posted a message on The HearthPwn Tavern Is Closing Its Doors

WHY though?!  Seems unreal that the site I visited pretty much daily for years is closing soon...There was a similar deal with diablofans recently but Blizz pretty much gave up on that game so I understood ( + the admins explained that interest was fading etc... )

There are so many useful things on this site that I use regularly ( best new expansion card reveal updates and discussions , nerf / buff discussions , deck creation and filter system so I can always find an ok deck for my underused but fun legendaries , 80g quest trade thread...etc )

Oh well...all things come to an end eventually... Best wishes to the hearthpwn team and also to everyone in the community we built here. It was fun while it lasted.

posted a message on Card Nerf - Preparation

About time Blizzard did something about Preparation. So many rogue spells were overcosted because this 3mana cheat existed. And there are also rogue spells that get oppressive when cheated out so much. There is no way you can justify Prep giving you 3 mana for a spell when Innervate was nerfed to give only 1.  Even after the nerf I am sure Prep will see a lot of play,  being a 0 mana combo enabler that cheats 2 mana and has spell synergy.

Yes this will nerf every single rogue deck in both standard and wild, but it needed to happen. And now...even if this momentarily kills rogue as a class,  from now on Blizz will be able to design better rogue spells and we won't have to play 2x Prep in every rogue deck.

posted a message on Rise of Shadows Card Nerfs - What Do Pros Want To See Smacked?

Dr. Boom, Mad Genius - I do think the card is a bit unfair in a world without death knights. The rush mechs can win you any midrange board battle and the hero power is just extra value every singe turn. Not sure how to nerf him though...Can't change the mana cost or armor gain because of the flavor...removing the battlecry would be weird because every hero card has one. And nerfing any particular hero power doesn't have much effect because it's just one out of five.  Maybe we just have to accept that warrior and shaman ( because of Hagatha ) are going to be the best late game control classes until next rotation...or until another class gets a good hero card.

But from what I've seen the main reason warrior gets played this much is because it is the only class that can reliably beat rogue. So I think rogue is a bigger problem.

EVIL Miscreant is totally fine in my opinion. It's fun to play and I never feel bad when it gets played against me. The opponent just gets some resources and a body with 1 attack that can't really do too much. Obviously the card is good...but I feel like it never has a massive impact on the outcome of the game.

Edwin VanCleef - I never liked playing against this card. If it gets played in the late game whatever...by then you probably have an answer for a giant Edwin. But the reason it's played is because it can win games on the spot when played in the early game and that's no fun at all for the opponent. ,,Oh you had a good enough hand for a 10/10 Edwin turn 3 and I have no answer...I guess I lose,, What a great game that was. You can say ,,but it's risky! The rogue can lose instantly if you do have the answer,, but even that doesn't lead to fun gameplay... ,,Oh I was lucky enough to have this in the early game so I guess I win now,, . I think nerfing the combo effect to be +2/+1 for each card would be great because it would be easier to answer in the early game and it would still be playable.

Preparation - I've been playing hearthstone since beta and ever since standard became a thing and Innervate was nerfed...I was puzzled by Blizzard not HoFing or nerfing this design space limiting tempo monster. How many rogue spells up until now have been overcosted because this card exists? How many more years will we see miracle rogue crawl back into standard? How many Rogue spells get oppressive because they get cheated out for 3 mana less? I will tell you two of those that are in the meta right now. Raiding Party and Myra's Unstable Element . Both of those wouldn't be nearly as good if you had to actually lose tempo to play them.  How many times do I turn a game around and have lethal next against a rogue only for them to Prep + Myra's and then have tons of mana to turn the situation around with their high tempo cards. We can all agree that Wagglepick into Dread Corsair on turn 4 is really strong and Raiding Party fetching both of those is super good...but if the rogue had to work harder to combo the card and pay 3 mana, lose tempo and give you the chance to prepare yourself for such a big tempo swing it would be totally fine. Anyone remember Quest Rogue? The deck that almost everyone hated and was super polarizing? The main reason that deck functioned is because you could prep Vanish or prep the quest. Otherwise both of those cards would cost you the entire turn in the midgame and that would get you killed even against slower midrange decks.

