posted a message on New Paladin Legendary Card Revealed - Turalyon

So, this is basically an 8 mana 3/12 Rush Poisonous most of the times. Underwhelming design like many legendaries that have been revealed this expansion.

Demon Hunter proves one thing: Fun is a very unstable construct in Hearthstone and incredibly subjective when it comes to what you play/what you face.

If twitch chat triggers you, just not look at it. Plain simple. On a second thought: How can someone be triggered by little pictures that have literally little to no meaning?

posted a message on Zephyrs The Great - Worst card in the history of the game (poll based on explanation not on title)
    Quote from thebitterfig >>

If you think the problem with Genn/Baku was they forced a deck to be built around a gimmick... yikes.

The problem with Genn/Baku was that the kind of hero-power focused gameplay they encouraged was boring and repetitive.  The odd/even restriction was good, actually.  There were a tonne of cards which came out of the woodwork and saw play for the first time in essentially ever.  Raid Leader?  Seriously?  That's great!  What wasn't great was Button.  Button.  Button.  Button.  Button.  This made all the games against odd Paladin, odd Warrior, and so forth feel the same.  All they do is make dudes and that's enough.  All they do is gain armor, and that's enough.  The contents of the deck becomes irrelevant, and all that matters is that hero power, and that's bad.

Highlander restrictions don't do that.  The consistency of the decks go down, the contents of the decks vary more with a lot more room for tech choices, and games *don't* all feel the same.  It's pretty much the exact opposite of how Genn/Baku played out.  Zephrys being a swiss-army-knife to do anything you need does restore *some* consistency, but he's one card out of 30.

I, for one, don't dislike the hero power stuff. I agree, odd/even went out of blizzards hands, but I feel like, it was the community that disliked the mechanic and not a broken power level. Hall of Faming those cards still was the easy and bad way to drop an otherwise interesting mechanic. I loved using cards that were okay-ish in regular decks but suddenly excelled in odd/even decks (looking at stuff like Raid Leader or Argent Commander

And that is the essence why highlander also is great. You actually see and play cards that do not have a top tier power level but still manage to work out because it is balanced by other cards/mechanics. Remember: OG Reno singlehandedly made highlander viable for a year up until MSoG.

posted a message on Zephyrs The Great - Worst card in the history of the game (poll based on explanation not on title)

Your arguments are mostly your personal feelings rather than a real assessment.

Yes, he is a powerful card that potentially turns a game around. Despite being powerful, it requires a certain skill to be played correctly. The turn you play him. The card you aim for by knowing the pool and how to manipulate your odds to get the correct card.

Unpopular opinion: Cards that require build arounds are good incentives to construct decks. Be it highlander or, yes, the unpopular opinion part, odd/even. It's not the mechanic in general that is inherently broken, the problem rather is single cards that turn games upside down.

I do not think Zephrys is such a card. Alexstrasza feels much more broken. She can turn real games by simply giving you incredible cards with no mana cost. There is no skill required other than drop and hope for the best. Zephrys needs much more careful planning when to be dropped and what to aim for. The worst thing you can get is a regular card, fully priced. What's worst? Flamestrike, Fireball and so on and so forth. Nothing inherently broken. Yes, they fit the situation in every case, but only if you manage it correctly.

posted a message on Big priest nerf!?!

Yes, Barnes has been nerfed just for you. You draw him less often before turn 10 and cards more often pull him out instead of your big minions. I guess, you need to switch decks.

posted a message on It would be nice to pick your pack...

Yeah, like a free pack ticket would be a great idea so you can choose whatever you want. People have been asking for this mechanic, especially for arena. Blizzard has done nothing. Seems like the team wants to decide for us.

posted a message on Alternatives to Hearthstone

A good alternative is Eternal. Has less RNG than HS, is f2p friendly (for a CCG), has not too many simple mechanics. I did quit playing it after some time, though, because of the fighting mechanics which are similar to MTGs. This is, of course, just personal preference.

posted a message on Where is Da Undatakah now?

OP asked for a discussion and got a salt buffet.

Da Undatakah is too slow. He will probably also be too slow after the rotation. Also, he is too weak against silence. He is more of a meme card than anything else. Let's see if the rotation changes that.

posted a message on Malthael Isn't The Only One Reaping Souls - 8% of Blizzard Laid Off, Dev Teams Increasing, Message From J. Allen Brack

IMO that looks like they are investing in games as a service/online gaming only, because they indeed do not need marketing, just developers that are able to create/copy assets, create more content (remember, more does not equal better) etc. It doesn't look to me like they want to change their current course, they might just abandon regular game releases like Starcraft 2 & Diablo 3 for now, and focus on HS, OW and their remasters because those are generating revenue...

This isn't Blizzard but ACTIVION Blizzard. All that matters is the stock price and that took a dive since Octobre 18 when Blizzcon was already going downhill.

posted a message on Genn and Baku (Mostly Baku) are a cancer that's slowly eating away at Hearthstone
    Quote from KingCarnage >>
    Quote from Sherman1986 >>

I'm just going to leave this video here. Perfect explaination about the current problem with Hearthstone (which obviously involves Genn and Baku ;)):

That's not fair. That's coming from someone that makes their own decks. Braindead netdeckers love playing Genn/Baku.

    #valid

Kibler is an amazing person & player whose opinion on HS should definitely be valued, but on this one I think he is wrong. Baku/Genn aren't the problem. If you think 2 1/1 for 2 mana as a HP is too strong why nerf Baku? You cannot nerf Baku. Either ban her or change her fundamentally (together with Genn).

I will also never understand people literally being orgasmic about whether the deck you built is a "homebrew" or "netdeck" one. Must be some kind of zeitgeist in these days...

posted a message on Need a moment of Objective Clarity from others as I have over-thought this.

Do you play something else to remove Voidlords? If not, you might consider adding a silence to deal with Voidlords, in case you meet many cubelocks.

Otherwise it is probably a matter of your decision. If you think you will only beat him by beating him up as quickly as possible, definitely play Keleseth. The circumstance that he has a Voidlord AND you have your combo to deal with it, has a rather low chance, but playing Keleseth on curve/as early as possible wins some games on its own.

posted a message on A better Ginn/Baku nerf idea

Again, this idea breaks every single early game odd/even deck which is basicly all decks but Odd Warrior and maybe even Paladin.

    tl;dr: Sounds good, doesn't work.
