So, in another thread, someone said something about lifecoach which caused me to look up some info on him and I found that through being a professional poker player for a few years and hearthstone player for a few years, all together he's only made $211,000 USD.
I read that he lived in the Cayman islands for a while and now in Vienna, with his family.
My question is: how does he pay for everything? $211,000 might seem like a lot of money, but spread over 5 or 6 years, it's actually not very much at all, to live on - especially with a full family to support. So does he have a regular job to supplement his winnings? If so, what does he do?
Most of this is conjecture, but having watched a fair amount of Lifecoach over the years I've gotten the impression that first he won a lot more out of poker than $211,000 and that most of his winnings came from private cash games and I'm pretty sure there was a period he grinded online poker for a while too. A few of the things he's said randomly. The famous players are not the best players, you don't even know the names of the best players because they make a point to not be known. In this same stream someone in twitch chat brought up Tom Dwan, who's a big money cash game player on TV a lot, Lifecoach starts laughing and starts saying something like sure, Tom Dwan, I love Tom Dwan he used to be one of my best customers. implying he had won a fair amount off him.
In a recent stream he was multitabling hearthstone and complaining about the game and he said something like this reminds him of poker but at least then he got paid.
So yeah, his cash ins at big events are pretty modest, which is where I think you're getting the $211,000, but that's not the only way to make money in poker.
I used to play a lot of Poker when the Poker-Boom started with Pokerstars especially (like 10 years ago)
I assume the winnings you mentioned are from tournaments which are totally different from cash games. In Poker tournaments you pay to pay the entry, get chips and have to "survive" some time to get into the money (=reaching a place which grants you money from the prize pool). You have to play till youre out of the tournament. Cash games are different, you go to a table with your money and play, you could win 1000$ with your first hand and leave the table after that round and keep the money!
Some poker players are good tournament players, some are good cashgame players, allrounders are not so common imo, as both types of play follow a slight different strategy. There are some crazy poker players who love to play high limits, who love the risk, isildur for example, he earned millions in cashgames but also lost millions. Life coach seems like a very rational guy so I assume he did make a good profit with cashgame poker.

He bought stocks with that money and now he is a millionare I think, and he earns money from tournaments too
And if he bought stocks with that money, then what money did he have left to live on in the meantime?
He used his poker winnings to buy stocks and property I recall reading somewhere.
I don't know, but depending on his situation 40k may be more than enough. For example, he may own a family home that he no longer has to pay for.
He's a life coach.