It should get nerfed because even for Wild it's too strong. Probably make it give only a 2 mana reduction or maybe even 1. I know it would be a worse Counterfeit Coin...but it never rotates since it's classic so it shouldn't really have a high power lvl and I think at 2 mana it would probably still see almost as much play as today. I mean...they turned Fiery War Axe into a worse King's Defender so it's not unprecedented.

Barnes - Just make him a 6 mana 5/5 or something please. Loosing on turn 4 to a highroll Barnes from Big Priest stopped being fun after the first time it happened.

posted a message on Details on the Updated Arena Rules for Rise of Shadows

Uh...You seem pretty unstable. Maybe you should take a break from the game if it makes you so bitter and hateful towards random strangers. And for the record...all 3 archetypes you listed I am having fun with regardless if they are tier 1 or not.

posted a message on big priests aren't that bad.

I am convinced they ARE that bad to the point it boggles my mind Blizz didn't do anything about it yet.

Whenever I play against Big Priest it's almost never an interesting game. It's either I am playing aggro and running over them while they do almost nothing. Or I am playing control and just slog through big minion after big minion after big minion until I run out of removal or they run out of big minions. Or I am playing combo and get a free win most of the time because they are slower than aggro decks and can't tech against combo.

The only thing that changes up ( for the worse ) these matchups is Barnes which is as good of a design as Prince Keleseth with ,,I drew this 1 of legendary card in the early game so my winrate rises exponentially,, . I actually looked up on hsreplay the best version of Big Priest with 60% winrate...and if you get Barnes in the mulligan ( using your exceptional skillz of course ) your winrate sky rockets to 80%. Now that's not enough since the minion summoned is random too so if you summon Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound the winrate is probably 95% or so. All because of a random draw into a random summon.

I can't count how many times I've lost ,,games,, that were like Barnes into any minion --> double resurrect or Barnes into Y'shaarj into anything really. Whenever it happens I roll my eyes and think to myself ,,How does Blizzard think this is ok to keep in the game as a tier 1 deck?,, . And as I said...even without Barnes in the picture it's not a fun deck to play against at all. There is also no way to tech against it since you need like 5 tech cards to kinda remotely ruin their plan. It also doesn't help that it's a super easy deck to play so whenever you lose you know it's only because they drew well enough to win.

All that said...I would love it if Blizzard just nuked the deck from orbit. I would be happy enough if at least Barnes was nerfed though...while taking the deck to bottom tier 2 or tier 3. Hopefully Blizzard realizes soon that this would increase the enjoyment of wild greatly. Or maybe Big Priest somehow falls out of the meta...you never know.

posted a message on Naturalize Moving To Hall Of Fame

I never liked how in some matchups Naturalize was a 1 mana Assassinate that also moves you opponent closer to fatigue and mills their cards too. That's completely bonkers. I know it's very bad in aggro matchups but it's way too polarizing against control.

The thing I don't like about this HoF though...is that Blizz is completely destroying the classic set for Druid... Keeper of the Grove , Ancient of Lore , Force of Nature , Innervate , Wild Growth , Nourish and now Naturalize too. All very iconic for the druid class and all nerfed / HoFed into oblivion. Every nerfed card there saw almost 0 play after the nerf so it's not like they are being subtle about it.

So yeah...they better print some good druid cards every rotation or the class pretty much won't exist in Standard.

posted a message on Who wants new rewards at 1000, 1500, 2000+ wins ?

I would totally hate it if Blizz added anything past 500. I have 4 golden portraits so far but I am planning on earning all of them eventually. When that happens I will feel good because IT'S DONE. No more ,,I should really play this class because I didnt earn 500 wins on it,, . If there were infinite rewards , or even finite if the ceiling is high enough...I would always feel like I ,,need,, to play my favorite class just because I didn't unlock that next portrait / star or something. And even though I love warlock and it has 1500 wins already I sometimes feel like playing other classes.

