Have you experimented with Iron Juggernaut? I find it very good vs controls matchups but a dead card vs aggro
And I definately agree about varian I though he was gonna be OP at TGT launch but ended up benching him
I play Iron Juggernaut in my deathlord-based control warrior, can be pretty good vs handlock&patron with their high draw engines. It's more of a fun card.
That many spells is beyond overkill, and running x2 brawl+feeding AND revenge whirlwind is asking to lose vs all other matchups.
Basically, mind was correct on spell-usage and getting a belcher in there.
My comment is just going to be Harrison is fine, but is actually an EXTREMELY slow card VS secretdin and only gives them more value from divine favor. Divine favor doesn't really matter honestly if you ever get board past t7. Just something to keep in mind.
What do you do against midrange hunters?they are everywhere in rank 8 using mendi CW
Hunter matchup is a skill-test tbh. You have to think way ahead on what happens if I use X removal now, if I brawl t5 he's gonna play Savannah t6 ect.
You can kinda lose to bad hands, but you have much more time than VS aggro. Whenever I get around to quing on my desktop I'll try to keep a bad hand VS a midrange and see if I can come back (Obviously, I'll post a video here)
Sorry for 3 different posts, I can't multi quote from mobile!
How often is it good to keep Acolyte of Pain in the starting hand?
Lets say against a deck that probably is aggro-oriented. Is it good to keep Acolyte of Pain if you're first, and have no other good card in hand, or should you toss it, hoping for Cruel Taskmaster, Fiery War Axe or Armorsmith? I often find myself in that position, keeping the Acolyte of Pain, since the risk of getting a huge legendary is a factor. If I start with coin the choice is easier.
If going first and against aggro, 100% keep it. The risk/reward of tossing it is way to negative.
Against control/another warrior you can keep Acolyte with taskmaster, for a t4/5 combo. Draws 2 cards and you can get a weebit of pressure out.
is there any way to win Frost-Molten Echo Mage with CW?
Before I explain this, the match right before the screenshot I posted on my deck guide I actually played VS Rage's molten echo, which you might remember as he played against Reynard with it, and I did win. (To note though, he was debating on if I had double brawl because I let 3 giants live, and he ended up overextending (he was 4 damage into fatigue.) aka held brawl hoping he'd overextend and he did.
Recognize it quickly and NEVER touch their HP. They will Alexstraza themselves at some point, you need to be able to kill off Alex and pop the ice block instantly. Also keep track of how many cards they have left in their deck if they don't Alex themselves. You can leave them at 15 HP if they have 6 cards or more I'd believe.
You can also Alexstraza them if you popped ice lock and they aren't close to fatigue.
In my matchup VS him, I had 53 armor/83 hp and I went down to 24. You MUST have double brawl in hand for this. Don't play minions. Let his hand fill up and have him start wasting cards. You'll probably dupe a emperor if it's a good molten Mage, it can't be avoided but plan to kill these without using shield slam/execute as best possible.
basically, fatigue has to kill him. If you make him sit on 10 cards he'll eventually use heal just so he has room to draw cards. Never miss chances to make him overdraw with acolyte and duplicate.
I'll explain this in better detail, or someone else can but I'm at college ATM and typing on mobile is a pain :(
Is playing CW withotu Variann and Alexstrasza legit? I feel both are overrated
Varian is really not needed, and honestly in a lot of cases so is alexstraza. I recommend her though because during my grind this season specifically, the amount of times she saved MY own healthpool was quite a lot.
But technically yes, alex can be replaced by whatever legendary, heck even sneeds isn't as bad as most think (Only if you run sylv too tho ;)
Thoughts on this vs the new Double Alexstrasza's Champion dragon warrior? In that would you run Slam or Revenge for a 1 tech slot? Nefarian or Alexstrasza as 2nd big dragon? Is a 2nd brawl really worth crafting or just waiting til you get it from packs?
Both are fine. I'd probably tech revenge, and on the bases of dragon warrior 100% nefarian. Dragon CW is more or less dragon midrange warrior, using tempo-based dragon cards to control the board.
2nd brawl isn't need if you have revenge and 1 brawl MAYBE. I love double brawl just because when I run x1 copy, I feel like I never have it and that card is your only saving grace VS a lot of stuff, namely paladin.
You convinced me to cut 1 Bash, Varian and Emperor T from mine
From what I said in another page, every choice CAN be argued if against X class and X decks. Varian has no use, 1 in 30 games it might of made a difference. Emperor just doesn't fit the criteria of CW and what it's meant to do.
