't add anything to the conversation...
When I first looked at the list, I thought it seemed like a solid idea, but would probably require some tweaking. Ended up winning about 75% of the matches I played in the first hour.
You say you lost 5 matches straight while in rank 17, right? That must have taken you up to Rank 18, if I'm not mistaken. Did you notice anything different there? There's very little change to the meta between those ranks, but with the overall meta keeping even some experienced players in higher ranks, there's a chance you just got unlucky and ran into a couple of veterans with great decks and a love affair with the RNG.
Tell us more, maybe you'll get some help and find a way to get the deck working for you.
2
Thanks, mate. I was really struggling to decide between Sylvanas Windrunner and Cairne Bloodhoof, and you just made my life a whole lot easier. She's the one.
3
Sorry, the deck you linked might be stronger, but it is also not F2P at all. It is simply not a basic deck.
In fact, despite it not being a very expensive deck, most of the cards are crafted, with only 5 exceptions. There's even a legendary in there, for crying out loud. If you're just getting started, you are most likely not gonna have access to those cards.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to take your deck for a spin, but being a starting player who is just learning how to play with the Paladin, I simply can't afford it... Not exactly fair comparing it to this one, which is a basic deck, built with basic cards that anyone can put together and try out.
