posted a message on Jaraxxus interaction
    Quote from Toralan >>

I've never been a fan of the sacrificial pact jaraxxus interaction. I don't think it's "fair" and it's a shame since Jarraxus would be a fun card to use.

The only time Jaraxxus is useful to the point where he can be used for fun is if you can cheat him out of your hand as a minion and give him taunt, with his huge health pool.

There are an insane amount of 15 damage combos in the game. And unless your opponent's topdecking from an empty hand, there's literally no way to play a 9 mana card that provides quite literally zero tempo, and locks you to 15 max health.

Jaraxxus needs an update.. There's not even a ton of novelty in becoming Jaraxxus anymore, since Mecha Jaraxxus is a hero anyway.

I've no clue why people are blaming Sac Pact as the issue. When the problem is clearly the drastically outdated card.

    Quote from Nicodemus >>

I got him off Galakrond just today, so it's not true that you can't get jaraxus as a random minion. he was quite useful, very hard to remove for the deck I was playing agaisnt.

Gonna need some evidence of that, rather than just believing a random person's memory.

    Quote from Adernain >>

What I dont understand is why are priests allowed to have so many board clears. How is the new 4 mana, destroy all minions with more than 5 attack even that low on cost? In a class that excels in clears. It's just one mana more from the prenerf version of SWD.

Because they originally didn’t. Blizz fucked up by making it so they had none and suffered for it originally. Now they give them one every expansion practically.

They were given two this expansion.

Though. The problem isnt their board clears. Its the ambiguity of the entire res mechanic, in addition to how powerful their quest reward is, while having such a generic criteria.

They need to rework the quest to "buff X health on minions", to force Priests to take deck slots to use on their actual class focus.

They also need to modify the res mechanic to specify attack/health/mana cost ranges, in order to allow Priests to include weaker bodied cards that dont ruin their res cards.

posted a message on The Amazing Reno not affecting dormant minions
    Quote from Primus7112765 >>

why would reno work when all other cards don't? its not classed as a minion on the battlefield, so it works fine as it should.

Reno's effect is literally unique in the game. It doesnt kill the opponent's minions. It doesn't silence and kill them. The equivalent would be permanently moving them to an exile pile.

    No other card does this.

Reno should 100% exile dormant cards for both balance and consistency. Reno removes all cards on the board. Dormant cards are physically on the board.

    Quote from zynessa >>

Lmfao just as I wrote my previous comment, Libram of Hope pops out. Yeah, the three librams, Liadrin, and the mana reduction cards suddenly turned into a pretty solid package. Libram of Hope being given by Liadrin and costing 3 mana after being reduced to the maximum is pretty damn sick.

The problem is that they rotated out Paladin's card draw so they have no tempo. So you've no chance of ever getting far enough in a game to play Liadrin

posted a message on Blizzcon 2020 - Status This Year Uncertain

They should just move Blizzcon fully digital this year. They only really have enough content to warrant a press conference about every other year. And the main bonus of Blizzcon is primarily the amenities at the venue, but no one really wants to be in a packed conference hall in the wake of a deadly pandemic.

Everything they have to show, they can do digital. Its worked for Nintendo for years now, and has worked for Playstation recently too.

It wouldn't even be the first time that they've cancelled a Blizzcon. Just spend the time refining the game demos, and put the Blizzcon funds into online e-sport tournaments or something.

posted a message on Who is actually enjoying playing/playing against DH?
    Quote from Geoff >>

The fundamental issue with DH is that it doesn't run out of steam. In the end it's just an aggro deck. Aggro decks have historically been vulnerable to board wipes and struggling in the late game.

DH doesn't have those weaknesses - it can refill the board after a nuke without any effort and on top of that it has a crazy draw power. When was the last time you saw Face Hunter (or any other aggro deck) go to fatigue? With DH it happens if the opponent plays a slower deck and is still alive after enough turns. I myself went to fatigue with two DHs today (playing Highlander Mage).

They basically designed aggro 2.0 - aggro without its typical flaws. If DH didn't have its ridiculous draw power, there would be nothing to complain about it.

P.S. Struggling now? Just wait till they give DH some kind of a late game deadly combo. You will not only be struggling to survive early- to mid-game, but also keeping in mind that with this ridiculous draw engine, they will inevitably draw their components. This is what you call a "limiting design" (what Blizzard apparently wants to avoid at all costs).

Demon Hunters already have an unavoidable "Deal 16 damage to random enemies" with a 10/6 + 6/7 body on the board on turn 8. Its not like they need a finisher after that. Since Kayn and Altruis reliably end games at that point.