It's different in Overwatch because you also earn loot boxes with level ups not just a cosmetic portrait. Maybe they should do that in HS too? Currently max lvl is 60 per class so your max over all lvl is 540.  What if you could level each class indefinitely and add some kind of cosmetic rewards on milestones like 600 , 700 etc...Maybe a pack every lvl like in Overwatch to give incentive to play after your daily is complete.  That I could get behind because I would contribute to that lvl no matter what class I play.

posted a message on Genn and Baku (Mostly Baku) are a cancer that's slowly eating away at Hearthstone

I have 0 problems with Genn. He made a lot of midrange decks viable and they are all interactive and fun to play against. Even Paladin was really strong and kind of annoying when 4 mana Call to Arms was a thing but that's because that card was so broken at 4. These days it's a tier 1 deck but doesn't feel bad to play against at all. Wild Even Shaman while really strong was always about board control and playing around their limited burn damage. Turn 3 Mountain Giant from Even Warlock may feel bad to loose to but it's not that different from a turn 4 giant + there are lots of answers to it.

Now for Baku...I do agree that the upgraded hero power for the whole game can feel oppressive. Especially the Paladin one before Level Up! was nerfed. You can play around that one for the whole game but if you don't have pressure the paladin will just keep clicking that thing and eventually you will run out of AoE and Level Up! will destroy you. Blizz should have changed the Baku variant of that hero power to a 2/2 recruit. Justicar Trueheart can just keep the two 1/1s , consistency is not really that important for such an old card.

Baku is fine for other classes. Sure it creates some strong aggro decks like Odd Rogue (getting nerfed with Cold Blood) , Odd Mage (no Fireball / Frostbolt in an aggro deck is a fine tradoff for a strong hero power) , Odd Hunter (can easily be countered) . I've heard the argument that Baku Mage/Rogue hero power makes 2 hp minions useless and that feels bad but I don't agree. That's just something you need to play around against those decks. You can keep the minion and play 2 at the same time later so 1 of them 100% gets some value. Against mage you can play it on turn 3 for example so they have to choose between playing their 3 drop or pinging your minion...etc. And Baku can enable more than just aggro decks. I love playing Midrange/Control Odd Mage and Odd Warrior is a pure control deck. If the right cards get printed we can also get some kind of Midrange/Control Odd Priest , Druid or Shaman. And those are not same as each other at all.

And what's this idea that Blizz can't nerf properly because of Genn/Baku? What card do you think they should have nerfed differently but couldn't because of Genn/Baku? Because I can't think of one. Maybe 2 mana Cold Blood is too op (lol) but they couldn't nerf it to 3 because a 3 mana 4 attack buff would be too good in Odd Rogue? Or maybe Call to Arms is too good now because a 6 mana one would be too good for Even Paladin haha. Maaaybe Giggling Inventor at 6 mana would be  too good in Even Warlock so that's why it was nerfed to 7 but tbh at 6 mana its still really good anywhere not just in Even Warlock. It's almost getting played at 7 in some Odd decks.

So yeah...Too many people these days are calling Baku bad for the game. It's not really a pinnacle of game design but it doesn't deserve nearly as much hate as it gets.

posted a message on Stop hating Hunters!

I don't necessarily hate hunter. Spell Hunter , Deathrattle Hunter and Secret Hunter are all ok matchups ( fun wise ) . None of those irritate me the way Reno Priest / Pirate Warrior / Undertaker Hunter...etc did. I just think that hunter is a bit too powerful right now with multiple tier 1 decks. Those decks arent really new either since all of them existed before this expansion too ( Spell Hunter and Secret Hunter were not memes, they were tier 2 decks at the time )

That's why I think Blizzard should have nerfed somethingi in hunter along with the last nerfs they did. Maybe they do another wave of nerfs this expack since the first one was so early.
