I haven't used single dime on this game. Yet I can always craft what legendaries I want and I'm multiple times legendary ranked in wild.

Friend plays only standard and he have hit legendary in there, and he is also free to play.

We both think this game isnt worth of real money. Even using single payment isnt worth it if you can play all you want free.

Assuming you're hypothetically a new player, and you play because you watched a video of a person playing a fun meta deck with only 2 legendaries, 2 epics, and the rest are commons. Pretty cheap deck, right?!

Let's say for arguments sake that average daily gold is around 100g (it's less, but im being lazy at math, so i'll round up)

2x legends, 2x epics = 4000 dust value. Average pack dust is around 110 dust. So assuming the new player has a full collection of commons and rares (they don't), it'd take roughly 37 days (over a month!) to craft that extremely cheap fun meta deck that was the reason for playing.

Granted, in that time, you'll unlock 1 random legendary. However you'd need to disenchant it if you still wanted to play the meta deck.

But wait, average pack dust assumes that the player has a full collection of rares and commons, which a new player won't. It takes around ~45 packs to complete the commons and rares. So that's still around another month of grinding to start getting the dust for your deck.

Overall, 2 months to build a very cheap meta deck. So no, you can't always craft the cards you want as a F2P player. That's a lie.

I started playing Legends of Runeterra about 3 weeks ago. I spent a total of $20 on the game, and already own most of the collection.

$14 went to buying my first deck outright using wildcards (Mogwai's Heimerdinger control deck) with no RNG or luck in the purchase. The other $6 went to buying two expedition runs (aka Arena).

Obtained most of the cards through maxing out the weekly chests, the progression milestones, and through repeated value on the expeditions, which is significantly easier, since the runs cap out at 7 wins, allow up to 5 losses, and give you a free second chance if you fail the first time.

The cost I paid was equivalent to an indie game, the progression took about as long as a AAA game, and I got to play a Masters tier deck from the get-go.

    ---

Contrast this to the $90 I spent on the expansion bundle, which only unlocked about 1/5th of the legendaries, and that's with insane highroll on my unpacks. Then on top of that, I still can't craft the deck I want without disenchanting other legendaries.

To add, it'd also take until next xpac to get maybe 1/2th of the remaining collection.

This is absolutely a lie. I dabbled in Runeterra, and there is absolutely no way you have only spent $20 and are close to a full collection in 3 weeks. Absolutely impossible.

It is a much cheaper game that Hearthstone to amass the full collection, but get out of here with this bullcrap.

3x Expeditions per week = 9 Champions and ungodly amount of wildcards.

Progression rewards = 3 Champions per Region + Random upgrades can also give champions. Expeditions give an insane amount of exp for these unlocks too.

Shards can also be used for champions.

And then $9 used to buy Heimerdinger.

In addition to the starting collection of champions the game gives. Compared to Hearthstone that only occasionally gives out promotional legendaries, and starts you with none.

Im still missing a few. Fiora, Thresh, Kalista,S and Anivia. Also missing third copies of a couple, such as Darius and Tryndamere. But a lot of meta decks dont even need three copies of the expensive ones.

My collection should be done by the time the new set hits. So regardless of whether or not you believe me, the game is significantly cheaper, and my collection is almost done.

Compare Hearthstone to Magic: I can buy 90 Hearthstone packs for $100, while in Magic, I have to pay $115 for a booster box (30-some packs). Is Hearthstone expensive?

then go play legends of runeterra. To compare a game with a model based on trying to keep people with money from purchasing all the cards and just winning right away to a game made to make money is pretty ridiculous.

You benefit from the game being "made to make money" how?

Both games will stay afloat, but your experience is drastically worse in one. And having decks locked behind a paywall of $90 is far more pay-to-win than having decks locked behind a paywall of $15

posted a message on This new ranked system is a joke.
    Quote from sicknantos >>

First things first, this will happen every month. Everyone gets set back to bronze and matchmaking will take a bit to really refine as everyone's MMR is composed based on games played.

So far, I've spoken with a few players who have done some testing and here's how the matchmaking seems to work (unofficially, of course):

Based on your skill, efficiency, deck composition, and rank, you'll get matched with people who best line up with you.

For example, you'll face a player who makes a lot of mistakes if you make a lot of mistakes, too. You'll face a lot more meta decks if you run meta decks, too. Running off-meta? Your opponent is likely to be doing the same. Win streak? Your opponent probably has one going, too.

Don't let the initial newness/weirdness of ladder turn you off from it. Get a feel for how it works and how you can best approach it.

    Best of luck!

     That 100% doesnt happen.

The matchmaking is not that advanced. No matter what you run, your ladder experience is going to mostly be Face or Dragon Hunter, since its its fastest deck to climb with, and undisputedly one of the most populous because of its dominance over Galakrond Rogue and Big Druid.

    Quote from shad0wseek3r >>

Prologue purpose is to give you cards, what do you expect it to be, especially for new players. Making it difficult for basic/classic set of cards is equivalent of playing braindead coop tavern brawls, just a waste of time.

I think the idea is that it was 4 boring missions, two of which you play as a Mage, to get a deck that's nonsensically locked for another 6 days.

With half the planet in quarantine, it wouldn't have ended the world to just let people play the deck they unlocked.

I'm not too happy with the direction they took priest at first look with 0 face/burst potential to help them finish games.

Right... Because they removed the gimmick OTKO with Divine Spirit. A combo exclusive to about 1 in 100 rank 25 games.

Priest had no burst potential in the meta since mind blast. So its not as if they suddenly removed it. The whole point of the change was to give them viable evergreen deck options, instead of having a core set that revolved entirely around a terrible combo.

I'll miss Tess.  She never got the spotlight like she should have.  Powerful, but never an "I win" button.  I wish she could go in to the Rogue evergreen set.

Maybe sometimes not an I-win button. But it made mirror matches VERY fun vs Highlander Rogues when she summons multiple Tirions.

    Quote from kullehh >>

yes absolutely, she will be in everydeck but never as powerful as to nerf, she will be in every game in standard for the next 2 years and there is no doubt about it but at least she is less powerful than zilliax

Doubtful. She has no tempo against wide decks, and does she cause a second trigger of minions **with** dormant? Because that's a mechanic that's too slow to use on your own minions 9/10s of your time, but 100% worse than outright removal on enemy minions.

posted a message on Shadow Priest is crying in a corner!

What?? The changes give them a stronger midrange kit than they've ever had.

The cards moving to Wild were either useless (Shadow Form), or limited card designs (Northshire Cleric, Auch Soulpriest).

Their evergreen set has always been utter garbage. They rely entirely on expansions to even be playable.

Specs have nothing to do with Hearthstone. Class fantasy is about how the class plays IN HEARTHSTONE.

So fuck off with this nonsense crying.

This card wasn't in the list of notable cards moving to Wild, and wasn't stated to be staying in Standard. Where is this card going?

Its one of the only mechanics that allows new players to have fun with the game without feeling like a lack of legendaries is ruining everything.

Yes, I know they stated every player gets to choose a deck after doing a new introduction. But this aint the Yugioh anime. Being locked into a single deck you likely regret choosing isn't going to entice new players, and even with duplicate protection, epics and legendaries are still VERY expensive. Especially now that thousands of people are out of their jobs, and the stock market has crashed.
