Hi all, moving away from Hearthstone I am wondering what I should play next as a main game. Ideally it would be playable on mobile and not require a powerful PC to run. It would not necessarily have to be a card game either. Any suggestions?
In my opinion, MTGA is your best bet. The game is in open beta right now and it's been only 5 months since then. You won't be so far behind if you start now.
I am playing MTGA right now. I got bored of hearthstone (every character gold and reached legend).
Good things of Arena: 1: Is Magic. 2: the art is amazing. 3: games are faster. 4: is more epic (huge things can happen). 5: there are WAY MORE cards and possibilities. 6: the stories surrounding the game. 7: rewards feel more generous.
Bad things of Arena: 1: there is no mobile app. 2: losing all work done in hearthstone (lol). 3: ... Don't know honestly.

Some initial exclusions:
- Artifact (lol, what a train wreck)
- Gwent (lol)
- Shadowverse (visually just not my style)
- MTGA (Isn't it too late to start with Magic?)
Thanks!
Faeria was very cool, think it still is, havent played it lately
Try Eternal . It like 60% MTG and 40% HS blend well together.
This is what I was going to suggest. I've been playing Eternal for around 18 months now, on and off, and it's good fun. Not to mention ridiculously generous.
I had a few months with a ton of fun and chilled hours with "Gems of War".
Now I am at a point in the game, where I nearly have all, what I want and it gets a bit boring, but it is still fun enough to play about 20 mins per day. And it is totally free and you get a ton of stuff with ease. Give it a try! :)
Blizzard should make a special stream lessons or youtube videos in which they explain the the only way hs should be played is with supa dupa 1000 IQ control/combo homebrewed decks and 30 minutes long match is a minimum time period that proves you're not braindead blah blah something etc.
A good alternative is Eternal. Has less RNG than HS, is f2p friendly (for a CCG), has not too many simple mechanics. I did quit playing it after some time, though, because of the fighting mechanics which are similar to MTGs. This is, of course, just personal preference.
It's not too late to start Magic at all, there's Standard rotations there like in Hearthstone (well, that's where Hearthstone copied the whole idea), so you do not have to collect 25 years worth of cards to play.
From more indie side, Eternal is a super solid card game that is somewhere between Hearthstone and Magic in complexity and can easily be played for free. I think it has more players than Artifact nowadays, too!

I second that.
And no, it's not too late to start playing Magic. Why? Because there is a rotation in MTG:A, same as in HS. In Autumn 2019 four old expansions are rotating out and there will be only 4 new expansions in the meta (Guilds of Ravnica and Ravnica Allegiance are already out and 2 others are coming this year - until Autumn 2019).
The crafting system of MTG:A is in my opinion worse than the one in HS, but the rewards from daily quest, daily and weekly wins feel more generous (like the guy before me already pointed out) and that compensates it. And once you have crafted 1 competitive deck, you can use it to farm random cards from standard in the constructed event.
Another positive thing about Magic are all the different modes you can enjoy the game on (especially if you like to spend money from time to time), but you can ofc be completely F2P - it will take you time to try all the different modes (some modes require gems as entrance fee and you get gems either with real cash OR in some other game modes (Bo1 Draft - where you pay 5000g (for reference: 1 daily quest is either 500g or 750g and your first win of the day rewards you with 250g, so, 5k gold is not THAT much like in HS)) and the rewards are packs and gems OR some streamer drafts with gold as entrance fee that rewards you with gems and packs again - that way you can convert your gold in to gems and remain 100% F2P)). But ofc in order to play those Drafts you need better understanding of the game, different decks, cards, etc. Which leads us to the negative point of starting Magic:
It takes a lot of time, patience and willing to read, understand and improve your play, in order to build a sizeable collection, different viable meta decks and to start climbing on ladder or playing those Drafts, in my opinion. Especially if you are F2P. I am, bought only the starting Bundle for 4,99 and don't plan on spending anything more. But I am enjoying the game, not only as to play it, but also to read about it or watch streamers or even tournaments (which is still kinda hard for me, since I don't know all the cards and decks and it's just hard to keep up with what is happening). But I still think that MTG: Arena is a nice starting point for anyone, who wants to dip his feets in to the world of Magic, but without investing a lot of money at the beginning.
And, WotC announced that they are working on 2 "mobile projects", cuz

I'll give MTGA a go then. No mobile version (yet) is a big drawback for dirty casuals like me though.
Didn't know that about Gems of War, looks fun. Forgot to mention that I tried Elder Scrolls and it failed to convince me fully.
I feel like I will give HS one last chance with the Standard rotation in April. Let's face it: I am mildly addicted after more than 4 years playing the game.

Elder scrolls legends has some cool mechanics, good solo and versus content, and it’s easier to collect packs & cards for free than hearthstone by far
also, if u are a fan of the elder scrolls series, there is a lot of cool lore references in art/mechanics/story of the game
Agar.io is a good way to pass time.
It works best when played with a friend.

Slay the spire. Not online not trading, but a very fun card game.
I think you should try Heroes of Warcraft.

if u can handle mana screw and mana flood try mtga but warned u requires lots of patience with the fakin land system
1 of 3 games either you or your opp mana screw / mana flood so not an actual game
Pokemon TCGO. Extremely friendly to new players.
Which are the card games ones u all recommend for mobile? HS getting stale yawnz.
Also gonna suggest Pokemon TCGO, been having a lot of fun with that.
