How is it as far as game economy is concerned? I'm interested in trying it but don't want to waste my time with p2w games, and EA doesn't actually reassure me on that side.
To be honest it doesn't seem too bad so far... you can save up gems for guaranteed legendaries (by saving for the 2000 gem packs for example) and though some legendaries are ridiculous (particularly on the plant side) as a zombie you always have a chance to react. basically beyond a certain level of play save a removal for their ridiculous legendary. I'm finding Zombie decks with high card draw are particularly powerful, because zombie answers are so powerful.
Also started 4 days ago, actually got 2 premium characters without spending money (professor for zombie & for combustible for plants, both in 2 packs in a row :D). Actually had rank 7 with nickname same as here and prefer to play as zombie cause imo they had much more interesting card set.
The only negative comments have been subjective so far. Anyone have a game play comment?
I think the game looks great. Plays smooth and is fully animated which makes most other card games feel still and flat.
It's actually fun to watch as you play. You really think Hearthstone is more "mature?" Got news for you, same thing. You're playing a video game for all ages with both...

The negative thing I do have about game play is that in ranked, since you can only play plants vs zombies, obviously there can be queing problems if more people try to play plants... though they do have a popup message if that's happening to entice you to play as a zombie.
Another thing that could be construed as negative (I actually like it) is that because there are so many heroes(20) it takes quite a while to learn how to play against each hero, what to expect, how to build a deck to counter a large part of the field etc... so what I guess I'm saying is that this game is actually super complex!
I love playing as super brainz though because there are so many decisions about placement, movement, when to save mana for the tricks phase etc.

Well, those are game design issues, not negatives as far as game mechanics for example: ESL has runes, Faeria has a board, Hearthstone has hero power.
I mean negative about actual matches. The fact that plants can't vs plants or zombies can't fight zombies eliminates mirror matches which I was never a fan of... control warrior and priests mirrors are horribly long and no fun... You will never play against a net deck with 90% of the same cards as you.
So, this design has some pros. It may be hard to balance, who knows. So far it seems like it's working
Totally love it and it's a nice change of pace from Hearthstone.
I really like the questing system which they've recently overhauled to help with the F2P aspect.
Zombies are generally easier to play than plants, but overall the balancing is pretty good!
Why do you think Zombies are easier to play? They seem to involve more choices to me... though I can see that they can be more powerful with less cards (like you don't need as good of a collection to make a great zombie deck)

Although I do get that with plants you have to play around tricks more.

I agree! I actually think it's great... I was just trying to rack my brain for negatives, that was the best I could come up with.
Ah! I figured out why this game is pretty good! An ex head designer for Magic the Gathering is the lead designer on PVZ: Heroes! You can see in the below interview...

Statistically, the 1-cost zombies have slightly better stats which may be due to the fact that plant heroes can immediately react to the minions being played. Some minions such as the Arm Wrestler may hold a lane for 2 or more turns before being dealt with.
Gravestones are always tricky to play around and the only card that can counter a gravestone is the Guardian card 'Grave Buster' which is a premium - uncommon so not many new players will have access to it.
With those two things in mind, zombies can play for a more aggressive style and with good cheap removal tricks backing them up, I find them easier to play.
That being said, once the plant heroes start unlocking their better cards, they can be hard to beat as well. But I find they play better as a control style.

Well, the negative is this, there is no rewards for individual wins, so if you get stuck and not rank up you can get nothing for your time.
other than that, the game is real good, you never excepted my friend request by the way. I'm : Fyle on PvZ
I gather this is for mobile only? If I enjoy playing a game on PC and mobile, can I use Bluestacks and the same account, or does it treat each "device" as unique?

You can sync accounts. My ipad and iPhone are the same acct... can't freakin get Bluestacks to run. Anyone know alternatives to run apps on PC?
I've unlocked all the basic cards and have completed all the quests for the starting heroes you are given. Now comes the fun of saving gems to unlock the other heroes!
Have confirmed that using Bluestacks on a reasonably high end PC you can run the game reasonably well, and share the same account. You just have to make sure you "Connect" using Google Play rather than the other options.
Now, is there a site like HearthPwn for PVZ Heros? Or some way to ask the kind folks here to set one up?

I tried it for a bit, just found it to be kinda boring for some reason.

I was getting a little interested, but apparently no PC version. Not gonna bother then.
