Trump has declared that he will hit legend within a month with a freshly made account disproving the pay to win notion. I think he will find himself disappointed shortly.
Forgot to mention. He said he won't be buying any adventures with gold or real cash.
Yes, easily. Not as long ago someone else (I do not remember who did it) just did it in 8 days from creating the account. But the game is pay to win for sure :)
Done it before and he'll do it again, but it's going to be quite the grind lol.

He will, but I don't see that it's much of a challenge because he plays for 6 hours per day.
What I'd like to see someone do is legend in a month with a more normal play time such as 1-2 hours per day because I think sheer time is actually what dictates where you place.
That would be not enough. Firebat tried last month to do that in a week, he gave up on it. He said it is possible, just needs more time. If Trump plays enough, he will be able to do it, but will need significantly more grind than the earlier versions he did with shaman and mage.

You can give a person all of the cards in the game and 1-2 hours isn't going to be reasonable for legend. It has nothing to do with P2W as it does the sheer amount of games you need.
The idea behind this, though, is that many feel like you can't do well without first putting months into your collection and/or a lot of cash into the game. Such F2P runs show that money and past game time is NOT a factor. What is is personal ability, personal knowledge of deck creation/card valuing, and being able to do the grind.
It's especially interesting here since even Blizzard has begun to worry about the new player situation.
Also note that the decks that come out of these runs do become the decks that new p;layers can grab on to that doesn't take 3 months of playtime to make. I know his first mage run is what got me from permanent rank 20 to regular rank 10 and made the game actually reasonable. Even when I moved to other decks and failed, I knew I HAD a deck that worked and, thus, could focus on personal ability.
Also nice to reply to "OMG This game is P2W, I need 100 decks of every set and all adventures just to compete!" with "No you don't. Just use this deck."
Any above average player can hit legend with a f2p account in a month or so... if he has 12 hours a day to invest!
Frankly, i don't know what people find so special about hitting legend with 300+ hours played on an account. That's almost how much an average player playes in half a year.
I don't think these challenges/goals accurately reflect the circumstances of the average new players because these pro players have experience with many higher rarity cards that new players never have had the opportunity to try and are almost always literally just knocking off one of their other decks. Crafting even a couple of wrong cards would be a major setback for new players.
That the only people that achieve this are those who have significant experience in the game and has the entire strategy planned out says a lot. Hearthstone is still very much pay to win and it would be extremely difficult for a new player to get legend in a month.
It's especially interesting here since even Blizzard has begun to worry about the new player situation.
Hearthstone is one of those really lopsided games with no real "easy" mode for new players. Rank 19 and 20 isn't even it because those decks are honestly loaded with rares, epics, and legendaries. I don't think Tavern Brawl really solved the problem either since its so hit/miss.
I think Blizzard should use rarity content of decks when pairing matches for some modes like casual. Because nothing makes a new player angrier than losing than losing to a deck with blatantly OP, unfair cards. Gradually phase out rarity as players progress but early on rarity definitely should be taken into account. This shows players that they are not losing due to weakness in their collection and will make losing easier to accept.
P2W or F2P has nothing to do with reaching legend. It's all about being able to enjoy the game.
Playing 10 hours a day with the same class and same deck for 5 months is not exactly enjoying the game.
Actually yes, that's exactly the definition of p2w. Maybe your own definition doesn't, but the official is exactly about getting an unreachable advantage in winning, for money, above players who doesn't pay.
Reaching legend is the main goal in Hearthstone and if you can reach that goal without spending money, it proves you can finish the game as f2p.
On the other hand you are never forced to play the same deck for 5 months... Even with basic cards you can build at least nine completely different decks and have fun with them. Doesn't say you win much with them, but that's not actually the point in 'fun', or is it? Only if you try hard and only play the best available deck for f2p players, and try to reach legend, you always have to play the same deck. But that's your choice then.
Reaching legend is not the main goal in Hearthstone, not even close.
i dislike trump in general. sometimes he plays around some nonexistant stuff or just does tiny stupid mistakes which cost him the game. his logic behind some cards is really simple and one-dimensional aswell, but i think he will manage to hit legend. honestly it is more about dedication and knowledge rather than the cards he has available. i myself hit rank 5 with totally f2p deck with no epics and legendaries in it, so it's not that unreal of a task. just needs countless of hours playing and being dedicated.
also how easy it is just to disenchant everything u got to make a tier 1 or tier 2 deck for 2500 dust and just go for it. a f2p account can easily afford secret paladin or patron warrior. all he needs is 1st wing of BRM and he can hit legend like NP
I think youre also forgetting its early in the month you are playing pretty high ranked players from last season at 16-18 right now, and lets be honest if youre playing at a high level good chance is when TGT came out you had the material to make what you want.... wait until the end of the month things will balance themselves out ladder wise when it comes to the level of opponent you play
Depends on your skill level. Any skilled player can hit legend given enough time. In the case of Trump and his f2p account and the free packs he earns working his way up the ladder, he'll almost certainly hit legend by dusting every card he doesn't need to craft the ones he does and because he spends an obscene amount of time playing.
So I'm of the opinion that once you learn how to recognize the correct play the majority of the time, which I personally don't think it's that difficult, then the only thing required is a significant time investment.

It's possible, it'll be a hard grind
He can do it. There are some cheap decks that can reach legend, like Patron, some kind kind of Priest or Hunter.

If I am not mistaken trump hit legend with a free to play shaman in the past already.

Unless of course that's what you enjoy doing!

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

Trump is good and he plays a lot. I think it will be a surprise if he isn't able to hit legend within the time period given.
I voted "yes" and I'm sure of it, but what I really admire is how much time he is going to waste for it.