You can replace a shieldmaiden with harrison jones btw, should be fine I think, just not if there's a lot of mech/tempo mages quing.
Varian is way too slow, use Ragnaros or something else instead, by the time you can play him you will be dead, just won against this exact deck as mid range hunter and i had bad draws.
As stated, I think Varian is bad in CW. Just posted the exact deck I used. As CW it's easy to misplay vs Midrange hunter, especially if you're new to it (Yes I know CW is easy to play VS hunter.)
Thoughts on Harrison Jones, the meta seems heavy with Patron, CW, secretadin builds, and hunter. I've been running it, and eating Ashbringer form a mid-range secretadin's Tirion is game ending, and disarming Eaglethorn (with the card draw) gives me game shifting tempo regularly.
Also, why the inclusion of Shield Maiden? The card on the surface seems to scream value, 5 heal and a 5/5 body, but more often than not I'm spending turn 6 dropping Justicar, Sylvanas, or equiping death's bite with armor. I guess it depends on the meta. I've been facing a lot of mid-range decks, which are slow enough for me to draw value from turn 6 Justicar without being able to push my face in right away.
I'm still not sold on Varian. He seems like a great "I win" button, but I've yet to lose a game against him. It feels like it goes against the grain of what CW does, which is a slow grind to the death. Varian is a shove in the face with -all the things-, and seems to trip over itself more than it wins games.
Shieldmaiden->Shieldslam happens more often than you'd think.
Also helps VS face decks. Every card can be argued to replaced when against X matchup, this is just what I found good playing in the meta.
As stated, I don't think Varian is good in CW. I thought I'd post the exact deck I used for the sake of consistency. Varian only won me games against Dragon Priest, if it even won them.
I love Harrison, you can add it in and replace a shieldmaiden for it!
I'm at rank 10 now, and every match seems impossible. I don't know what changes I should make, if I even should change the decklist. 2x Shield Block and 2xShieldmaiden seems a little much, but if I change one of them I always lack armor against the swarming decks.
Mulligan for the 2 drops (don't be afraid to play the Armorsmiths) and weapons against aggro to mantain board control til turn 5 this is when your deck starts gaining force, try to get Brawl aswell with the acolytes.
Against midrange same thing as aggro but try to play thaurissan asap for advanced plays (Sylvannas + Brawl f.e.) otherwise they'll just overrun you with minions. This type of match is perfect for Justicar if you can play it on turn 6.
Against control and combo this is powerful as fuck, as long as you mantain a good armor pool and board control you should win easily. Try to keep your weapons against Patron for Brawl + Weapon.
Might craft a second Brawl, I think the Revenge have to do until I decided. But probably I will have to craft it. I really like Baron Geddon though, might try replacing a maiden for Emperor Thaurissan, or a block.
What are you mostly losing against?
x1 brawl x1 revenge is fine with geddon, revenge is just a good catchup-mechanic.
Emperor Thaurissan is a personal choice. I don't find it to be that great, it's extremely easy to outplay other CWs (Or control decks in general) because you have so much time to form a hand & make a plan with it. It's only good IMHO because people overextend so hard to kill it. Don't replace a maiden for emperor, you'll want to replace a legendary. The meta doesn't have near enough control to warrant taking out a maiden.
You don't need Alex in control warrior tbh, a friend of mine took a no-grom/Alex deck to legend.
Anyway, I would forsure say Alex is better than Rag in CW, not so much as a finisher but it can save you vs. Face/midrange Hunter if you had a bad hand. Also Alex is very nice VS priest decks in general. You can replace Varian with Rag, or geddon if that's what you feel would work better for your playstyle.
Edit: To clarify, you can replace Alex with rag if you want. I wouldn't personally because of what I found quing on ladder.
I like to play CW. Do you think I should craft Baron Geddon or he is easily replaceable?
Hard to say. Personally, I love his effect and I wouldn't replace him. And in control match ups, he's a bait-bgh/removal target (Aka I try hard to remove my opponents board and get geddon on before anything.)
Yeah, 4 6-drops is pretty gross. I believe it would be okay just simply because justicar & Sylv have very unique effects on the game.
I actually dislike the card because really no other CW card is great to silence. I usually play the mirror matchup pretty aggressive, I'll keep a 4-5-6 in my starting hand just for the sake of curving. You win for free if you get shield slams and executes on shieldmaidens/belchers/justiciar.
If you feel it isn't right though, rag should be fine, or any big legendary tbh.