Res Priest is awesome. Slowly dragging the game to its inevitable conclusion all the while making the opponent think they have a chance. It’s beautiful. I also like the harder games where I’m nearly dead and somehow pull it back. It’s a great deck, the new Psyche Split is such a sweet card. Reliquary of Souls is great as well. I’d rather play Res Priest all day than any DH deck. Class has no appeal to me and even less now after they’ve infested the ladder since launch. I will play a few games with DH, three exactly so I can complete the quest but that’s about it. I’ll leave it alone until the hype has died down and the class is more reasonably balanced.

Pretty sure when people actually play against res priest with decks that cant win, they just rope down while playing a different game, or browsing Youtube or Reddit. More likely you're being trolled into wasting your own time, rather than the other way around.

posted a message on Go ahead and balance DH's, but a couple of things...
    Quote from Beebs >>
    Quote from BrokenCycle >>

Eye Beam is not a glaring issue and it never will be. The card states "outcast: this costs (1)". So obviously it should cost one when it is on the left or right. The druid legendary does the same thing. It makes Innervate cost 1. If you can't deal with a little anti synergy between two cards in the deck, then don't use them. It is still a full mana cheaper than Penance. So yeah you describing it as a glaring issue is kind of odd. I can only imagine you say that for the eye pun XD

Being able to kill jarraxus with sac pact is just stupid and ruins a class legendary, so at least I agree with you on that.

I'm sorry but the interaction between Skull of Gul'dan and Eye Beam is definitely an oversight by Blizzard.  I can guarantee you with 100% certainty that they did not intend for it to cost MORE.  Additionally, the interaction isn't "obvious" as you claim because, while you are correct that it does indeed say "Outcast: This costs 1" its cost has already been reduced to 0 and that should take priority.  In other words, the cost calculation should be as follows.  Base cost = 3, Outcast = Base cost -2, Skull of Gul'dan = Base cost -3.  Instead, Blizzard took a lazy coding route so that Outcast cast is always 1.  As has frequently been the case throughout the history of Hearthstone, we the players are required to suffer Blizzard's complete and utter lack of testing.  Seriously, if you ran a video game development company wouldn't you just play test your fix for 5 minutes before you make it live?

You can't guarantee that. And its so fucking easy to work around the cost. Its only a 1 in 3 chance that it costs 1 mana anyway. Its also consistent with other cost alterations in the game.

Stop complaining. If you're losing games as DH right now, it's not because you lowrolled Eyebeam as the final outcast card draw once in your life. Its because you're playing a shit deck like garbage.

Jaraxxus has always been a garbage legendary. Even without Sacrificial Pact coming from Zephrys. And even before the days that hero replacements were the norm.

The only reason to possibly ever run Jaraxxus is if you can reliably cheat him out of your hand to be a regular minion. But even then he's bad.

Jaraxxus needs to either be Hall of Famed, or changed into an actual hero card on the lines of 9 mana, 5 armor, changes hero power to (2) summon a 5/5 infernal.

Sac Pact is basically essential for Warlocks in DH dominant metas. DH aggression and face damage outright invalidates Lock hero power, and it levels the playing field a bit. Its also one of the only thing that controls DH's overpowered demons.

And Eye Beam is already a fantastic card. Its so fucking easy to trigger Outcast, and Skull of Guldan needs more low rolls like Twin Slice. Its also a fucking penance, in a class that doesnt need penance. Its not even as if you NEED to use the outcast cost when using Skull of Guldan. You can just draw a card with one of Demon Hunter's 6 different draw spells, and pay the SoG 0 mana cost.

Demon Hunter is far more bearable than playing against Res Priest.

That deck is such a garbage way to climb for how long it intentionally drags out games, far easier to pilot than DH, and relies far too much on fatigue.

Res Priest players should be banned for intentionally dragging games out to be honest.

Rez priest is the only viable deck right now for this class. It's a different style of play, you don't like it that's your problem. Don't start asking Blizz to kill a class just because it annoys you. Back off, go and play your favorite class and shut up!

That's not true at all. Its just the start of the new meta, and has been such a dominant deck for so long, that people just switched out Mass Hysteria and kept playing it.

They need to rework the quest to not be so fucking mindless. It needs to function on minion buffs, and not on healing done.

I like them all except for the Antaen. I'm very skeptical whether or not that will be detrimental enough. The cost isn't the problem. It's the shear amount of random 10 damage and leaving a 10/6 body on the board.

But you get one more turn to either pressure the DH or dig for answers or maybe just heal up before the card comes down.

You cant heal up though. It only really affects DH in aggro matchups.

The issue is that on the turn it's dropped, it either kills a huge minion, or deals 10 face damage. And that late in the game, the DH can easily chain together spells for 20 face damage.

The big problem is that they made it an tempo class. We didn't need another tempo class, we need to slow down this game.

You joking? Res Priest slowed the game down to an average of 20-30 turns for the last 3 months.
