I have played card games going on 15 years now. It is customary to shake your opponent's hand and tell them "good game" after every match, no matter the outcome. "Well Played" is the closest thing to that that Hearthstone has, so I always emote "Well Played" at the end of every game. If that makes me an asshole, then I guess I am an asshole.
Also, if you think about it, "Well Played" to me just means that both players "Played Well". Are you saying that someone did not "Play Well" in a game where someone got rushed down? Who did not "Play Well" in your situation? Was it you, or was it them?
If you want to read into it and think I'm being sarcastic or intentionally being an asshole then that sucks, but it doesn't affect me whatsoever so that's on you. At the end of the day I say "Well Played" when I win, and I say "Well Played" when I lose (even if I lose to some stupid luck/combo garbage), and I sleep just fine at night. If you want to dwell on the intentions of people's emotes and get salty/tilted then that's your own business, but I can tell you that it's not worth even thinking about.
Truly speaking after playing so much HS I am feel a little bit tired from the all sounds in the game.
In the beginning it was fun to listen different sounds for each card, but after playing it again and again it´s a little bit too much.
So now when I am playing I turned off all sounds in the game. I feel a liitle bit sorry for my opponents, but I turn off all emotes as well.
It´s not like I don´t want to be polite, I am simply prefer to be more concentated while I am playing. The same about chat in my friends list - usually I am answer when I finished my game. Sometimes when match between two control decks just started it takes me some time to finish the game.
But in general I would be happy discuss my game when it's finished, to see what my opponent thought and where it's possible to play better.
Yeah, too many BM'ing these days. Need Auti-squelch option in hearthstone.
Oh, almost forgot. Its really okay to bm face huntards, wait every turn until rope, "thank you" if if you manage to win, spam emotes etc. Make cancer deck players suffer.
Well i do it for politeness and i know it may annoy or offend someone but it is just common courtesy to say 'gg'. Also i just wait and not concede most times because i do it for courtesy and the slim chance my opponent may make a mistake.
I don't see how 30-0 makes a difference. A loss is a loss. A lot of decks just durdle until they have the kill, and if they never find the kill, the result will likely be 30-0.
There is a difference between courteous and cocky... and I can not sense whether you're being a dick or a gentleman through the internet. So to resolve the issue stop emoting period, and immediately squelch every opponent. Problem solved ;)
Honestly, the BM I'm getting sick of is people taking their turns and playing cards. It's clear that all they want to do is destroy my hero. This game should be about winning, not making the other person lose. If you have a play each turn, you should play it, but don't make a play each turn just because you have one. That's a good way to ensure that you win the game, but it also means that the opponent loses. It's total bs BM cancer tactics.

Basically if they use emote more than once or twice in a game, it's BM from your opponent.
Most stupid thing i have read in a long time... How can you call using emotes, provided by blizz, to communicate during the game a bad manner? It is just dumb
It's second nature for me to start games with a 'Well Met!' and 'Well Played' when I finish -- win or lose. Of course if the opponent has been spamming emotes the entire game as to taunt me, a well deserved 'I'm Sorry' as I last hit is pretty satisfying.
Why do people emote this after one-sidedly trouncing someone? Do they not realize how much of an asshole they're coming across as, or is that the intent?
Play any sports? Emote at end is like the handshake at the end of any sports game.
It's all in your head. They are only being an asshole in your head.
Communication shouldn't make you angry, it's a game.
Yo , calling well played after a game doesn't mean it's BM-ing , nor does it mean being toxic . Calling well played is like saying good job , well fought , it was a nice match . It's like showing your sportsmanship . Respecting your opponent for giving his best during a match .

That doesn't mean you shouldn't be courteous.

trolling....or nah....
Spamming emotes is FUN! Just do it man w/e
Nothing rustles my jimmies more than when people spam the Sorry emote every time they destroy a minion or something trivial.
You my friend, have not meet Forsen yet.
I say hello when I win the game.
It's not rude and it's pretty funny too.

May I ask how old you are, that you think saying anything other then well played is acceptable?

I hit squelch straight away, dont even let the opponent get a 'greetings' in
Far too much toxicity in the game, insta squelch for far less stress
